I've just found this photo of the leather 'vintage' Mimas.

MonkeyJuice · 21/10/2011 14:17

The Vista isn't that huge folded, and all wheels quick release....
I'm very excited my black seat and hood are on their way. In time for Halloween.

suzie38 · 21/10/2011 15:40

Yuck...I definetely wouldn't be buying a leather version!!! Just got my Xari order confirmation plus 20% off if i spend over £30 and i need one of those Carry Pottys for DD...Don't think i can use it for Mima footmuff if i get one as they're not listed for online sales.

HauntedPramsScreamsGalore · 21/10/2011 15:46

i don't like that leather one either, like the all black, but my favs are the white and silver ones, i hope they bring out more seat pad colours in the uk soon, i am like the yellow one on the white.

suzie38 · 21/10/2011 15:53

Yes i like that yellow one as well...Wonder if you could buy a black seat seperately??? As the pink does look nice on it.

HauntedPramsScreamsGalore · 21/10/2011 15:58

yes you would be able to, as its he same seat the kobi takes, you would be able to get the seat i have, [which is cheaper] with out the carrycot inside. that mima is relisted on ebay at 700 now!!!!

suzie38 · 21/10/2011 16:18

I was wondering if the extra Kobi seat would fit...So maybe the black set up will be on sale soon and then i could then get a black seat without carrycot...But probably would only do that if i can get the nice seat pad colors, possibly buy from Europe then as they seem to get all the colors!!!

Tiggywunkle · 21/10/2011 17:03

Frigg - If it's for the nursery run then get a Vista. I am seriously impressed by the thought that's gone into it. The carrycot is the most luxurious I have seen and it's included! It's enough to make you want another baby! If it's a throw in and out of the car pushchair (which I don't think it is with you but it is more with me) then get a BJCM. Or as an in between get an Elite? I think however the Vista is a newborn package. You get the car seat adaptors, two raincovers, bug net etc all in the box.

We have really strict fireproofing rules here in the UK which is why we don't always get the same colour ranges. Apparently certain colours don't fireproof well. Plus I guess it's more work for one market.

Tiggywunkle · 21/10/2011 17:04

And yes the Kobi and Xari seats are the same.

suzie38 · 21/10/2011 17:07

I never opened the carrycot box up as i knew i'd never need it so didn't want to open it and the struggle to get it back in the box if i sold it on, which obviously i did.

Tiggywunkle · 21/10/2011 17:42

I didn't want to open it either but I am glad I did. It's my favourite carrycot to date and maybe would have tipped the balance if I was dithering over which Pushchair to buy. It's kind of a soft cream suede around the top, sides and under the apron with a very padded mattress. There's a flap underneath which you can open to allow air to circulate and you can clearly see the ventilation holes in the wooden base so I assume it's suitable for overnight sleeping. One of the few gripes I have is that although the seat is very logical, removing the carrycot and car seat adaptors had me reaching for the manual after finding no logical buttons to press etc. It's rare I reach for a manual but to do it with both car seat adaptors and carrycot led me to think this isn't the sort of Pushchair you take to Grannys and say don't worry you will work it out! They would need a lesson. I found the car seat adaptors fiddly to remove which is a shame because car seat adaptors are usually simple.
Did I say I have four reclines BTW! Thanks for that! I need to run it this weekend or early next week and sell on. But it's one pushchair I would keep if we had the room etc. I like the fact the seat is so long. My daughter's legs are totally supported well. I do wonder whether it would be a good one for DS when he's older to be fair as he will need a pushchair for longer, but we have another year and a half until we get to that point. But it is a very comfy pushchair for an older toddler ie 3+. I can see why it's well liked. Is there any suspension on the Vista? It feels like a hard ride?

Tiggywunkle · 21/10/2011 17:45

Are those Mimas black, tan leather, cream and chocolate leather?? The 'white' one doesn't look white to me but it could just be the lighting? I much prefer the grey or black.

MonkeyJuice · 21/10/2011 17:47

Vista suspension - It's shock absorbing suspension - (think mountain bike!) rather than "bouncy" suspension. It seems best "activated" with larger child and seat rear facing.... I would miss it if it wasn't there at all!

suzie38 · 21/10/2011 18:00

That's one of the reasons i didn't keep it as i do like a bouncy ride...My DD is quite light so maybe why she didn't activate the suspension much...Plus it might 'loosen' with use i guess...I just took it that the tan one was leather but i can't read the comments underneath...Shame there's no translater on Facebook!!!

suzie38 · 21/10/2011 18:02

Actually i can read new vintage collection...So maybe i won't be getting an all black seat if they only come in leather.

HauntedPramsScreamsGalore · 21/10/2011 18:27

i like what they are made of now, very easy to keep clean
Tiggy, off topic, but can you down load books onto an ipad, a bit like a kindle, or would i have to get a kindle, just seems a bit daft if the ipad had an app for books, i know nothing about either, but dd1 has asked for both Shock, she still has her b day money so she could get a kindle with that, but i would rather she get a case or docking station after christmas for the ipad

suzie38 · 21/10/2011 18:39

Someone gave me a bag of clothes for recycling...Said i could put things on eBay if wanted...Found an identical pair of Karen Millen shoes listed for £69.50 so think i'll do Buy it Now for £35 for my pair as they have been worn perhaps a couple of times but are immaculate with exception of sole.

Tiggywunkle · 21/10/2011 18:43

You can read books on an iPad. It often asks me if I want to open certain documents with a book reading app. I did have a book library app on and the WHSmith app on which were both for book reading. Hubby reads his text books on here. The only thing is that the iPad is heavy to hold. A Kindle would be much lighter for book reading unless like you say she props the iPad up. But it's not one to take to bed with you!
Thanks re the suspension. I can't put my finger on it but there are quite a few similarities with the Hauck Duett eg the fold mechanism, even the button you press, the hard ride, wheels etc. Maybe if I had the two together they would be quite different bit I do wonder if they are made in the same place. There's no comparison re fabrics though. The Vista is far superior and the design otherwise is clearly different.

HauntedPramsScreamsGalore · 21/10/2011 19:52

thanks, the others are easy and dp is not being helpful, usual for this time of year, leaves present buying to me, the other year i had to work out ps3 and suitable good games, i was very Confused but worked it out in the end.

DD would love your hair as purple appears to be her favorite color...There was someone on television with pink hair last night and was not in favor of me having the same color!!! I'm boring i've never once put any dye on my hair.

HauntedPramsScreamsGalore · 21/10/2011 20:46

i have very boring mousey brown hair, i have dyed my hair for years, don't think the dc's have ever seen my hair brown its either red or purpleish. still if you ever out and about and see someone with red/purple hair pushing a white xari, you will know its me!!!!!! i like shopping in your neck of the woods, when i visit my mums
