Won't someone please give Kenton a kick in the FA Cup Finals, and a link to Money Saving Expert?

OP posts:
purplesprings · 20/06/2015 10:02

mink I agree but the way thing's are going...

squeaver · 20/06/2015 11:35

Bit worried that Lills is going to put what little money she has left into some kind of Bikram yoga studio/chakra cleansing juice bar with Kate.

I wonder if Kate will end up in competition with the Ambridge Tea Service?

I agree, mink, Charlie's just very ambitious. And he's young for the job he's in, isn't he? So probably a bit insecure in his position. I wish he'd get back on the culvert case, though.

I got the impression that Roy and maybe Brenda are here to stay now. Otherwise why all the discussion about Betty's ashes etc? Here's hoping that a Hayley reunion could still happen.

Golfhotelromeofoxtrot · 20/06/2015 11:40

Charlie is just a keen climber, I really can't see it being anything more than that. Perhaps he organisers backhanders for JE's business and JE has dirt on him? No love childs, please!

Pusscat will get burnt with Kate. Whatever endeavour they set upon will fail, with Brine bemoaning the whole thing from start to finish!

HapShawl · 20/06/2015 11:41

I was worried about that too re Lilian's money squeaver

I cannot stand PC harassment! Yet again he shows that he doesn't give a shit about what fallon says she does or doesn't want (before it was about going out with him, now her birthday), He Knows Better. And yes I know the SWs have her happy with the outcome etc, but it really pisses me off. like fallon can't be trusted to know her own mind

ppeatfruit · 20/06/2015 14:07

Though I find the birthday phobia thing more than a bit weird, she's only 30 fgs! I gave her more sense than to get upset about it.

Oh and look out Kate, don't let Auntie Lilian's example with the gin influence you, esp. given your partiality to getting ratarsed a few bottles of wine. The answer to your problems doesn't lie in the bottom of a glass.

Icimoi · 20/06/2015 16:22

I'm taking a more optimistic view of Lil's involvement with Kate, she may just be able to steer her into a more sensible course of action where Brine and JD can't, purely because Kate will tend to feel Lil is more on her wavelength. It might well involve the yoga studio or juice bar, but Lil would, I hope, have the sense to do some market research and find the trendiest sector of Felpersham and set up there.

ppeatfruit · 20/06/2015 16:28

Or a cocktail bar? Grin I know I'm a bit anti drink, I do have the odd glass of red, but I've seen the damage it can do in my family and it's really no friend to people.

Travelledtheworld · 20/06/2015 17:12

Going back to The Tuckers leaving party. Can someone please explain to me WHY Mike married Vicky? She is tedious beyond belief.
Betty Tucker was so sensible.
Confused

I lived abroad for several years and missed out in this particular era in Ambridge life....

Golfhotelromeofoxtrot · 20/06/2015 17:25

Fallon seems to have lost most of her level headedness recently. Such a shame.

I still can't decide who it will be to tell Kenton he's being a prick. Who would he listen to? Who does Kenton respect and admire? He is ignoring everything Jolene has said and bitten poor old Jill's head off. I can't imagine who is going to direct that kick in his FA cup finals?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 20/06/2015 18:16

Mike was lonely. He met her at a dance group/club/session/whatever they're called - ballroom or line, can't remember now. She set her cap at him, she's a woman with certain attractions mostly at chest level and that was that. I think he's the kind of man who doesn't do well at all living alone.

Would Kenton listen to Jim? Or Shula?

ZeroFunDame · 20/06/2015 19:20

Hang on - where does the move leave Brenda, as regards inheritance? I recall her being worried about this when the Tucker house was being divided (and Hayley was in hospital giving birth to Abby). Obviously things changed when Bethany was born but, now that the house Mike, Vicky and Beth live in has no connection to Brenda it's going to be hard for her to argue for a share of it when Vicky will want it all for her own daughter.

(I'm probably the only person in the northern hemisphere worrying about the Tucker inheritance on a beautiful midsummer Saturday night. Hmm)

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 20/06/2015 19:33

I think this was discussed many threads ago and we decided the sw had forgotten.

