Can we start a lovely thread with pics of your kitchens to give me some inspiration?? I'm finally in the position this year to have a new kitchen but I'm really unsure. I do like gloss kitchens but I also like painted shaker kitchens.:-)

I don’t have a lovely kitchen to show you, but highly recommend you have look on diy-kitchens at the photos of real customer kitchens. There are hundreds of them.

Thanks @FrogFairy - I've heard good things on here about diy-kitchens but I do worry personally about ordering a kitchen in this way in case we get the measurements wrong or something as we are in NO way good at DIY!! :-0

Use their planning service online and then visit the showroom, a consultant will sit with you and go through your plan. Alternatively, get a plan done by a local kitchen company and ask DIY kitchens to fill your online basket according to the plan, that's what we did. Then we visited the showroom, it was well worth the 4 hour drive for us. Ours is now on order after making the most of the 10% discount! Smile
Cant show you ours yet but hopefully others will post shortly with some pics

It's fabulous @bouncydog!!! Where did you get yours from? :-)

Local supplier, but the manufacturer is Prentice kitchens. It’s white maple. Worktops are star galaxy granite. The peninsular unit on the right is rounded at the end and has cupboards on the other side. You could achieve a similar look with diy kitchens if you get a kitchen fitter to fit it as even the most expensive kitchens look rubbish if poorly fitted! Top tip from me - take your time in designing it. I convinced my poor husband we had to move a doorway ( he was pleased we did at the end). 😂😂

Whichhouseisbest · 21/03/2019 07:32

Bouncydog, can I ask how wide your kitchen is? It looks gorgeous. So nice! Was it very expensive?

IDrinkAndISewThings · 21/03/2019 09:33

Here's some of mine, we renovated in July (well, July through to December!) The units are actually about 20 years old, we had them professionally sprayed and jiggled a few around. I adore it! I've included some pics of the old kitchen so you can see the change.

ChaircatMiaow · 21/03/2019 09:38

God, I love a bit of kitchen porn Grin

GottaGetUp · 21/03/2019 09:40

Watching as I also need inspiration. All of Pinterest is so bland.

BrigitsBigKnickers · 21/03/2019 09:48

Oh wow! A kitchen designer from Howdens has literally just left! We have a white kitchen at the moment but exactly the same style as yours Idrinkandsewthings

One of the options we have considered is to have it peeled and sprayed with new floor and wall tiles. Yours looks fab!

rosinavera · 21/03/2019 09:54

@IDrinkAndSewThings

Idrink my kitchen is identical to yours, same wood, style and handles, even the tiles are similar! Can I ask how much it was to get it painted? No need to ask if you are happy with it! I would love a new kitchen but we are skint. as usual

JaneJeffer · 21/03/2019 10:30

I want a new kitchen

I love your table kitty

kittybee · 21/03/2019 10:38

Thank you Jane. It was from Habitat many years ago.

ApolloandDaphne · 21/03/2019 10:38

Here is mine. It was done a few years ago now. We got a cabinet maker to do our units and they are painted. It means we can refresh them when needed. I love it even though it is quite simple and I have no fancy gadgets.

IDrinkAndISewThings · 21/03/2019 11:24

@Deadringer I must admit I'm not sure how much it was as our mates a painter so it was a mate's rates job, but I know the paint was £350 which made me poop my pants a bit! 🙈 He painted other areas of the house during the re-do and did our tiling as well, so it was an all-in cost. However if you consider the cost of a new kitchen versus painting the existing then it's a no brainer. Our joiner said that the build quality of our 20 year old kitchen would far surpass anything we bought new. I can't believe the difference in painting it white, the whole room is so much cleaner and brighter, and the paint is very hard wearing and easy to clean. I'm in love :)

Spicylolly · 21/03/2019 11:29

Love your floor Kitty!

kittybee · 21/03/2019 11:37

Thanks Spicy. The floor itself wasn’t expensive, but the time involved in fitting it in the herringbone pattern bumped the cost up a bit. Well worth it though.

Wrongdissection · 21/03/2019 11:45

Oooh love a bit of kitchen stuff, we’re just getting quotes for ours to be resprayed now and they range from £800 to £1950. We plan to replace everything else except the carcasses and doors so new floor, worktops, tiles etc. Hoping to bring it in for around 3.5k in total using one of the mid quotes. This is what we have now vs the look we’re going for.
