😭

When I picture a nearly £2m house - this isn't it

Just to rub salt in the wound even further - what does £1.7m get you in your neck of the woods?

I found this property on the Rightmove Android app and wanted you to see it: www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/152686982

50 acres of land and fishing lakes with a house thrown in.

A few minutes away from that wreck of a house is this one for the same price. I know which I'd choose.

Crikey, it's a reasonable sized house but needs a lot of work.

Here's one in Glasgow for just over £1.7

I'm in Scotland. Want. This. Need to start playing Euromillions!

I'm in the cheaper bit of Yorkshire, for 800,000 you could buy a Georgian house with 7 beds and 5 bathrooms. And an annexe. And a huge walled garrden.

Where?

Not that I have 800k.

AngeloMysterioso · 16/11/2024 13:29

Well the house in the OP is a massive 6 bed detached house, less than half a mile from a station with a half hour service into the City and an outstanding primary school. A good renovation will probably triple that asking price.

Here’s what £1.75mil gets you in my very expensive town…

Nothing near me is more than £900k, but I found this one 30 mins away: www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/149662064?utm_campaign=property-details&utm_content=buying&utm_medium=sharing&utm_source=copytoclipboard#/&channel=RES_BUY

My goodness , that house has an amazing view and it's very near to the station (though you have the railway line next door ) but it is eye wateringly hideous quite an unusual house

I love that one! Beautiful 😍

LastTuesdayinMarch · 16/11/2024 19:42

Ok. So the house is in the London Borough of Enfield. Winchmore Hill is a highly desirable area.
The house is less than 10min walk to Grange Park Station which will get you to Moorgate in 33min.
Alternatively, it’s a short bus ride to Southgate Station where you can tube it to Kings X, Covent Garden in approx 30min.
The property is close to several good parks as well as numerous good pubs and restaurants.
Yes the house is project but as the saying goes - where there’s muck there’s brass

ortere · 16/11/2024 21:04

We're in an expensive bit of north London and it would get you a 3 bed garden flat here - although it is nicely decorated. That 6 bed house in the OP would feel like a mansion to me!

Exactly! It's as far north as you can get!

It's 35 minutes on the overground to Moorgate or King's Cross, and about the same on the Piccadilly line from Southgate. Good schools, big parks, so not a bad location for London.

Agree the price is ludicrous, it'll need at least 100k of work including a new roof
