Help! I hid my daughter's switch and now I'm in trouble!

So the story goes like this:
My pre-teen daughter was being naughty, didn't do as she was told (nicely), chatted back in a super-cheeky way, rolled her eyes, lied and then didn't do as she was told again. So I got very cross and took her Switch... And hid it somewhere in the house, told her she will get it back when her behaviour improves.
Fast forward a few weeks... I cannot find the bloody thing... I took apart the whole house... left no thing unturned. It's just gone. It's so strange. I usually remember where I put things. This time, it's like I have a black hole, it's like someone erased the memory of me hiding it. It's like I have an amnesia to this specific moment in time when I was hiding it. I know I hid it but I don't know where.
Since it was also my husband's Switch I am now having to buy him a new one... If I can't find it (deadline set to a week).

Any ideas of how to retrieve this memory please? Any strategies for finding lost subjects? I don't want to buy a new one, it's expensive! Sad

To be honest. Seems like they are pranking you with deadlines and “you will have to pay it back”.
They must have found it and in revenge scaring you for life thinking that you are going mad- best known as gaslighting - lol
If it was me I would say, we’ll we’ll, I look where I left, is not there anymore, I’m sorry… one day it will appear…. What a shame.

And see how it goes from there haha

ginforever · 28/10/2021 18:55

Ohh has it been found ? Lol will ready it all now x

notactuallylolling · 28/10/2021 18:58

Yep ive done this! Have you checked your kitchen cupboards, on top of the fridge? Thinking you might have grabbed it and lobbed it up high somewhere rather than hidden it in an elaborately concealed hidey-hole

Cavementality · 28/10/2021 18:59

Go back to the room where you took it off her. Close your eyes and remember the anger you felt. Imagine taking it off her and then go and hide the device!

notactuallylolling · 28/10/2021 18:59

Oh just seen it’s found…now I have to find out where…..starts scrolling….

Doihavetogotoworkdotcom1 · 28/10/2021 19:00

I’ve this with my Dd iPad. It’s been missing for months. I’m away on holiday and it’s just clicked where it may be! I think you are so caught up with the behaviour at the time that you just forget!

AwkwardAnnie · 28/10/2021 19:01

@Phepho wow! Have you any idea where my wedding ring is? I lost it somewhere in the house several years ago as I had to keep taking it off as I was allergic to the metal!
I'm so impressed!

Isaidnomorecrisps · 28/10/2021 19:05

@phepho
How on earth did you do that!!

Pydora · 28/10/2021 19:10

@Phepho

In a box or a cube with a cut out hole. I have a knack for "seeing" lost items
Can you please help with my spare car keys also. I lost them shortly after I bought the car and haven't been able to find them since. I remember putting them 'somewhere safe', as you do.....but I know they never left the house !
Newbabynewhouse · 28/10/2021 19:15

I have took apart my whole house and just don't know where it is!!! I don't think I've taken it anywhere... I'm 30 btw and play animal crossing on it when I get the chance.. gutted!!!!

Weareallvirgins · 28/10/2021 19:16

Newbabynewhouse · 28/10/2021 19:17

thenovice · 28/10/2021 19:24

Are you SURE she didn't find it a while ago?????

JonSnowIsALoser · 28/10/2021 19:32

Glad you found it! For a moment I suspected your husband of hiding it so he could get a new one and not have to share with the daughter...

Ohh my goodness you were right! I don’t suppose you’d be able to see my lovely lost engagement ring would you please? I’d be eternally grateful! I lost it almost two years ago when I took it off to wash up and forgot to put it back on, never to been seen again. Sad

Under a sofa cushion
In between your clothes
In a kitchen cupboard with tinned foods
In your sock drawer
Glove compartment of the car

Morgysmum · 28/10/2021 19:57

I would look in your daughters room. With regards your husband, tell him to help you look for it, 2 eyes are better than one. That way he is been helpful rather than threatening you.

ittakes2 · 28/10/2021 20:00

are you sure she has not found it and its hidden in her room?

Imissmoominmama · 28/10/2021 20:07

@Phepho - I don’t suppose you know where my engagement ring went, do you? It’s a honey citrine and diamond one. Lost it about 9 years ago…

Lolabray · 28/10/2021 20:07

Ask st Michael the patron st of lost things to help you find it

Insanelysilver · 28/10/2021 20:12

Where were you when she made you cross and you decided to hide it?
I usually lobbed things on top of kitchen cupboards or bedroom cupboards etc

Did you leave it in M&S op?

It's St Anthony* and he works 9/10 times for me.

190190tnt · 28/10/2021 20:17

Someone I used to work with would say 'enjoy forgetting' - don't think about it and hopefully the memory should return (fingers crossed...)

Friggingell · 28/10/2021 20:39
