What is your opinion? If your child attends a private school and you noticed their teacher had tattoos up arms etc….

Would It bother you? Non offensive tattoos.

No it wouldn't bother me at all; why would it?

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 03/03/2026 18:32

Why does it make a difference that they’re a private school teacher?

NormasArse · 03/03/2026 18:32

Does it affect their ability to engage and teach a class?

FakeTwix · 03/03/2026 18:32

It does bother me. I'm aware it's now an old fashioned view but I preferred it when teachers/doctors/nurses/police etc were expected to keep tattoos covered at work.

Am sure it doesn't impact their skill level but it does look scruffy 9/10 times. (I am being generous as I am not sure it ever looks good tbh).

Nothing to do with whether it is a private school though.

ShanghaiDiva · 03/03/2026 18:32

no, it wouldn’t bother me.

FlatErica · 03/03/2026 18:34

Not in the slightest.

LamonicBibber1 · 03/03/2026 18:34

I would think oh, that person is into tattoos. And then carry on with my day.

It's perhaps helping to add one of the little extras that private school curriculums don't automatically teach, ie. how not to be a snobby fucker, which can be invaluable in a long life well spent surrounded by people of all life's varied differences.

slaintebab · 03/03/2026 18:34

Can’t imagine why anyone would be bothered

dylexicdementor11 · 03/03/2026 18:34

No, it would not bother me at all.

EspanaPorfavor · 03/03/2026 18:35

Of course not!!

user593 · 03/03/2026 18:35

No, it wouldn’t bother me at all. I have a friend who’s a teacher in a private school who has sleeve tattoos.

No, because I’m not an idiot.

TwilightSkies · 03/03/2026 18:38

No. It doesn’t affect ANYTHING. And I don’t think they look ‘scruffy’ 🙄

Dirty, crumpled clothes look scruffy. Unbrushed hair is scruffy.

No. The only thing that would cross my mind, regardless of that individuals appearance or dress, is whether they are a good teacher or not.

(I hope it’s irony…?)

Wow

StarlightRobot · 03/03/2026 18:41

Yes, it would bother me. Teachers are role models and I wouldn’t want my child permanently marking their body, so I wouldn’t want to see it on their teacher either.

PhotosOfTheDog · 03/03/2026 18:42

No. YABVU.

simpledeer · 03/03/2026 18:43

Not remotely

exdxb · 03/03/2026 18:43

I personally do not like tattoos, but this wouldn’t bother me in itself if they were a good teacher who did their best for my kids.

i do think we should only be seeing ones that still show when professionally dressed in line with the rest of their colleagues. It does also depend on the tattoo - if it was one that would also be appropriate to wear if printed onto clothing (eg abstract floral/geometric pattern ) then fine, if it were politically or culturally symbolic in a way that might be controversial or divisive or in any way something that a professional would not be allowed to wear printed on their clothing then I don’t think they should be exposing it on their skin either. It’s not any different from a dress code I guess is my point.

Is this a serious reply?

Monsterslam · 03/03/2026 18:44

I think they should be burned at the stake. Maybe combine it with the annual 'flogging the peasant' as part of the outreach programme.
