I've only told DH (because I wanted to assure him of the steps I was taking to rescue him from my ever-worsening snoring) and he quite wisely told me not to tell anyone as it's none of their business. No one has commented (yet!!) but if they do I'm just going to say I'm eating less and moving more, both of which are true.

People are funny about these jabs as you can see if it's ever mentioned on the main mumsnet boards - you see people saying they're cheating, the "easy way out", who would ever do it, the weight will just come back as no habits are being changed, we're taking medication away from those who really need it, etc. The judgy comments are incredible and the underlying implication is that those who are obese did it to themselves and therefore they need to lose weight the hard way. I don't think people realise that if you are on MJ then you still need to re-train yourself to change the way you eat in order to lose weight and we'll have to keep eating this way after coming off this medication.

@JamieFrasersSassenach I did the bonus dose on Weds, made it much easier to throw the 2.5 pen away once it was empty - it was at least a full dose in there. I do feel like I'm ready to move up to 5mg next week though as even with the weight I've lost so far I'm still teetering on the edge of the obese BMI category, and I've got high cholesterol too so really want to get my weight down - especially around my middle. And to stop the snoring for the sake of my poor old DH.

JamieFrasersSassenach · 23/08/2024 17:12

@Xiaoxiong I agree about people having very strange ideas about Mounjaro. To be fair I had never even heard of it until I saw one of the threads about it on here.

It's one of those instances where people who are not obese have a real superiority complex that those of us who are, it's because we are lazy and have no willpower - like we choose to be obese!!!! They are so lucky not to understand.

My plan is also to simply tell people I'm eating less and exercising more as they begin to notice my weight loss. As you say - that's the truth, they don't need to know what has made it possible for me to do so.

I'm just so grateful that I found Mounjaro - and I think if it's necessary I will stay on it forever on a maintenance dose once I reach my goal weight. I'm hoping that changing my eating habits will be enough but I have been there before many times and for me it's never that simple.

Hoping I have at least another dose in my pen - feeling concerned about the jump from 2.5 to 5 in case it makes me feel unwell. Let us know how you get on with the 5mg.

pateandbrie · 24/08/2024 07:04

I'm home and just weighed. Lost 1lb this week which obviously isn't much but I'm happy with it for two reasons - first because that's after a week away when usually I'd come back several pounds heavier, and second because it's the magic number that takes me to 1 stone lost in the first month!!

Just waiting for pen number 2 to arrive now. I feel ready to go up to 5mg - I've definitely felt more hungry over the last couple of days and I haven't had any side effects to speak of so I feel like it's time.

Otherwise, goals for the next week are to get back to the gym and cut down the wine!!

Great NSV yesterday- went out for my mum's birthday and was able to wear a dress that I couldn't zip up when I tried it a month ago!!

Also an amazing actual scale victory today - my weight now starts with a 13 for the first time in I don't know how long.

SW: 15 stone
CW: 13 stone 11 (after 4 and a half weeks of MJ)

Target: 10 stone 5 to get into 'healthy' BMI.

Hi All
Late joiner for August. I started last Sunday and seem to have lost 5lb lot despite being on holiday and drinking a fair amount. I'm low carbing where possible - tricky as a guest though.
If anyone is interested in tracking their weight loss, I've created a 6-month tracker here, there is a page for kg and another for lb.

I've also created an information site here with the information collated by the very knowledgeable ObsidianTree.

Mounjaro Weightloss Tracker

Hi all 👋

Some fab losses and NSVs - well done everyone!! @pateandbrie how lovely to be in your dress!! I've got my belt done up another notch and my bras are not leaving such red welts around my ribs!! I'm eyeing up some of my old clothes that I think will fit again in about another 5 - 7lbs. It's so exciting!!

Last week I had my last 2.5mg injection. Tonight I am going to do the bonus dose using an insulin needle - anyone on here done this and have any tips for me please?

I am a little worried about going up to 5mg next week in case I get lots of side effects from it. I haven't had many at all on the 2.5, but the suppression is starting to wear off sooner. I may try to count the clicks next week and just do 3.75 - has anyone tried that?

Thanks 😊

Hi! I did a 3.75 dose before I went on holiday and I believe it equates to 45 clicks of the pen, instead of 60. Prep in the same way, turn really slowly and count each click and stop at 45 and do the rest in the same way. ☺️

Thank you @90yomakeuproom - I found getting the bonus dose out with the insulin needle really easy, and I got an extra 0.10ml on top of the 0.60ml so I feel like I’ve started the increase already (albeit v slowly!)

I think I might go for 3.75 next week simply because I don’t want to floor myself with either no appetite at all or horrible side effects.

Did you find doing one at 3.75 and then doing 5 the next week worked ok for you, or did you still feel a big difference at either increase?

90yomakeuproom · 27/08/2024 20:42

Well the reason I did 3.75 was because I went up to 5ml the week before and felt terrible all week. I injected on the Sunday and was sick on the Monday and then didn't fell better until Thursday or Friday. Unless it was a bug but I don't think it was. I was going on holiday the following week so didn't want to risk it and reduced the dose and felt fine! I've had 5 this week and feel fine so far. ☺️

JamieFrasersSassenach · 27/08/2024 23:23

Thanks @90yomakeuproom - I think I will do 3.75 next week just to be on the safe side. Glad to hear you're doing okay on 5 now.

