When I picture a nearly £2m house - this isn't it

Just to rub salt in the wound even further - what does £1.7m get you in your neck of the woods?

In my area £1.7 will get you a Victorian terrace - either smaller with tiny garden but fully done up, or a bit larger but needing lots of work.

Something like the OP’s listing doesn’t exist but if it did it would be fought over and go for £3m+ due to the plot size and potential.

Wow where do you live?!

Wandsworth. It’s insane.

Up here in Geordieland, we have

Nothing 'passive' about the income this little gem could rake in,
HMO

A suburb reasonably close to town,
GOSFORTH

and something a little further out,
WOOLSINGTON

I can fill my bingo card with the Woolsington house.
Dining chairs with handles
Bath in the bedroom (wtf?)
Massive rooms with a bit of furniture in one corner.

At least it's not all battleship grey. There's almost definitely a pristine range rover on the drive when it's not being cleared for sale, though.

It’s a tear down. Potential to build a new mega home worth 3x.

Yes thats what they do in my area. This is the same - except it already has the PP in place to tear down and rebuild - so adds another £1m .... £3m for a PLOT

This is £1.9m but fully extended. £1.7m would be for the 3 bed version. NW6

I think we also got a bonus ball. I'm nearly certain that's a grand piano in the window of photo 5. I didn't see it at first.

Tetchypants · 15/11/2024 18:22

Insanity. No wonder most of my London mates are moving back up north.

minipie · 15/11/2024 18:23

paranoidmumdroid1 yep same round here 🙀

Mlanket · 15/11/2024 18:25

Wandsworth. It’s insane.

Wandsworth definitely has good sized terraces for under 1.7m…

Thunderpants88 · 15/11/2024 18:34

1.85m Northern Ireland gets you this. It even has an indoor spa and pool! www.propertypal.com/12-mullaghglass-road-lisburn/794533/slideshow

Sure, in the whole borough, but not my local area. There’s a couple at £1.6 but they are on the small side.

And this is why I am currently moving out of North London.
Much as I love it, I can't afford a shed, much less a house!

Mlanket · 15/11/2024 18:39

Wandsworth is a borough so I don’t know what part you are in?

I can find a house a road away from me that is 1.5m but a few roads after that they are closer to 1m. I still class them as my local area though. It’s pretty common in London to have different house prices in one or two streets vs another 2 streets.

Mlanket · 15/11/2024 18:40

School catchments & proximity to the station often adds ££££

Mlanket · 15/11/2024 18:41

Type of house makes a difference too eg Victorian vs 70s

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 15/11/2024 18:51

I love @ThianWinter's one !

The tower does it for me.

FrenchandSaunders · 15/11/2024 18:57

It looks like it has had squatters in there.

hilbil21 · 15/11/2024 18:59

The most expensive property in my local area - and it's half the price of that!

TribulationPeriwinkle · 15/11/2024 19:02

PickAChew · 15/11/2024 16:09

A terraced house right next to a railway line, at that.

In Stamford Hill!

cheapskatemum · 15/11/2024 19:04

EmmyPankhurst · 15/11/2024 18:27

This one makes Winchmore Hill look a bargain!

A two bed in a fabulous building but not very handy for public transport.
It doesn't even have a view.

https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/154556000#/?channel=RES_BUY

Is it a house or a greenhouse? I'm all for houseplants, but if you went away you'd need to employ an indoor gardener!
