Hi everyone, I’ve just been approved for Mounjaro 2.5mg from Voy and planning to start 1st of August! Looking for others who are also starting!

starting weight 109kg
target weight 70kg

I got mine 50% off thanks to a code shared by a Mumsnetter so here’s mine as well ❤️ it gives you 50% off your first month and I’ll save on my next month too!

@GoodLuckBabe Hi. So, I haven’t told my husband but he just assumed it would be some of the supplements I take so you could maybe try that tactic?
Voy will give you the option of telling your doctor and it doesn’t affect your insurance at all.
And I’d be jolly grateful if you’d chuck my code into your hat if you wouldn’t mind please? (Or anyone else who’d like a code)
My code is https://joinvoy.com/r/U-W4yRNfbBym

Good luck! 😀

I've just ordered my first pen, I'm looking forward to finally loosing some weight!
I've used Zava and if anyone wants to order through them with a discount code mine is REFVSMJJKA

I look forward to weighing in after my first week 🤞🏻

Johaanah · 21/07/2024 18:35

GoodLuckBabe · 20/07/2024 14:41

Thanks @Johaanah , yes hopefully it would be fine. I just worry I’d have a mental block actually doing it. I am ok with blood tests etc so it is def the element of having to do it myself.
how long does it take to get approved, and are you going with Voy?

I just got approved today and the parcel will be delivered on Tuesday- I used Zava and submitted the photos and stuff on Friday, so pretty quick turn around.

If you are ok with blood tests then you’ll be fine with a pen, it’s honestly not painful at all.

Sorry that was two questions! I will use a code if I go ahead - may have to pick one out of a hat!

Would super duper appreciate my code if you could? 😍 might become unaffordable for me otherwise 😫

Xiaoxiong · 22/07/2024 16:47

I've just been approved by Voy - used one of the codes on this thread, thank you! (But can't remember which one sorry!) Hoping the package arrives tomorrow or Wednesday.

I found an old comment of mine on a thread from months ago, and just thought - if I'd started then I might have lost weight by now, how stupid am I to have procrastinated yet again and started yet another diet which yet again didn't work because I can't stop thinking about food and enjoying my own cooking just a bit too much.

I'm a bit scared of the horror stories in the news and what people say about side effects but there are negative side effects of my weight which are increasing too - my knees hurt, huffing and puffing on stairs even though I am relatively fit, etc. I don't have masses to lose but I was shocked to find out I had high cholesterol recently, and also my snoring is getting worse and worse and turning into a bit of sleep apnoea (says poor DH who is suffering through it). So before I burdened the NHS for statins and a CPAP machine I thought Mounjaro was worth a shot.

It may have been mine as someone used it last night, if it was thank you so much! Very appreciated and if it was someone else, thank you too. Things are a little tight so that was an amazing welcome this morning.

I was the same. Been falling off and on the wagon for 15 months since I had my last baby. Had enough of feeling rubbish so figured it was worth the money for my health and happiness. Lost 5lb in 5 days last week, did my 2nd jab myself yesterday, barely felt it.
I know everyone is different but I’ve barely felt any side effects. The main ones are dry mouth , slight nausea and the odd headache. All very manageable, just make sure you drink lots. Also do the injection at night and you will sleep through the initial medication hit hopefully. That’s what I did the first time but got impatient yesterday and did it at 3pm. Felt a bit shaky and light headed so will stick to a late injection time.
it’s so lovely not to be constantly wanting or picking at food. I had a protein shake for lunch as just didn’t fancy anything and my tea was half the size of my usual portion and I’m full. Download a food tracking app if you can to make sure you’re getting enough food/protein.
My net diary or nutra check are both good. The first one is free. Good luck 😄

@Whatintheholywoah yes I think it was me, it was a late night impluse decision as I was lying awake waiting for DH to fall asleep first. I've been worried about falling asleep first and then snoring and keeping him awake. I just thought...this is completely ridiculous, I need to change something as otherwise nothing will ever change.

