This is as imaginative as I get!Wink
Frigg, my Mum works for the City Council doing disability adaptations to resident's houses. She goes to assessments with an OT, decides on adaptations needed, designs them, draws up plans, applies for planning permission and oversees the work. She's been in the same job since she was 18 so she's learnt a lot about all sorts of dsabilities along the way.

Lol re the DIY pushchair! The Kidsmile pushchair looks like the rear wheels are on back to front!!

saoirse86 · 06/08/2011 20:30

Tiggy is the ABC too big for the boot then? aswell and I are seriously considering getting one. I got in a right mood this morning. I was going to work and dropped Orlaith as aswell's. Our mum was there but neither of them were dressed so I had to go an change the contours from my boot to my mum's so they'd have it for the day. Well... it took forever and I was getting all stressed while a couple messed about in their car next to me looking at me like I was an idiot. Angry So my answer was we need an ABC (or similar) because I get too impatient. Blush
Please don't tell me it's huge folded! The girls are going to be too old for pushchairs by the time we find this elusive and mysterious perfect double. Sad

saoirse86 · 06/08/2011 20:32

Oh also, we're 5'3" and 5'4" if we stand up really tall so will we be able to see over the seat on top if we get one?

Tiggywunkle · 06/08/2011 20:41

Oh there is no perfect double....absolutely not!! Not yet....if yiu want the perfect double for your two babies then you really should bite the bullet and try a BJCS or buy a side by side pushchair. Something like the Duet would cure you for a few years! The BJCS would last until they are both heading for two, then it has a good resale value and you can get something else. But TBH there are less bits on the Contours....the BJCS has adaptors as well. Again your two are quite small. My baby has just been in the toddler seat (whilst we hoovered) and I don't want him in it for a long time. I would be getting a double with your two littlies, or at least one with a reclining top seat (which is what we need for my 12 month old). The ABC is harder than the Contours to fold. Plus the upper child is very exposed unless you have a reclining toddler seat. We have just been trying the hood on and need help..which is why I came here (will ask in a mo). It really really is a toddler and baby option. And no, I haven't tried it in my boot but we don't think it will fit. It's very long.

Tiggywunkle · 06/08/2011 20:43

You wouldnt see over a reclining toddler seat - Its my hesitation about buying one. You can see round the static one but there is no support for the child eg to sleep. It's upright with minimal support.

Tiggywunkle · 06/08/2011 20:49

Who has / had the ABC? Was it Monkeys? I have been trying to put the hood on the toddler seat. The wire frame is easy, and we can attach it to either side under the nuts. But where do you attach the two pieces of fabric with the poppers on? We can't fit it to any part of the toddler seat without the hood ending too far forwards. I have tried Googling / trawling images and ant find anything to help. I mailed ABC direct last week but have had no reply. I am stuck but would like to use the hood. Can anyone help?

Tiggywunkle · 06/08/2011 21:12

Saoirse - can you not fold the Contours wirpth one seat on so you just have two pieces to deal with? Being utterly honest apart from the weird shape it's one of the easiest tandems to deal with...for simple you need a BJCM...

aswellasyou · 06/08/2011 21:57

I've just been looking up the height coincidentally. It's 145cm/4'9" with the hood on the reclining seat, 130cm/4'3" without it. I feel like it's borderline whether we'll be able to see ahead of it or not.Confused

Frigg!

Are you wanting a double still? theres a really nice Silvercross double pop for £60 on my local face book site?

here

no idea what they are like at all but it looks narrow.

Tiggywunkle · 06/08/2011 22:34

Hubby says the toddler seat with hood on is six foot high...we weren't going to get the toddler seat partly because of height and the hood. I haven't seen a photo anywhere with the reclining seat hood removed. I wish I could buy one to try.

MonkeysPunk · 06/08/2011 22:44

Sorry, it wasn't me who had the abc. I looked into it but it wasn't what I needed at that time. I know a lady who has a double with reclining toddler seat. It looks fab.

MonkeysPunk · 06/08/2011 22:46

Hopefully my Dylans candybar volo will be coming on Monday..:-D

aswellasyou · 06/08/2011 22:49

I found the height with the reclining seat here. It's the last FAQ. I think your husband's exaggerating a tad!Wink I haven't seen it without the hood. In fact, I thought it didn't come off until I read that comment about the height.

