😭

When I picture a nearly £2m house - this isn't it

Just to rub salt in the wound even further - what does £1.7m get you in your neck of the woods?

Enfield is hardly even London!

propertyporn1 · 15/11/2024 15:01

Surely these prices can't be sustainable?! Can they?? Will there be a sensible correction any time soon or are we stuck with these ridiculous prices for the foreseeable.

I'm gutted I was born in London as all my friends and family are here so chances are I will never leave... but the housing situation makes me want to cry! This isn't even near central London - way out in the suburbs, still a good hour commute into the city 😩

Enfield is hardly even London!

Exactly! It's as far north as you can get!

It is 6 bedrooms so bigger than a average. just in need of a lot of work!

For the same price you could have this in West Yorkshire

11 bedrooms! 😲

It's a big 6 bed, 3 bath house with a garden in a fairly desirable area. To be honest, I'm not that shocked at the price. I'm ever so slightly further in to London and for a house that big in a better condition you're looking at far, far more than £1.7m.

Lookingforwardto2025 · 15/11/2024 15:07

Nothing in that price range round here. This is on at 1.5 million.

That is probably structurally sound but not really London you could do better closer to London try Finchley.

MidnightPatrol · 15/11/2024 15:08

It’s amazing they can keep going up isn’t it.

You are looking at £1m for a two-bed cottage round here now.

A 4/5 bed terraced house will be from about £1.9m.

Totally unremarkable houses.

Quite depressing really knowing how completely unattainable what was in recent memory an ordinary family home is.

Gosh, that needs a little bit of TLC doesn't it? 😆

I just searched, and the only property that came up was a 1.9m dairy farm with 110 acres. 230 sq m house with four bedrooms. Doesn't say if the cows are included...

erihskreb · 15/11/2024 15:14

To be fair I think it is probably better value than this near me which is in better nick but much smaller in terms of plot and house size:

edit: just checked the floor plans actually mine is 10 sqm bigger - must be a very inefficient layout!

FrenchandSaunders · 15/11/2024 15:15

Christ that’s not even London really! I always thought Enfield was Middlesex!

PrincessAnne4Eva · 15/11/2024 15:18

@MiddleagedBeachbum Wow! That's really nice compared to what you can get in the place that we just moved out of:

The description for this is the most annoying I've ever read. I would almost make a point of not buying it because of it (not that I could ever afford it🤦🏻‍♀️)

Windmillsofyourminds · 15/11/2024 15:20

Where I live you would get a similar house but fully refurbished for that money.