Such a good decision to take action when your DC is 15 months...DS1 is almost 13 YEARS old and I have been yoyo dieting for that long.

Xiaoxiong · 23/07/2024 11:02

Grr the tracking update from Royal Mail claims they tried to deliver my parcel 30 mins ago and no one was in?! I'm sitting here at the dining table in sight of the front door...no red card left, no delivery attempted, and no photo on the tracking page to "prove" they attempted delivery.

I know these pens have to be kept cold...should I try and get it from the sorting office today? I don't even have a red card as they didn't leave one.

Moier · 23/07/2024 11:11

Yesterday l went to see my psychotherapist... then went for an hours swim.
Went to Sainsbury's and bought protein food .. chicken breasts / fish etc.
I took my first dose last night.
I couldn't wake up this morning.
Fell asleep about midnight was 9.30 when l woke . I usually wake up with hunger pangs ready for my breakfast.. but I've only had my cuppa.
I'm going to have brunch of scrambled eggs on a slice of whole meal.. see if it's kicked in yet and if l feel full before finishing.
I'm hoping I'm like my daughter..she's doing brilliant.
I've also got ginger capsules and ginger tea ( in case for sickness)
Peppermint oil capsules too for the sulphur burps.
Collegan for the skin.

Xiaoxiong · 23/07/2024 16:13

@Moier hope to be joining you soon with my first dose. I was hoping that would be tonight but fucking Royal Mail have put paid to that. Will sit outside morning to make sure they actually deliver the parcel tomorrow!!

I did, however, get a little set of bluetooth scales delivered from Amazon (who managed to find my house, amazing!!) and the damage is worse than I thought - even the starting weight that I put in the Voy approval is too low. No wonder my snoring has got so much worse recently.

Whatintheholywoah · 23/07/2024 18:12

@Xiaoxiong
thank you so much, appreciate you using it.

My next son is 13 and I was the same. Unfortunately I’m an emotional eater so yo yo a lot. Finally got my bmi to 27 when I fell pregnant then chunked it all back on and a bit more! I went up another half a stone after having him then just keep losing and putting it back on, so frustrating! Just thought this is the right thing and worth the money. I’ll probably save that amount in food and wine 🤣

oh no re Royal Mail! What a nightmare. You should be okay as it can last 30 days out of the fridge so try not to worry about that as long as you are starting straight away. You can ring voy if you need to jiggle your future deliveries they are very helpful.

2.5 is a loading dose but I already feel so many benefits. I just don’t feel hungry all the time or fancy rubbish. It’s bonkers.

Xiaoxiong · 24/07/2024 11:45

Ok - parcel arrived, injection done. Even after reading lots of threads on here AND reading the instructions twice AND watching a video, I still managed to a) not leave it in for the full 5 second count at the end of the jab (I realised the second I pulled it out and stuck it straight back in, I don't know if that did anything!) and b) managed to jab my fingertip on the other end of the needle pushing it into the sharps bin, while telling myself "don't jab your finger, you know the people on mumsnet said there are two ends to the needle..."

I didn't even feel it going into the flab on my stomach - I felt the jab on my finger though!

I'm going to be travelling for dose 3 & 4 so I've ordered one of those insulin travel bags to keep it cool.

Whatintheholywoah · 24/07/2024 15:20

@Xiaoxiong
I did similar, it’s only to ensure it delivers the full dose. You probably would have seen fluid running down your stomach if it hadn’t. I always put the lid back on the needle before I unscrew it and push the end with the lid into the box.
Should be fine to travel with as long as it’s kept under 30c it’s fine.
Im actually feeling more from the 2nd dose which is even better so there must be a bit of build up. Be careful with pasta. Had half my usual portion last night and suffered 🤣🤣

Can I join?

I took my first shot on Tuesday morning, didn't notice anything different and the yesterday it kicked in, really didn't feel
Like eating and didn't manage much 862 Calories total for the day.