Whatintheholywoah · 28/08/2024 17:52

Hi…..well done on all the losses it’s an amazing feeling isn’t it! After week 6 and 2 weeks on 5mg I’ve lost a total of 1 stone 9lb. All my clothes are baggy and I’m looking forward to rummaging through my pre pregnancy clothes this week to see what fits. 😆 My son is 17 months so it’s been a long while 😂
The first 2 weeks on 5mg I had nausea the first few days so if you’re worried about that you can buy anti sickness tablets which really helped me. Med express sell cyclizine which is what the gp prescribes £10 inc delivery for 30 or boots sell Phenergan travel sickness tablets. Week 3 I can already feel the effects waning which was the same on 2.5 so will definitely be moving up to 7.5.
On holiday the 5th of September so am going to tweak my dates so I can enjoy a few days and delay 7.5 until I get back.

Hey guys, I’ve lost 15lbs in 5 weeks, just took my first 5mg shot yesterday, I’ve been lucky that I’ve had almost no side effects other than tiredness and lack of appetite- which is obviously the aim.

my starting weight was at the lower end as I have pre diabetes and my BMI is now 26 I’m unsure if Zava will continue to prescribe once my BMI gets down to 25.

Has anyone here ordered using curate? They seem to have a big following on TikTok, but I haven’t heard them mentioned elsewhere at all.

GoodLuckBabe · 28/08/2024 20:23

Hi @LS17Pixie , where did you find your referral code in the end?

whethertheweather · 30/08/2024 09:56

Hello. I'm due to have my first 5mg dose on Saturday. I've had no great side-effects so far but have lost 12lbs so hooray! For those who have already done it, did you find there a massive ramp up in side effects with the new dose and if so have you found they last all week?

It's my son's graduation ceremony on Thursday and I don't fancy sitting there for hours endlessly clapping whilst feeling vomitorious. Got to negotiate a post-ceremony lunch too.

Xiaoxiong · 30/08/2024 10:11

@whethertheweather how have your side effects been on 2.5mg? I had my first dose of 5mg on Weds and no side effects except the appetite surpression has certainly come back as it had been at the start with 2.5mg. My body was definitely getting too comfortable on 2.5mg. (I didn't have any significant side effects on 2.5mg except feeling a bit cold.)

2 days after my first 5mg jab and the scales are finally moving down again, hurrah - down 1kg since this time last week, down 2.5kg in the last month, and down 6kg since I started which I think is a stone!

No real side effects at all actually apart from not feeling hungry and a bit of constipation, and that's probably because I need to up the fibre in my diet.

Xiaoxiong · 30/08/2024 10:45

@whethertheweather I've been having 2Tbsp chia seeds in the morning which does give you 10g of fibre right there, 1/3 of what you need for the day - soaked in a bit of milk while I make the kids breakfasts, and then mixed with some yoghurt and topped with a sprinkle of seeds and whatever berries I have around. Before taking MJ I thought chia seeds were completely disgusting and would never have willingly eaten them - in fact, within the last 6 months there was a time I moaned to my work besties about how I had been given a vegan chia pudding instead of a yoghurt & granola bowl at a breakfast meeting and had to choke down this nasty slimy frogspawn etc.

And now I've had 6 weeks of chia seeds almost every morning because I just kind of...don't mind so much anymore? I guess because it's just food I need to have to nourish my body, the chia seeds serve a purpose, they're not there for my pleasure and enjoyment - I remind myself that I get pleasure from other things that aren't food.

pateandbrie · 31/08/2024 10:04

Morning all! I started 5mg this week (on Wednesday) but I've shifted my weighing day to Saturday because I was away last week and couldn't weigh until then. I've only gone and lost another 5lb! So total loss 22lb in about 5 weeks.

This is completely life changing, I can't believe I didn't start it before. I was a bit worried about stepping up to 5mg - I hadn't had any side effects on 2.5 but doubling the dose seemed like a lot - but it's been absolutely fine. Only possible side effect is slight constipation 🤭 but I took a couple of senna tablets before bed and all sorted the next day.

Voy have been brilliant, the pen came automatically and on time for my next jab, no stress at all. I only managed to start this by using someone's code for a discount and luckily last month someone used mine so I got money off my 5mg pen. I'd be so grateful if just one person could use it again this month so that I can carry on 🙏

SW 15 stone
CW 13 stone 6
Goal: 10 stone 5

JamieFrasersSassenach · 31/08/2024 11:08

Well done @pateandbrie 👏👏👏

That's brilliant!!

I'm interested to hear that you didn't notice any side effects going up to 5mg. I'm due to increase tomorrow/Monday and still undecided whether to go for the full 5mg or 3.75. I'm also not sure whether to bring it forward one day to Sunday night or do it on Monday night - I originally started on Wednesday mornings, I brought it forward to Tuesday two weeks ago and then Monday night last week with the bonus dose as I'm definitely feeling the effects wearing off faster for the 2.5 now, so definitely need to increase.

I'm 13lbs down in 4.5 weeks which is amazing - I have never lost so much in that time frame before!

I still love this witchcraft!!

pateandbrie · 31/08/2024 11:29

Bloody brilliant @JamieFrasersSassenach well done!!! 👏👏👏👏

I think from what I've read that the bonus dose is more than 2.5 so if you haven't had any problems with that then I'd be tempted to go straight on to 5. It's definitely brought the suppression back for me - like you it was wearing off quite quickly on the 2.5 so it's a relief to have it back again, although it's still not as dramatic as it was after my very first dose!

Xiaoxiong · 31/08/2024 11:45

No move on the scales today but I managed to get comfortably back into my old size 12 "thin" jeans - they're high waisted thick non-stretch ones that I haven't been able to get past mid-thigh for quite a while. I didn't realise how long it's been since I could fit into them, but it shows that the measurements round my thighs, bum and belly are definitely going down as well.
