Have you had your free venison burger?

OP posts:
ppeatfruit · 26/06/2014 10:53

It's not an unlikely coupling!!! Zero agrees don't you? Think office parties etc. and their office is VERY small; so all the more likely to get a bloke like Roy all hot and bothered. Lizzie is a frustrated pretty widow and got pissed; et VOILA Grin

Olivia I hope everything's going well nice to hear from you again!

Hakluyt · 26/06/2014 11:05

Yeah- because of course men and women can't work together without shagging. Grrrrrrrrrrr!

Hakluyt · 26/06/2014 11:08

"o all the more likely to get a bloke like Roy all hot and bothered."

And what do you mean, a bloke like Roy? A bloke who has never shown the slightest sight of being anything but a loving and contented husband and father?

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 26/06/2014 11:10

Apparently lizzie will be telling Roy 'the truth' on Friday. I hope that isn't that she has harboured feelings for him for years. Or that she is desperate for another baby

I'm guessing it will be 'I was feeling horny and in need of a shag an you were there with easy to remove brown polyester trousers'

Why are they so desperate for gallon to end up with PC burns? In some ways that would have made a more compelling donestic abuse storyline (he could be very controlling) as being an officer of he law would make it even harder for fallon. But they can't really have two storie like that at the same time.

Loneliness in the elderly as a huge problem an I hope they handle the Peggy storyline sensitively

ppeatfruit · 26/06/2014 11:35

I mean a 'normal' bloke; many of whom IME cannot resist a shag if it's offered on a plate.

mummytime · 26/06/2014 11:48

Anyone who doesn't think it likely obviously leads a more sheltered life than me - I know plenty of cases of "unlikely" men having affairs. And Roy is nearly old enough for a mid-life crisis. Especially if you look at his friends and family; Brenda has shaken off Ambridge, and via the Russian affair is now in London and a new life. Then John has just shaken off his predestined role and is now in Canada. Even Kate has had a more interesting life than dull Roy.

Of course Elizabeth was just after a quick shag.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 26/06/2014 11:52

Lizzie has been outrageously unprofessional to
A) shag an employee,
B) shag an employees husband

Maybe they are gearing up for an employment tribunal case

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 26/06/2014 11:56

it's not just an 'unlikely man' - it's this particular combination of people, the fact that they work together in such a small business, that Hayley will find out & be devastated, that her family will find out & she will be mortified

& most of all that Lady Lizzie would not shag the help, however alluring his brown polyester trousers (I love that, snowman Grin)

Hakluyt · 26/06/2014 12:03

Even if it was likely in real life- and I maintain that it isn't- you can't do that sort of thing in a drama without some sort of clue. That's not how drama works. It's like a murder mystery where the murderer turns our to be an entirely new character who appears in the last 5 minutes who nobody has ever heard of and who has no connection with any of the other characters.

ppeatfruit · 26/06/2014 12:13

Yes Exactly mummytime

btw. bit of a Freudian slip; you said "john" had gone to Canada Grin i guess that Pat and Tone would be happy if that were the case Grin

mummytime · 26/06/2014 12:35

Sorry - I have to admit I had a break in listening to the Archers (it co-incided with living overseas for a while) during which John died. When I came back it took a while for me to realise that he had died, as Tom sounded exactly the same.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 26/06/2014 14:31

Dear me! Roy sounded like a fractious child.... If he'd thrown a tantrum at every minor setback over the last few years I don't think he'd have a job now. Is it the guilt that's getting to him? Elizabeth was quite unrealistically patient with his nonsense. (But didn't sound as if she'd be sacking him by Friday...)

Surely they have one SW who could successfully marry Alice's professional and private life? It's very disheartening...

Universal · 26/06/2014 15:34

Is there a rule in Ambridge that states that a woman must go out with a man if he shows any interest? All this pressure on Fallon to go out with PC plod because he 'asked'. It's all a bit juvenile.

I'd be interested to know the ratio of men to women on the writing team. There seems to be very little understanding of the lives of younger women.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 26/06/2014 16:22

Being a bit preoccupied about my student son's need to find gainful employment for the summer, I must admit my first response to Roy's so called crisis was that I must tell him to ring LL and ask if he could help out. However, once I had caught onto myself, I still thought it was an idiotic thing to be handwringing about. There are any number of teenagers and young people looking for casual work at this time of the year. Transference, though, I suppose, as Roy can't say out loud that it's the shag making him hot and bothered.

As for the credibility of the storyline, I'm with Hakluyt about this. As stated many dozens if not hundreds of posts ago, we've had no groundwork for this ludicrous new development.

Loving the polyester trousers! Upthread they were grey. Do we think Roy rotates between his grey pair and his brown pair?

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 26/06/2014 16:23

I bet he wears short sleeved shirts in the summer with a tie and a pen in the front pocket.

PetulaGordino · 26/06/2014 16:27

i have discovered that there is an archers thread on gransnet

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 26/06/2014 16:28

He only brings out the brown pair for special occasions and when he's hoping for a bit of nooky

I wonder of Hayley clocked what he was wearing before he left...

I agree about the female characters - they have been the bedrock of the show at times but at the moment they are very one dimensional

I know he wants to channel Shakespeare but this is a rural farming community, not a royal court.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 26/06/2014 16:30

Having said that, if Hayley baked Fred and lil in a (Betty) pie and fed it to Elizabeth.....

polyhymnia · 26/06/2014 16:36

I imagine he actually wire jeans to the festival - pressed ones.

polyhymnia · 26/06/2014 16:36

Wore!

choccyp1g · 26/06/2014 17:01

The whole loxfest plot is unbelievable.
As many posters have pointed out, no-one, least of all Tractor-Boy-Roy, can organise a festival in such a short time.
Surely between the twins, Hayley, Phoebe, and the miracle baby someone would have wanted to go as well.
The supposed 'spark' appeared out of the blue about a fortnight ago.
Elizabeth has never shagged anyone without checking out their bank balance and/or stately home, and of all people, she knows how little she pays Roy and Hayley.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 26/06/2014 17:06

And are we expected to believe Roy is the festival going type

PetulaGordino · 26/06/2014 17:08

BYOS i read somewhere else (that i now can't recall) that phoebe was conceived at a festival. hopefully more seasoned listeners might recall!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 26/06/2014 17:16

So he's reliving his kate days. Interesting. And he has form for conceiving in tents. That must be where he and Hayley went wrong. Get the clear blue in Elizabeth!!

Hakluyt · 26/06/2014 17:17

Phoebe wasn't conceived at a festival- she was born at Glastonbury.
