Buyers/Sellers Exchange waiting room new thread

I noticed the last one was full, so here we go!

Hello to the newcomers and welcome back to those who are still working their way through the joys of house buying/selling.

Less than a week

The searches on my sale took around a week, maybe less.

The searches for my purchase took several weeks and then another week for them to be reviewed.

Oh wow that’s quick we’re selling ours no chain either side (cash buyer) I know our LA are returning them in 5 days but buyers solicitor say it will be another week yet (so total 3 weeks) hopefully will be next week.

So we viewed two houses today. The first was a hard no; the pictures made it look so much bigger and in better condition, but the second is lovely and we've put in an offer 🤞

solicitors have confirmed they’ve got our deposit so big sigh of relief and await exchange next week. Actually can’t believe we’re nearly at the end of the line - almost 2 years of trying to sell/buy!

We've completed on our house purchase!!! I know I should be high as a kite but I am soooo exhausted at what a roller coaster it has been I could actually sleep for a week now I actually have the keys in my hands! Excited to move in properly on Monday and start making it our own. Hope we managed to get some folk exchanging today! xx

We should have exchanged contracts today, but our estate agent rang this morning to say that the first time buyers at the start of the chain hadn’t returned their signed contract! Their solicitor was going to go to their home to collect it!
Now we’ll be on tenterhooks all weekend (again..) waiting to see whether everything will go ahead next week..
The waiting is interminable and I never, ever want to go through this again.
Fingers crossed for everyone else hanging around for something to happen!

This is my exact experience and I'm finding it so blooming frustrating. I'm on week 8 and have no idea how close we are now to exchange or even talking dates. No idea what is happening in the chain behind me and we are a small chain! When I've received enquiries I've responded on the same day. No idea how the searches have gone, no idea if there's more enquiries - completely in a dark hole at the moment

mycarsnores it does feel like the whole world can't be arsed doing detail in their job atm.

We didn't exchange, fingers crossed for Monday because Tuesday will be cutting it very fine for my buyers to give notice.

Gosh congratulations for those over the line or approaching it! And commiserations for those treading water, going backwards or restarting. Ticking along ok here. Searches back, report on title back (which is a bit more complicated as made of more small parcels than expected! -so extra solicitor charge). Had quite a few enquiries for vendors but a broadly very positive survey. Not had enquiry responses back yet. Solicitor suggests sellers not being quick with their replies to anything re forms etc. Estate agent seems to have lost a lot of staff and be firefighting so managing existing chains gone to bottom of the pile. Crossing everything for completion mid August so kids can start in sept, guessing we won't be the only ones pushing for that though

Onto more enquiries here too. So nice to hear about everyone crossing the finishing line, it gives hope to the rest of us. We are hoping to complete mid July and have hears some on the chain are ready now. Fingers crossed

The vendors of house two haven't said no to our offer, but have said they'll be interested when our buyers have a new buyer for theirs. Our buyers have five or six viewings lined up, according to their estate agent, so hopefully someone will make an offer for them

Didn’t exchange today either. Hoping again for Monday, but again I’m not hopeful as our buyer keeps messing around and delaying

another interesting day ahead....I still have no confidence today. the entire chain, apart from our buyers are ready to exchange, and have been for weeks, yet the buyer's solicitors just aren't doing anything and keep stalling. it's so incredibly frustrating!

@Grasshopper42 For the bungalow we're buying they were all back within a week, for my house (different LA) they took at least a couple of weeks, maybe three.
