The previous thread is almost full! We've had lots of completions, exchanges, offers accepted, maddening conveyancing teams, strange requests, and worries to last a lifetime. Welcome welcome.

Catch up here: The all new buyers/sellers waiting room (continued) thread

My update is that everything seems to be lining up and we're looking at exchange next week. 🤞 Hoping to complete a few weeks after that.

Good luck to you, whatever stage you're at in the process.

Thanks for the new thread!

I've finally got my mortgage offer but the mortgage broker has added the wrong solicitors details! So annoying! Now waiting for the lender to issue a new offer and send it to the correct solicitor so the conveyancing can actually start (so far not impressed by the lack of communication from solicitors but hopefully when the offer comes through it'll get the ball rolling).

KatVal · 08/05/2024 08:43

Hi all, sympathy post alert 🙈 I'm feeling really overwhelmed at the minute. We're due to complete on the 20th but haven't exchanged yet. I've been put on the cancer pathway a few weeks ago after my last smear (tmi I know). Having biopsy on Thursday and lletz. I know that it's good that everything's happening so quickly but it's just come at the worst possible time if that even makes sense!

Oh my goodness I'm so sorry to hear that KatVal. It really is awful timing, as if moving house isn't stressful enough! Hopefully the move will go smoothly and you'll get positive results from the biopsy and procedure. Wishing you all the best Flowers

Thanks for the new thread @MovingToPlan

@KatVal sorry to hear you are getting checked out. The bright side to think on is that hopefully, if it is something, they will catch it quickly. Most tests do come back clear I believe, so keep a hold of that, but I completely agree that it is not what uou want to be dealing with whilst attempting to move home.
Sending hugs as the waiting and not knowing is the worst part (I speak from experience) xx

KatVal · 08/05/2024 09:04

Thanks both, I think the nurse worried me a bit during the smear so to then have high grade severe changes it's thrown me. Hopefully it isn't something untoward but just when things are stressful enough x

fromtheshires · 08/05/2024 09:07

Thanks for the new thread. Hopefully I wont make it to the end of this one... 😂

My seller wants before the next bank holiday for completion. It works for us. The issue is our buyers want to wait as they want a clean month for their notice so there is no overlap as they want to save as much money as possible 🙄. I know rent is expensive but when I was an FTB I had an overlap and I'm sure most others did too!

FTB-us-empty house should not be at week 14 and no dates sorted.

Chances are it will be nothing and it's great to see the NHS acting fast.

Couple of years ago DH went to the dentist the week before Christmas. Came home and said the dentist recons I have mouth cancer and has put an urgent referral in. He was seen the first week in January the following year so a 2 and a bit wait. Turns out it wasn't full blown cancer but pre cancerous cells so super regular checkups at the dentist and ENT for the next couple of years.

Hopefully everything will be fine for you and its just them being cautious

It's scary isn't it when they mention cancer right off the bat! Thank you, hopefully it's just precancer. I'm usually quite a practical, reasonable person but I think because I've been so stressed above the move I've gone into overdrive! Thank you all for your well wishes and words of reason x

Checking in to the new thread.

It's been nearly four weeks since our chain completed, although we couldn't proceed for about 10 days due to a delay with some estate agent checks on our buyer. Survey was done on our current property and also on the one we are buying yesterday, so hopefully we will start to progress soon.

We ideally want to move anytime from mid-June to mid-August which I'm hoping is realistic.

MovingToPlan · 08/05/2024 09:40

I hope it's all straightforward and the checkup doesn't reveal anything serious, @KatVal. You certainly don't need more stress at this point! 💐

Joining! Accepted an offer on ours about a month ago and had an offer accepted on our onward purchase last week.

Our buyer is in rented on a one month rolling contract and our sellers are yet to find somewhere so the chain hasn't closed as yet.

We're hoping to move by the end of summer but I don't know if that's optimistic as our sellers haven't found somewhere yet!

fromtheshires · 08/05/2024 12:49

So I spoke to fucking soon this morning...

