That's so encouraging @IrresponsibleMum - really well done to you!

ElsaMars · 31/07/2024 13:59

I'm definitely 'off' food and I only did my first jab last Friday, I'm eating very little for me, I think even DH is impressed and pretty amazed that I haven't touched the chocolate he bought me last week! 😄

pateandbrie · 31/07/2024 18:41

Joining - my first pen arrived today. Have about five stone to lose and like others I've been dithering about it for ages but decided I should just take the plunge.

Am going to do my first injection tonight as others said better to do it before bed to minimise side effects. Eek!

pateandbrie · 01/08/2024 13:10

How's everyone doing? I'm sure this is all in my head and is a prime example of placebo effect but I did my first injection last night and haven't been hungry at all this morning. I have thought a couple of times about eating but then stopped myself and thought am I hungry or is it just boredom/habit? And it was. And I haven't had anything.

I'm going to make myself some lunch shortly even though I'm still not at all hungry. Usually after I have lunch I start craving sweet things halfway through the afternoon so will see if that happens...

JamieFrasersSassenach · 01/08/2024 15:24

I did my first injection yesterday morning and didn't feel much different but today I have not felt hungry at all - a glass of water filled me up!! I've just eaten a hard boiled egg for some protein but I didn't feel like I wanted anything to eat.
It's very strange compared to how I usually feel and I am wondering if it's partly placebo so soon?

pateandbrie · 01/08/2024 16:09

I'm exactly the same @JamieFrasersSassenach and in fact I also had a boiled egg for lunch as I was conscious I needed to have something with protein in it! Can't believe that it's now ten past four and I've only had one boiled egg all day and I'm just not hungry.

Witchcraft.

thatsmyumbrellaellla · 01/08/2024 20:50

Hi- I've just received my first pen from Voy after using a code on here - wondering about future orders does anyone know if there are discount codes after your first pen or how it works if you go to a different supplier with a discount code can you start on the higher dose? Thanks for any help really hoping this works as well as it seems to for others

Xiaoxiong · 01/08/2024 21:05

I'm the same - did my second jab yesterday. Today I had yoghurt and a pear for breakfast and then nothing until dinner and even that I could have skipped as I just wasn't that hungry! Had 2 chicken drumsticks and some roasted Mediterranean veg and enjoyed it but that was more than enough.

Hoping this is my body saying it's got plenty of fuel in the spare tyre round my midriff, so no need for loads more food please. And I can hear it now as the mounjaro's quieted down all the thoughts of food in my head.

JamieFrasersSassenach · 02/08/2024 11:39

Just popping on to say that since yesterday (day 2) I have genuinely felt no hunger at all.

I have never ever NOT felt hungry- it's amazing, as @pateandbrie said - it's witchcraft!!

@Xiaoxiong - do you have any sort of meal plan to follow? Whilst I'm delighted that I have no desire to eat I know that I need to eat - so I feel that I should be creating small but nutritionally balanced meals to eat, rather than just picking at things.

Hi @thatsmyumbrellaellla 👋 - I'm using Voy - they give you a code to share with friends to get ingoing discounts - there are lots of threads on the promotion and discount board where you can post yours. Hopefully someone will use it for their first order and you'll then have a discount for your next.

pateandbrie · 02/08/2024 13:11

@JamieFrasersSassenach I'm the same - day 2 and still not hungry. DH cooked steak for dinner last night and I enjoyed it but literally just ate the steak, let him have all my chips, just wasn't fussed.

Haven't had anything yet today either. I'm finding this a bit weird tbh - I do need to lose a lot of weight but if this just tricks you into thinking you're not hungry so you starve the weight off, that doesn't seem very healthy/sustainable?

Off to make myself another boiled egg for lunch in a minute!

pateandbrie · 02/08/2024 13:12

Also I got mine through Voy too but I can't see that I've been sent a code to share - any idea where I would find that?

Xiaoxiong · 02/08/2024 13:37

Yes it's in an odd place on the app - I got to it by clicking the account button in the top right hand corner, then Order History, then clicking on the three line menu in the top left corner when the window popped up and if you scroll down you'll see your name and then below that, refer a friend.

On the website it's more straightforward, just "refer a friend" in the top right when you log in.

Xiaoxiong · 02/08/2024 13:37

I was about to say don't post it on here as MN is trying to corrall all codes onto one thread, but I just noticed that this thread's already been moved out of weight loss into promo codes and bargains!!!

