Hi @pateandbrie, how are you doing now? I seem to have settled quite well on the 5mg - about 1kg a week loss each week.
I've got my bonus dose for this Monday and then I'll decide whether to go up to 7.5 or just count clicks to 5.
It still feels a bit surreal to be honest - I've never found controlling my eating so easy.
I'm really hoping that I can change my eating habits for good over the long term 🤞🤞

Hi everyone. I'm just about to use my last dose at 7.5. MedExpress only send me 4 needle tips at a time. I see you all talking about getting the bonus dose out but I've not done that before and have no idea how. Do you use your own needles - where do you get them from?

I'm 24lbs down since August 3rd and so happy to have found a way to get a grip on my weight. Not sure if I want to stick at 7.5 or move up to 10. Symptoms are manageable and I don't want to rock the boat - just a bit of tiredness 2 days after I jab and constipation solved by prunes on my bran flakes and a glycerine suppository in extremis - who knew they could be a magic bullet!

Hi @whethertheweather

I bought some insulin needles from an online chemist (I think.)

I find them really easy to get the bonus dose out with, and then because the needles are longer than the needle tips supplied you need to angle them so that you inject subcutaneously. Honestly it's much easier than I've made it sound and no need to try to force twist the pen.

I'm on 7.5mg and I've just ordered the same again as I think going up to 10mg currently might be too much.

I started a few days before you and I've lost just over 2 stone, like you I feel so happy to have found something that works for me. I drink prune juice every 2-3 days and that has stopped the constipation for me, other than that I've been really lucky with no negative side effects (hence not wanting to increase the dose unnecessarily.)

I ordered the insulin needles, but I'm a bit of a wimp about the longer needle. Actually, MedExpress sent me 6 needle tips with my new order of 10mg that arrived today, so if I can I'll try to twist the pen for the bonus 7.5 dose tomorrow and only use the insulin needles if I have trouble.

Small things make you feel better about this journey. This week I bought two pairs of M&S bootleg jeans in a size 16 in the hope they might fit in a couple of weeks, but I'm sitting in them now! I started out in a size 22, so feeling really good about it. I also bought a couple of better quality more fitted jumpers - still M&S size large due to my boobs - but I no longer feel like I need to hide in my Sainsburys acrylic square sweaters that go bobbly as soon as I look at them.

I'm seeing my DD for the first time in a while tonight. I wonder if she'll notice!

JamieFrasersSassenach · 25/10/2024 18:28

I know what you mean about the size of the needles @whethertheweather!!

I keep thinking could I just only put the needle into my skin a few mms?
I only use one at the end of the pen - I'm more worried about breaking the pen by trying to twist it so hard though.

Let me know how you get on.

That's brilliant news about your new jeans & jumpers!! I'm wearing clothes to work that I haven't worn probably since pre-lockdown.

Colleagues are therefore starting to notice that I've lost weight - it's about 2.5 stone now.

I've just been saying that I've cut down my portion sizes when asked how I'm doing it and not giving a weight loss - just saying I don't weigh myself (I didn't before starting MJ.).

I have a conscience problem now though in that one of my colleagues is really struggling to lose weight and keeps asking me what I'm doing, now they are saying that I am their inspiration. I feel awful that I haven't been completely honest with them, but not even DH knows I'm doing this. So I'm torn between telling my colleague and staying silent. Aaargh!!!!

I'm feeling really happy . I started this mission at the beginning of August and have lost nearly 3 stone. Any now my latest blood test shows that my Hba1c level has fallen from 47 at it's worst to 37. The nurse says I no longer need to take Metformin as a preventative to stop me becoming pre-diabetic.

On the downside, DH is now doing what he always does when I'm on a diet and starting to moan that we don't eat the same thing, or saying "no I won't have a mince pie if you're not having one" with a sad look on his face. His response to my blood test was "that's what happens when you starve yourself" (I am not). He is Type II but refuses to properly engage with it and is reacting in anticipation of his own test results being less than ideal.

Previously I always cave to stop the negativity in the house and then allow all my bad habits re-emerge, but I really don't want to this time. Time to concentrate on me for a bit I think!