I have had a bad headache and I've woken up this morning and it's still here, not sure if it's a side effect of Mounjaro or sugar withdrawal.

I'm hoping to lose around 15kg.

Xiaoxiong · 25/07/2024 09:01

@Johaanah I've seen lots of advice to drink tonnes of water (like, 1.5L plus) while on mounjaro so try drinking a load of water?

GoodLuckBabe · 25/07/2024 10:02

Hi, couple more questions for those of you on Voy, do you have to sign for the delivery or will they leave it?
As its a subscription, does that mean you don’t get the cost saving element of the ‘extra dose’ I’ve read about?
Does the Voy app have a section for calorie monitoring or do you use a separate app if you want to track protein etc?
thanks in advance x

Xiaoxiong · 25/07/2024 10:13

In my vast experience of the last 24 hours, the postie did need to hand the parcel to someone (was too big to go through the letterbox) but no signature from me needed. And there was nothing on the box to say what was inside besides a "refrigerated" sticker.

I read about the "bonus dose" on the other threads but it sounded too fiddly to me to extract it and measure it out so I wasn't too bothered about "losing" it. The pens last a month though so you could just put your next pen in the fridge when it arrives and use the bonus dose that week, and start the new pen a week later. The Voy app lets you manage a delivery eg if you're away or on holiday so I guess in theory you could shift forward a delivery when you've done a few bonus doses if you are that organised!!

And I don't see any calorie counting stuff on the Voy app - I've gone back to my old My Fitness Pal app that I've had for years.

Last night started to feel a bit chilly/skin crawly, like before you get a fever. It passed quickly so I don't know if it was a side effect or not! But this morning I've had a boiled egg and a single slice of toast and I feel weirdly stuffed, like I've eaten a whole loaf of bread. I would never, ever feel full before on such a small amount of food. I have to think it's a placebo effect as I'm less than 24 hours in!

Cantfindanavailablename · 25/07/2024 10:18

Hi,
I'm hoping to start this weekend. I went down a slightly different route. I had a private gp appointment yesterday after some health issues which he helped me to sort. I asked him about it and he's prescribed it for me. It's £120 per prescription which I'm happy with plus the odd check up which costs £100 a time.

I'm nervous and excited to get started

GoodLuckBabe · 25/07/2024 10:24

@Xiaoxiong thanks so much for that info. And great you are already noticing a change, I guess it might be placebo but lots of people do seem to report an immediate effect. I think I will sign up, I am so nervous but like you I just need to jump in. I am trying to think through the changes I will need to make in order to do it properly - meals, shopping etc. (could also be seen as procrastination). I am a bit worried about whether I will see a negative change in my mood as I am such a comfort eater.

That’s interesting. So is the £120 the total cost or do you pay for the medication as well as the prescription?

Xiaoxiong · 25/07/2024 10:42

@GoodLuckBabe just do it. I'm regretting not starting months ago when I first posted on a MN thread dithering about it. If I'd started then I'd be having a very different and less self-conscious summer!!

I don't think you need anything special unless you want to take this opportunity to overhaul your diet. That needs to be a permanent change I think rather than a "diet for a while" kind of thing.

I did read in a Sunday times profile of a journalist who went on it that he got depressed - he thought it was a side effect of the medication but then realised it was because for years he had been using food to deal with feelings. Once he went on (I think it was Ozempic but same thing) then he didn't have the food to hide the feelings down anymore and had to deal with actually feeling the feelings and what was behind them and finding healthier coping mechanisms for comfort. I think exercise is probably best to get the feelings out but that is a lot easier when you're smaller and fitter - maybe start journaling when you feel the need for comfort eating? "Think in ink" to identify when you might have used food to comfort?

WorriedRelative · 25/07/2024 11:47

Mine has been approved and dispatched now. A bit delayed because I missed an email due to spam filters.

I am thinking of starting on a Sunday night so I can enjoy the weekend free of side effects first.