Xiaoxiong · 02/08/2024 13:55

@JamieFrasersSassenach I've had enough years of cooking and dieting to have a whole shelf full of meal plans and diet cookbooks unfortunately...

But I did get a free downloadable one-week meal plan from the College Nutritionist that I have been using for inspiration, mainly around how to get in enough protein without eating too much! I'm trying to focus on high protein low volume food. Ironically when I used to diet I'd go for high volume food to avoid hunger but with MJ the hunger appears to have been taken away for me by the jab and if I eat high volume anything I get full too quickly to get in the protein I want.

So overall aiming for 3 small, high-protein high-nutritive meals per day and MJ makes it easy to keep portions small and not have seconds. Breakfast is either scrambled eggs, yoghurt & fruit, or overnight oats with chia seeds. Lunch the last few days has been tuna salad in lettuce boats, kale & white bean soup, or ham wrapped around cheddar and apple slices with baby cucumbers. Dinner has been varied but usually a piece of protein and veggies, either as a salad or roasted.

I'm thinking this is going to have to be the way I eat forever, actually. Prioritise nutrient density, protein, and small portion size. There's no going back to how I was eating before.

Can we ask mumsnet to move this thread back to the main injections board as it’s lost here and not getting as much traction @Melania90

I’ve literally just taken my first dose of 2.5g Monjaro from Voy - would love to share the journey with as many other August starters as possible

it was really daunting tbh and I put it off yesterday but honestly once I’d laid out all the bits needed and watched the voy video and another one on YouTube I injected - no pain at all and was easy as anything

here goes!

start date - 3 August 2024
start weight - 89kg/196lbs/ 14.2stone
target weight - 60kg / 133lbs/ 9.6 stone

JamieFrasersSassenach · 03/08/2024 13:27

Hi @MooFroo 👋

Welcome 🤗
I've just replied to your post on the other thread.

lolapink123 · 03/08/2024 17:11

I’m starting Monday my 2.5 mg pen has just arrived , would love to buddy up with someone ❤️

Westnorwood · 03/08/2024 17:17

Does anyone know how much the 10mg pen is with Zava? I have just started and bought the 2.5 and 5mg. It’s been a week and really impressed with not feeling hungry or craving snacks.

If anyone wants a code to get us both 15% off you get use mine REF7YZUJZ3

pateandbrie · 03/08/2024 18:12

So day three now and I feel like my appetite is coming back a little bit but it's really weird, it's like my tummy feels hungry but when I start thinking about what I could eat I don't want any of it. So all I've eaten today is a few bits of popcorn (took kids to the cinema!) and a very small taste of an ice cream. I went to the gyn this morning as well and I'm usually starving after that but just wasn't interested.

I'm just about to make myself some salmon and vegetables for dinner because I know I need to eat something proper!

pateandbrie · 03/08/2024 18:12

gym!

lolapink123 · 03/08/2024 20:20

@pateandbrie well done on the 3 days I can imagine it will take some getting use to . I start tomorrow I’m so so anxious my start weight is 18.6 stone 😞

JamieFrasersSassenach · 05/08/2024 12:10

Hope everyone is doing ok?

Today is day 6 - I would say I have more of an appetite but not hungry at all still. I have managed some small meals over the weekend which I couldn't before, I have also drunk some alcohol on both Saturday and Sunday evening - but definitely drinking much more slowly than pre MJ and I didn't feel tipsy nearly as quickly as I normally would.

Anyway I'm not particularly keen on drinking again for a while.

I'm going to try to plan some sensible small meals for today and tomorrow as jab number 2 is on Wednesday and I'm expecting my appetite to grind to a halt again then.

Does anyone else feel really tired since starting MJ?

ElsaMars · 05/08/2024 13:29

I feel really exhausted but I'm also getting over an bad back, so could be that.
I'm on week 2 and eating like a normal person, ie. Small porions of what I can manage, no snacks, as not bothered. I had to force a bit of ice cream down the other day that someone bought me and just looking at a handed slice of birthday cake on Sat made me feel sick. I don't weigh myself but things are looser or just fitting better.

JamieFrasersSassenach · 05/08/2024 14:02

@ElsaMars - that's how I feel minus the bad back - just exhausted, I wonder if it's because I'm taking far less calories than usual.

I hope your back is better soon Flowers
