Just that they’ve changed their minds. I wonder if they’ve got cold feet over the financing — they were planning a complicated set up that was low LTV on the house we’re selling but would have left them highly leveraged overall.

It has occurred to me that they might also be hoping for something from the autumn statement tomorrow. Oh well.

@NewFriendlyLadybird that is awful! I honestly think people need to have certain lock out points, beyond which they can’t pull out (earlier than exchange). People waste so much time and money in this system.

That is shocking though, I am so sorry @NewFriendlyLadybird. Its my biggest fear honestly throughout this whole process, so unfair that anyone can do this at any point before exchange.

We've also had negative news this morning as the elderly owners of our onward house have pulled out of their purchase after the survey and solicitor searches ... so our short chain is creaking, if not broken.
So depressed. Our cash buyer only offered on our house on the understanding we had a quick and complete chain. So frightened they'll pull out now.
Can't bear to start this all a third time. And lose another few thousand £££s weeps
EA is trying to stay positive, says the owners have two other options that could still give them vacant possession, so keeping my fingers crossed they make a quick decision this week.

DH and I just gave permission to exchange (he was here when the solicitor rang, conveniently!).

@NoWordForFluffy something about a 150 year old covenant that they wanted an indemnity for. No idea. But it's all sorted and they agreed no indemnity was needed.

My solicitor finishes work at 3pm on a Tuesday so that means no date has been agreed today.

Rental not really an option as we run a business from our studio at home and need continuation for our clients (internet connection, registered company address all the boring stuff).
Plus my lovely rescue cat :( I can't bear to put him back into a shelter after 5 years of comfiness and love with us. He's a ball of anxious stress at the best of times.
We've talked about it this morning and we -could- take office space for a bit and rent, but it's expensive and feels so haphazard (and sad for cat).
An option is a similar house in the same area that is advertised on RM as chain-free, but it's £40k over what we can afford. Doubt they'll come down tbh.

It almost feels anticlimactic, weirdly! All the build up of stress over the last few months, and now it's another - planned - wait til completion.

Suppose we really do need to get packing now!

People we're buying from have now suggested the 15th which is later than we wanted and our buyer wanted. They're moving in with family so can't imagine they'll even be doing anything on completion day, surely most people would be out before then anyway. So that's quite frustrating really. But maybe got a date at least