Just had a call from the estate agents saying our buyer has pulled out. Apparently they cannot afford the house until later in the year despite having a mortgage approved and a large cash deposit and only yesterday we were talking about dates.

I am broken.

Sorry to hear that! It's devastating when that happens, sounds like there may be another reason!

WitchyWay · 08/05/2024 13:04

@KatVal as if moving isn't stressful enough, I can imagine your brain is in overdrive now. If you can get through the next few weeks/months then you can get through anything! Wishing you lots of luck and strength.

We're now waiting for our mortgage offer, valuation surveys and searches etc. we're in the middle of a 3 chain so I'm hoping we'll be moving by the Summer. I'm spending every evening mentally decorating my new house, will be gutted if anything happens now!

Moving is not for the faint hearted!

KatVal · 08/05/2024 13:06

Thank you @WitchyWay really appreciate it, hopefully it means we can get all of the bad shit out of the way quickly for this year 🙈 I'm like you, I've already decorated every inch of the house in my head!

WitchyWay · 08/05/2024 13:09

@KatVal totally, I guess in for a penny, in for a pound. Fingers crossed it's nothing too serious and before you know it, you'll be putting all your decorating plans into place!

MovingToPlan · 08/05/2024 13:59

Oh no, @fromtheshires that's absolutely awful. My vendors had a similar experience, their original buyers dropped out of the sale for no real reason - but we had already viewed the property but missed out on it, and as soon as we saw it was back on the market we put an offer in.

Have a word with your EA, see if anyone else is interested in it. Fingers crossed for you.

Already on it house is back on the market and we have asked our seller to hold the house for a month to see if we can get a buyer. The house has been empty for almost a year so 4 more weeks hopefully wont hurt.

I'll be gutted if we lost this house but everything happens for a reason

lingmerth · 08/05/2024 14:50

Had a phone call today from estate agents of house were buying to say owners have changed their mind and taken house off the market. We're only 2 weeks down the line but nearly 2 months down the line with selling our house. Deviated is an understatement.
Feels like this move is not meant to be.

lingmerth · 08/05/2024 14:51

@KatVal hope all is OK. @fromtheshires oh my goodness what a nightmare my stomach dropped for you.

No news here, although my buyers have been asking me questions via the estate agent, that I have answered in the property information form / fixtures and fittings so I queried with my solicitor what info she's sent! She's been amazing though so would suspect the problem is not my end! 😬

redmapleleaves1 · 08/05/2024 17:59

@KatVal do hope it all goes well for you. As others have said, good to be having the tests, - I had some similar last month, and completely get how stressful it is alongside the house process.

Checking back in here after a long gap to say exchanged today. It has been a long old haul, what with the decluttering and diy process to get it saleable first. House on market end Nov, got a buyer in 10 days, but who pulled out just before exchange.... Back on market, with my purchase property only giving me a week to find someone else, which I did. Various shilly shallying, negotiations and extended delays, and finally here we are.

This is my first time buying in a chain/not being at the bottom of the chain, and I shan't ever do it like this again. Will be happy to break the chain, and then buy with the cash in hand, one thing at a time. Trying to keep the different people and their agendas happy has been massively stressful. Though on reflection my other purchases were when 8.5 months pregnant with my first, and on divorce, so maybe it is just when there were multiple distractions I was less aware of what could go wrong with the house :)

Delurking to offer my sympathy, that's absolutely rubbish. Your stress levels must be through the roof. Fingers crossed for a speedy new buyer for you.

Also crossing everything for you too katval. The waiting is agonising.

fromtheshires · 08/05/2024 19:05

Thanks for all the support everyone.

Our seller has given us two weeks to get it sold again but with the state of the market around here I'm not hopeful. We can afford to drop another £5k so £12k off the asking in total but thats it 😢.

The house is half packed as well so whoever sees it is going to be like what the fuck, we cant even get in these two rooms.