Goes to show that you should get in early when it comes to inheritance!!

I assume Roy owns his half. Or is mike going to die of a broken heart in two months and vicky is going to turf Roy out?

DoloresLandingham · 20/06/2015 19:35

What about Hayley? She must have some claim on the half she had with Roy.

ZeroFunDame · 20/06/2015 19:52

The SWs have dug a bit of a hole for themselves - they'll have to keep Mike alive until they have a plan.

From the conversations Mike had with Brenda - assuring her that she would of course retain her inheritance of his half of the divided house - I had assumed Roy and Hayley were given their half, rather than buying it from Mike. (I remember they were struggling to find a house anywhere in the vicinity that they could afford.) But then he had a third child.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 21/06/2015 10:03

I don't think it was entirely clear how it was funded/arranged. There was certainly borrowing of some kind involved to pay for the conversion of one big house into two halves. New kitchen, new staircase, extra bathroom etc etc. I'm pretty sure R&H paid for all of that.

Bethany will probably never lead a fully independent life so Vicky has a cast iron case for hanging onto the new house when Mike goes so that Bethany can live there if she doesn't want to go into supported housing. Even with the health problems associated with Down's, Bethany is likely to outlive Brenda.

If I were Brenda I'd be doing my best to school myself to forget about getting any inheritance from Mike at all. I hope she does really well for herself in London as that will make that mental adjustment a lot easier. (So would marrying a well-heeled man, but I'd much rather that she made the money herself.)

Halsall · 21/06/2015 11:16

Maybe I missed something (my usual cry) but how are Moike and the ghastly screeching Vickoi funding the new house purchase if they're not selling the existing house? Moike had the not-doing-very-well milk round and Vickoi's not working, so surely they can't get a mortgage? Moike's in his, ahem, mature years anyway, isn't he?

I suppose Vickoi might have money and she's buying it. I cant stand her, I'm afraid. I know Moike needs a woman, as noted upthread, but V is just grim.

Travelledtheworld · 21/06/2015 11:35

Thanks Gaspo I had forgotten about the ballroom dancing.

Halsall I can't stand Vickoi ether....

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 21/06/2015 12:25

They are selling the house. A new family is going to move into their half. I hope they're silent. I don't want any more new people, especially if they're vocally indistinguishable from the other new people. Angry

God bless Stephen Fry. He just chose Barwick Green on Desert Island Discs and they played the full length version. It was glorious. The continuity announcer confessed that she was very confused for a moment and thought she must have pressed the wrong button.

Halsall · 21/06/2015 14:03

Ah right - thanks Gasp0de! My listening has been patchy of late. So the wrangling over the inheritance will indeed have to wait until Moike's demise, I see now.

ppeatfruit · 21/06/2015 14:10

Vicky does or did work as a dental receptionist P\T. Don't know if she still does. Agree she's annoying, I bet she'll moan about living in Brum after lea ving 'quiet' Amb., serve her right.

R4 · 21/06/2015 15:27

Wasn't there talk of Vickoi getting a job in Brum and Moike being the SAHP? But I don't see how you get a mortgage and a bridging loan on that.Confused
I don't like Vickoi but she's a lot better than she was.

ppeatfruit · 21/06/2015 16:08

I agree R4 she improved after first moving in with Mike and being very insensitive about Betty's memory. But she seems to be sliding towards the insensitivity again , maybe it's stress that triggers it.

GypsyFloss · 21/06/2015 19:10

Helen "we're having a really good weekend" ...oh please let something happens to bugger that up!

GypsyFloss · 21/06/2015 19:56

Aw man, I was hoping for a cricket ball to the head for Knob.

cheminotte · 21/06/2015 21:13

Still a few episodes behind but wanted to comment that there seems to be a lot of retelling going on. I listened to Weds' episode before Tuesday's and Pip was telling her dad that Kenton upset Jill by telling her it was a conspiracy against her. Then I heard Tuesday's and he did indeed use those words. I don't mind a few reminders about events a few years ago, but don't need a detailed account of what went on yesterday while its still on iPlayer .
