What could 1 million pounds buy you within 10 miles of where you live?

Inspired by a recent thread that really made me realise how wildly different house prices are around the country

This is the highest listed one near me. A 5 bed barn conversion with nearly 2.5 acres of land

Oooh this is fun! Funnier still, for exactly 1 mil there is not much 😆

A nice enough 4 bed detached or extended semi in good nick with a decent garden, but not on one of the nicest roads (for that you would be looking upwards of £1.5m).

Well from me, you can either go closer to the city centre and get sod all for your million (an appartment), or you can go into the woods/rural areas and get a mansion, even with a pool. It's very surprising how the values of property change within a small-ish distance. I only set rightmove to a 10 mile radius!

I'm sort of just outside the edge of London so inside London it only gets you a 3 or 4 bed property, albeit very much on the nicer end. Outside London you start getting 5 to 7 beds for the same cost within 20 miles of each other.
