This is as imaginative as I get!Wink
Frigg, my Mum works for the City Council doing disability adaptations to resident's houses. She goes to assessments with an OT, decides on adaptations needed, designs them, draws up plans, applies for planning permission and oversees the work. She's been in the same job since she was 18 so she's learnt a lot about all sorts of dsabilities along the way.

I have been browsing toddler seat add on's both here in the UK and elsewhere and there are some interesting options. I think they look a little odd but I bet it's fun being at the front. I wonder if any toddler seats fold up small enough to stick in the basket to just whip out without it filling the whole basket up?

FriggFRIGG · 05/08/2011 16:10

oooh

aswellasyou · 05/08/2011 18:42

The Valcos are the other ones I've been looking at. They can be folded with the toddler seat still attached. And the Pedigree/Easylife Sport. The toddler seats are hard to find for the Pedigree though.

im sure a while ago we were talking about pushchair/pram/buggy/stroller word definition, well i might be wrong, but im a geek and i found this interesting.....Grin

Pushchairs and Strollers - The term stroller is American English and the term pushchair is British English. The child usually sits facing forwards. "Pushchair" was the popularly used term in the UK between its invention and the early 1980s, when a more compact design known as a "buggy" became the trend. Buggy is now the regular term used in the UK, however buggy is often used in American English to refer to a pram. The strict definition of pram is a vehicle for moving a baby around which consists of a small enclosed bed supported by a frame on four wheels. Newer versions of pushchairs can be configured to carry a baby lying down like a low pram and then be altered or reconfigured to carry the child in the forward facing position.

aswellasyou · 05/08/2011 19:45

It's strange they claim that buggy is the 'regular term in the UK'. I never really heard/read 'buggy' until I came to the MN pushchair section! Grin Maybe it's regional.

maybe it is,i here it a lot down here....

Honeydragon · 05/08/2011 21:05

Frigg, you'll love the Bee+ Grin

Tiggywunkle · 05/08/2011 21:10

That's pretty much what I say. Maybe I am just too old but in the old days you did have the proper coach built pram which the child sat in until they didn't need it any more, you could buy pushchairs ie more robust seats and frames and there was the buggy ie the maclaren umbrella fold. Stroller really is a relatively new term here. I would always call an umbrella fold a buggy but a more solid affair is a pushchair.

suzie38 · 05/08/2011 21:41

Sometimes i use 'buggy' if i can't be bothered to spell pushchair.

MonkeysPunk · 05/08/2011 22:04

I took the BJ summit out on the train today. I have to say, I think I prefer pushing the nipper! Blush
I know the nipper doesn't have the springy suspension of the summit, or the clever click on the side changebag, but in some ways the nipper is more user friendly... The nipper is faster, lighter, smaller and has a lovely large canopy, with useful pockets. The nipper has two baskets (back seat and underseat) the same as the summit. I find the nipper handlebar comfier, even though I'm not at all keen on the foam texture, ergonomically its better for me. The nipper frame feels sturdier when bouncing up and down flights of stairs than the BJ. The BJ summit feels as though its trying to flex in the middle when going up and down steps!
I might have to sell the BJ summit!

MonkeysPunk · 05/08/2011 22:08

Ds likes that he can lean really far forwards in the nipper seat, to take his shoes off or whatever, because the seat back comes forwards with him when he leans.
Ps I use "buggy" for a umbrella stroller, but use "pushchair" to mean something sturdier too.

I love reading pushchair comparisons. Feel free to write to BB any time you want!! The more pushchairs I see, the more I want to design the perfect pushchair! I am still undecided about out the trip in front of the cameras tomorrow. We haven't had chance to try the ABC in the car yet...so don't know if it fits. But that really would be ideal as DD just needs a ride there and then will walk. I think the Twinner Twist Duo is the one we will take if the ABC doesn't fit, but it's bright red and I want to hide! I love red normally!!! We will be walking on rough ground I think - parkland. The Nipper is in the boot currently...

Tiggywunkle · 05/08/2011 22:36

...but I could get some stunning photos of the Peach...

MonkeysPunk · 05/08/2011 22:38

I know, I really ought to write on BB....I will get around to it, one day soon. I've had loads of singles to write about!
Maybe you should take the nipper, its so easy to push on rough ground! Or I would take the BJ select if it can handle the terrain. The BJ select has so many configurations you are bound to be able to keep both passengers content!

MonkeysPunk · 05/08/2011 22:48

Check out the new bumprider buggyboard at www.pramworld.com. it can even fit on shopping trolleys! Looks a fab product and with good suspension. (no more rattling teeth! )

Tiggywunkle · 05/08/2011 22:52

If I could be sure the BJCS could handle the terrain then I would consider it but it's too heavy for me on anything other than smooth level ground these days with my two heavy children! It's only a short outing ie a couple of hours if that...but it's definitely off road...probably parking in a field, gravel tracks etc. I am not entirely sure the Peach would handle it although that's the one I would like to take. I want to take the Twinner Twist...but it's red.....and highly conspicious for someone who wants to hide!! Lol!

Tiggywunkle · 05/08/2011 22:53

The bumprider looks great although I hadn't spotted the suspension. I was reading about it earlier.

FriggFRIGG · 05/08/2011 23:00

i think you should take the ABC then your DD can jump off and walk about, otherwise you'll be pushing an empty seat,or struggling across rough terrain with unsuitable wheels....

that bumprider looksgood, buggy boards just dont work for me though,DD is too prone to tantruming and bolting!

Tiggywunkle · 05/08/2011 23:10

My DD is the same. She would need chaining onto a buggy hoard at this point in time. I would take the ABC but I am not sure it will fit in the car boot (but yet the Nipper and Peach both fit in at the same time) lol!

Tiggywunkle · 05/08/2011 23:11

Oh and I bet the Ciy Select would slide on the top too lololol I like thin pushchairs!

Tiggywunkle · 06/08/2011 15:31

We took the TFK Twinner Twist Duo. However we were very conspicuous with a bright red double pushchair. There's no way we will have avoided the cameras - they were around us for two hours!! But it was fantastic and the Twinner Twist Duo was the perfect choice for going over grass, cobbles, up and down grass verges, along gravel etc. Best of all which I didn't really think about, DD could easily hop in and out which she did. She liked putting her prizes in her side pocket. We did get wet though....I need a double raincover!! Now I think about it I am sure the Nipper came with one....

FriggFRIGG · 06/08/2011 16:36

I really like this... im not sure why,and i have no use for it whatsoever, but i like it.Grin

FriggFRIGG · 06/08/2011 16:40

suzie!

suzie38 · 06/08/2011 16:44

Haa Haa...Better get my dad on the job as he made our stair gates out of disgarded wodden pallets!!!
