Have you had your free venison burger?

OP posts:
BuildYourOwnSnowman · 26/06/2014 21:38

Given the mismatch of alice and chris I think they have to work as a couple in the long term.

as for tom, it isn't that easy or quick to sell a business!

I know someone who was an aeronautical engineer. ended up quitting to go into finance because she was sick o being treated like an idiot. maybe alice works at the same place

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 26/06/2014 21:46

If Alice behaves at work as she does round the village, her colleagues would be within their rights to treat her like an idiot. Who would guess that she has the best academic qualifications of anyone in the village? Angry

Imbroglio · 26/06/2014 21:52

Did Tom actually get that job in Canada?

ppeatfruit · 27/06/2014 11:43

Oh I 'd love the details of aeronautical engineering being explained in TA Grin yea very cool NOT.

Aren't Festivals mainstream now and ubiquitous? Of course Roy would like them. Hippy Kate having Pheobe in a tent was 16 years AGO Shock He might 've got over his hippie phobia by now anyways.

Imbroglio We don't know what Tom is doing in Canada he could be working on a pig farm that Rob recommended or he could be hitching his way round Alaska Grin

PetulaGordino · 27/06/2014 11:46
Grin

she doesn't actually have to be talking about planes and shit! she could mention things like being involved in winning an important contract, or a technological breakthrough (non-specific) that she's been instrumental in

PetulaGordino · 27/06/2014 11:47

according to wikipedia the up-to-date term is aerospace engineering - the archers website needs to get with the new terminology!

PetulaGordino · 27/06/2014 11:54

after all, helen gets to talk about cheese

mummytime · 27/06/2014 12:10

Well as lots of organisations are trying to get more girls interested in Engineering, the Archers has a duty to make Engineering sound more interesting. We need to know more, just as we hear stuff about Sandhurst from Dan and co.

PetulaGordino · 27/06/2014 12:11

yy, definitely

stilllearnin · 27/06/2014 12:59

have now caught up with yesterday - Fallon follows her instinct, and H does not. How does this pan out then. I am secretly hoping that the new shop manager person comes fully installed with a Knob detector and manages to make H see him for what he is. She is Helen's last hope surely!

ppeatfruit · 27/06/2014 13:30

Mind you I'm beginning to think that Alice's job is part time or doesn't exist at all she's never there!

stilllearnin Or another scenario s the new manager falls for knob and they run off together to Canada!! Thus improving Hell's life 100% Grin

stilllearnin · 27/06/2014 13:35

Arggh I couldn't listen to that Hell would be handwringing nisery! (more than usual).

PetulaGordino · 27/06/2014 13:37

i'm not sure which is more unbearable, helen happy or helen miserable!

PetulaGordino · 27/06/2014 15:05

oooh

RocknRollNerd · 27/06/2014 15:31

Oh interesting Petula...I thought for a dreadful moment it was going to be a retro AmEx type thing but thankfully not!

Alice and Fallon both need shaking hard. I've known 14 year olds be more together about their love lives than Fallon is and YY to Alice frittering away her education and career. She was supposed to have had a lot of overtime owed but surely she's used that all up now with the time looking after Chris, kitchen and wedding planning etc?

The storylines involving the stables are interesting, I wonder if they're pushing Shula towards a nervous breakdown/depression type storyline - she seems to be incredibly down and depressed about things and taking everything very hard.

PetulaGordino · 27/06/2014 15:43

is that pat and tony in the pic? i can't identify the boy

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 27/06/2014 15:51

Thanks Pet - that looks like it might be fun - particularly hearing about Jenny.

I wondered if strangles might prevent Dan from going home... But regardless of that isnt it likely that animal illness at the Stables will be an "Alistair" story? Perhaps this will be the final straw that drives him into joining the proposed new practice on the other side of town? (Which would mean Shula having to find a new vet...)

If they're overturning every single household I wonder what's in store for the Grundys, Carters etc. Though perhaps they're considered to live in a constant state of turmoil. If they're only troubling the gentry, surely Christine is next?

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 27/06/2014 16:43

I believe it's Sid and Polly with Tony eavesdropping. Don't ask me why I should know this. I was in the infants at the time, judging by the clothes. I think it must be a picture in one of my many Archers books.

ppeatfruit · 27/06/2014 17:11

Yes thanks Pet that sounds interesting!

Just because couples have disagreements doesn't mean they're heading for the DV courts does it? If that were the case my marriage wouldn't have lasted 2 weeks (40 years next year OMG!).

GypsyFloss · 27/06/2014 19:24

Urgh I think I just heard Roy in sexy voice seduction mode! Please save my poor ears...

So what's changed with Wor Ruthie then? Last I heard she wailing about the road and now she's sounding in favour of the great changes it could bring. Charlie's charm must have worked a treat on her.

KIrsty7318 · 27/06/2014 19:24

So poor downtrodden Hayley is at home keeping her fish pie warm for rotaboy, but he Isn't interested until Lizzie kicks him in to touch, snigger. Has the script writing been left to a 14 year old?

Sneezecakesmum · 27/06/2014 19:25

Will have to look at that Pet! Tony peeking lol!

As for tonight....Slap the bumptious, cheating creep down, Lizzie! At least she's not totally stupid now she is un cidered up! But I can see a plot for a build up of sexual tension between them again now that they've done the deed once.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 27/06/2014 19:35

I am certain that S O'C has a big whiteboard with a list of all the Ambridge households - and the project is to change one fundamental thing in each.

So I see Roy becoming tedious to the point of being unbearable and Elizabeth simply having to get rid of him. Either it all happens quietly or it leads to an employment tribunal and huge embarrassment. There's no way he's staying at LL unless she declares unlikely and undying love.

nauticant · 27/06/2014 19:38

I'm well behind, but

I think the Roy Elizabeth thing goes right back to when Caroline lent him to Lower Loxley after Nigel's death. Of all the recent plot twists I find it the most believable.

LillianGish has this right IMO. At the time of Roy being Lizard's (temporary) rock all that time ago I thought "aye aye, what's going to happen here then?"

CuttedUpPear · 27/06/2014 19:43

I'm ar Glastonbury and I haven't been able to listen all week and will miss the omnibus as well.

Can someone please tell me what exactly is going on between Roy and Lizzie now they are back from Shagfest?

TIA Smile
