Help! I hid my daughter's switch and now I'm in trouble!

So the story goes like this:
My pre-teen daughter was being naughty, didn't do as she was told (nicely), chatted back in a super-cheeky way, rolled her eyes, lied and then didn't do as she was told again. So I got very cross and took her Switch... And hid it somewhere in the house, told her she will get it back when her behaviour improves.
Fast forward a few weeks... I cannot find the bloody thing... I took apart the whole house... left no thing unturned. It's just gone. It's so strange. I usually remember where I put things. This time, it's like I have a black hole, it's like someone erased the memory of me hiding it. It's like I have an amnesia to this specific moment in time when I was hiding it. I know I hid it but I don't know where.
Since it was also my husband's Switch I am now having to buy him a new one... If I can't find it (deadline set to a week).

Any ideas of how to retrieve this memory please? Any strategies for finding lost subjects? I don't want to buy a new one, it's expensive!

I'm not saying the OP's DH is wrong to want it back but it MUST be in the house. I'd help look for it before asking for a replacement. Just found it a strange thing to say :o

Tempted to think the DD has found it and doesn’t want to admit she has it and been using it secretly?

You could just choose to see only the OP's posts. It would stop you accusing the DD of something she obviously hasn't done.

@SirensofTitan I am perfectly aware the thing was found (and I posted my congrats to the OP when it was found, as you'd see if you yourself had RTFT). Just agreeing with BB that the OP's husband's reaction was off. A grown man demanding his wife buy him a new toy, when she was disciplining their child.

Congrats! My husband also hid my DS's switch ... its been gone for months. We've no idea where else to look.

@GlobalNomad sorry to hear about yours going missing too...just a thought but when I've confiscated DS' items, I tend to stuff them down the inside of the sofa (next to the seat cushion and the arm) and they have a habit of working their way further down. On clearing out, we found a watch and our safe keys down INSIDE the sofa where I'd put them for safekeeping and forgotten about them! Good luck.

@Phepho at the risk of reviving a zombie thread and having people tell the OP where to find the Switch she found 7 months ago... I found my car key! You said it would be near green paper. I looked high and low and gave in and paid for a replacement a month ago.

Turns out our puppy had stolen it and my son's just found it underneath the trampoline, which has green fabric all round the outside. Just thought I'd let you know you were right!