Great news Monkey...Evidently my Orbit arrived at the sellers place on Friday and he said he'd pack it this weekend ready to ship...Bloody hope so!!!

aswellasyou · 06/08/2011 23:05

Monkeys, that seems quicker than I thought it would be!
Suzie, so it should be with you during the week? How exciting! I'm really intrigued about what it's like-it's so different to any others. Smile

Well i'm not crossing my fingers yet but he did say it would be sent via UPS, rather than the mix up with the Indie, that was suppose to be UPS but ended up USPS.

I had a great few hours on Wednesday as the council next to where my parents live had their usual 'Lark in the Park' day...I was in heaven pushchair watching, as much as DD would let me...Not too difficult as she's not a bolter...The area is Bugaboo territory big time so every other buggy was either a Cameleon or a Bee/plus...But i had the only Donkey, as far as i was aware Grin Also saw a Brio Go, and a few other interesting ones that i can't remember anymore.

aswellasyou · 06/08/2011 23:31

I've never seen anyone actually using a Donkey I don't think. Solihull is Bugaboos R Us too!Grin John Lewis seems to be their head quarters.Hmm

The seller got back to me and he has the Watermelon color pack in stock, which i said i'll have, as i can always try and get the grape pack at a later date especially if they do sell over here...Plus he has a footmuff but didn't say the size as there is small and large...Has got a weather pack in, not on website at the moment i think...Plus the black panniers set...Starting to get excited now Grin

suzie38 · 06/08/2011 23:52

I'm not stalking, but i've found the guy who i've been communicating with on Facebook.

FriggFRIGG · 07/08/2011 00:18

eh??
who do you mean suzie?
is it about the orbit?

Tiggywunkle · 07/08/2011 01:13

aswellasyou I will measure it tomorrow but I have to say I do think the top of the hood on the static toddler seat is pretty much as tall as me or taller at 5ft 6ins. I can't see over the top. Those measurements are for the reclining seat, and if they are so low, then thats better for me :) Having had a look at the You Tube videos most people seem to be able to just about see over the top. The static toddler seat hood actually has a clear panel in the back so you can see where you are going!! I really want to buy a reclining seat! In fact I am debating buying another pushchair just to get one!!

Monkeys thanks..I thought you had one. The straps make absolutely no sense at all because the arent long enough to go where logically they should go. I am glad your Volo is on the way :) I love the colour of it!

Suzie That all sounds really exciting re your Orbit and all the extra bits and pieces. The panniers are cool! Is watermelon green or red? I will look it up when I get chance...but not now lol

I bought another pushchair tonight. A Valco with toddler seat at the front. It was going relatively cheap and ended up paying more than I wanted to really but it could well do us for my all day outings in the future as I dont think either the ABC, +one or Duet will realistically be car pushchair options as they all have large folds. The Valco folds much smaller. The toddler seat takes up to 20kgs and although I think it looks odd...it may just do for those outings! I have no idea what Valco it is though!! Here is the photo. The baby will go underneath and my toddler at the front.

Oh and the Contours has just sold :) :( I feel a bit sad about the Contours because I think its a fantastic pushchair, and one that people should be made aware off as a good option - because I think in many ways its better than the City Select - its not quite as good quality, and the fold is larger, but the seating positions are possibly better especially for a toddler and baby, and I really liked it, and the parent console! :)

MonkeysPunk · 07/08/2011 06:04

I saw a twin valco with toddler seat once. It looked fantastic. I remember wanting one! The mother I saw had beautiful mixed race triplets of varying shades and hair types! They were just gorgeous. About two years old. The valco was fully laden but still looked easy to push.

MonkeysPunk · 07/08/2011 06:08

While waiting for a train with my kids the other eve (v late return from beach), I saw a grandma and her 4y old (ish) grandson get off carrying a vintage butchers stripe maclaren in one hand. Wow those old buggies were tiny folded! Smaller than the volo!

suzie38 · 07/08/2011 08:40

Yes and one of those Maclarens sold for £227 on eBay recently!!! The watermelon color is pink??? I can't figure out why they called it watermelon as i've never seen a pink one either.
FriggFRIGG yes it's the guy i've been emailing at the weekends about the Orbit...The company is actually really a shop.

aswellasyou · 07/08/2011 10:09

Tiggy, I was going to bid on that Valco because we'll be that way on Thursday/Friday but I was worried they wouldn't be in for me to collect it!
The hood on the static seat is higher than on the reclining seat. The one selling today is with a static seat-I thought it was the reclining one! Hmm
