Have you had your free venison burger?

OP posts:
ZeroSomeGameThingy · 25/06/2014 10:14

Sadly stuck in Albion ppeat....

ppeatfruit · 25/06/2014 12:28

Never mind Zero Sad .

mummytime I think that Ruth seeing pound signs (like Donald Duck!) is not like her actually, she'd be fully emotionally involved with the land she farmed with her family wouldn't she?

mummytime · 25/06/2014 12:42

I think Ruth is emotionally involved with the Cows and sheep, but not necessarily so much the land. After all she is much more a livestock farmer than involved with the arable.
David though has taken on the legacy from his father and grandfather. It's like Nigel wouldn't have just sold Lower Loxley, whereas I'd easily sell my house. Or why Oxford wouldn't build a new library, whereas one other University I know has changed its library at least twice in the last 40 years.

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 25/06/2014 17:27

I have actually stopped listening. Nigel off the roof didn't do it but the unlikeliest-ever-radio-coupling has finished me Hmm

\link{http://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2014/jun/25/radio-review-month-in-ambridge-archers\the blessed Nancy isn't liking it either} (but I assume she is still listening - well, she gets paid for it)

'Ambridge is trivia you can hardly see with spectacles ("How are the sheep?" "Pretty listless.") Ambridge is like Adlestrop, where nothing seems to happen at all, unless you count all the birds of Oxfordshire and Borsetshire.
'Dr Beeching, as I recollect, closed Adlestrop because it was unprofitable.'

maybe it won't be there to listen to soon...

R4 · 25/06/2014 18:34

Talking of the unlikely coupling, did anyone hear Patricia Greene / Jill on Woman's Hour the other day. She was supposed to be talking about loneliness (not sure why her and not June Spencer / Peggy, but I digress...) but JM asked her about the goings on. PG said she was "surprised". Apparently Alison Dowling / Lizzie was also "surprised".
Is "surprised" actor-speak for "I don't believe that this character would ever do that". Hmm

TallGiraffe · 25/06/2014 19:05

20 month old DS has just proclaimed "Archers"!

Good to know it is a priority word ahead of Grandad Grin

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 25/06/2014 19:07

very late to this
pitifully behind
place marking

GypsyFloss · 25/06/2014 19:40

So what was Shula about to say to Ali?

GypsyFloss · 25/06/2014 19:41

And when does airhead Alice do any work? She sounds more and more vacuous each time we hear her.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 25/06/2014 19:59

...Not Alice's fault. She worked so hard for those stellar qualifications - and now the SWs are afraid of her.

(Not that I've heard tonight's yet...)

GypsyFloss · 25/06/2014 20:02

Honestly listening to her wittering tonight I found it very hard to reconcile her with the girl who had ambitions to join the RAF and then went on to get a decent degree from a good university. She's left her brain outside the enclave.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 25/06/2014 20:17

Zero, take some beta blockers before you listen, to keep your blood pressure to safe levels. Poor, poor Alice. What has she done to deserve this?

TallGiraffe, you must be so proud! Grin

Olivia, hello! Hope all is going well with you and the babies.

R4, I suppose Patricia Greene thinks (correctly, I hope) that she is in an unassailable position and can say what others may be thinking without being killed off - or not imminently, anyway.

Gypsy, going by the recent massive-lurch-to-the-left-without-bothering-to-signal-in-advance nature of the plots, I think Shula was about to say to Alistair 'Actually, I've realised I'm actually a lesbian and I'm moving in with Serena Thwaite, who's had a similar revelation and is leaving Richard. I'll have your things packed by the morning. Bye!'

choccyp1g · 25/06/2014 20:22

And no doubt the SWs will let us know 'there's been a spark' which they never bothered to dramatise.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 25/06/2014 20:49

Yes indeed, choccy!

I meant Sabrina, btw, not Serena, in my earlier post. Tut tut.

Thanks for posting the Month in Ambridge link, TheOne. Utterly brilliant, as ever.

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 25/06/2014 21:07

You're very welcome, mimsy Smile

It'll probably be my monthly sole source of Ambridge news fr

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 25/06/2014 21:08

Oops

From now on

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 25/06/2014 21:22

That photo heading the N B-S article is decidedly retro. I haven't been camping for about twenty years.but even I know that tents don't look like that any more.

(Glancing through magazines and the doorways of camping shops I've gathered that a tent isn't a tent without proper windows, a sauna and Hasten beds in each of the several bedrooms. - at the very least.)

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 25/06/2014 21:25

The feet are in crocs though, zero Grin

More recent than it might look

PetulaGordino · 25/06/2014 21:35

i honestly think pc harassment burns is a creepy weirdo and fallon should be off travelling the world or looking for an exciting career change, not looking for another boyfriend. why would alice be facilitating the latter and not the former, it doesn't make sense?

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 25/06/2014 22:02

If we credit the SWs with this much subtlety, Pet, because she turned her back on all that herself, so doesn't want Fallon to have it either?

PetulaGordino · 25/06/2014 22:08

fair point. and might not want to lose her friend too

R4 · 25/06/2014 22:28

I don't understand Fallon at the moment. A few years ago she was fed up with working at the Bull and wanted more. She was desperate for the manager's job at Jaxx. Now she's doing the I'm-wasting-my-life-here thing.Confused
As an aside, she doesn't seem to be missing Kirsty. Do you think that Fallon has replaced her already (and not offered any hours to Alice?).

GypsyFloss · 25/06/2014 22:53

I like your thinking Mimsy or maybe she's going to admit to having a regular ride with Roy on alternate Friday afternoons and wants to have a more important place in his rota Grin

PrincessFiorimonde · 25/06/2014 23:26

I've read all the Archers threads, but not posted on one for a while, mostly because I'm usually days behind. Now I've finally caught up!

Couldn't believe how matter of fact Elizabeth sounded tonight. Come to think of it, so did Roy, till near the end of their 'working lunch'. Hmm

Alice. What a waste.

Hakluyt, I thought that about Peggy too. A few sleepers in her cocoa, perhaps? Sad

Don't know what I'm liking about the Archers at the moment (though Lilian sans Paul always cheers me up). But I keep listening anyway.

unitarian · 26/06/2014 00:50

Oh dear. Lizzie is trying to put it all behind her and get back on a professional footing. Roy isn't.
Is there a male equivalent of a bunny boiler?
