Thread 12!

I can't seem to carry over the clicky links in the OP of the last thread. Can anyone else?

@Sprayitall
This might help you

childlawadvice.org.uk/information-pages/school-attendance-and-absence/

Plus look up your LAs own Code of Conduct for fixed penalty notices which is usually hidden somewhere on your councils website.

FuckThisWind · 10/03/2020 20:17

I have nothing else to add tonight, except to say thank you all for your continued support, advice, rational conversation etc.
Who knows where we will be in a week. Or in two weeks. We have planned and prepared. We have people on here who have forewarned us of what's to come. I'm looking at you, @VenetoResident
Best of luck to us all. Hope you all stay safe. We are all in this together. Some of us have more challenging scenarios. But at least we don't dismiss each other. Some of the other threads are dreadful. Compassion and respect is everything.
Much Love. Catch up tomorrow.

Plantherd · 10/03/2020 20:17

I've bought some of the granose sausage mix. Never tried it before and when I picked it up maybe 4 or 5 weeks ago now?! I kept saying to myself it would be great for camping.. Everything will be OK here, no one else is prepping (apart from you lovely lot online!)

Now everyone else is slowly waking up, the camping use excuse seems further away!

FuckThisWind · 10/03/2020 20:19

Promised to post a pic of our Pup. Just to share the love and stay sane.

Ok fuck this, I’m taking my daughter out if school by the end of this week

Peak of the epidemic in 2 weeks.

It takes 5 days to present with symptoms

The first day or 2 no one will bother reporting it, symptoms will force them to report to 111

So, I’m thinking peak passing the infection on time will be next week

Have I worked that out right?

Gammeldragz · 10/03/2020 20:19

Evening all, only just caught up on the thread from yesterday.
Popped into Aldi to get DS stuff for his DofE trip Saturday, very well stocked no shortages of anything. Busy, but it usually is there I think.

Given that the course was 14 nurses in a room, there was very little concern/chat about coronavirus (including one lady who kept blowing her nose on a many times used tissue and not washing her hands or binning it!) apart from the lady I sat next to who has been keeping an eye on it. Apparently their surgery only put the signs (don't come in, call 111 etc) up yesterday and aren't doing any screening over the phone! She printed out the latest guidelines and left them around the place...
Such inconsistency, which is par for the course in general practice, but horrifying nonetheless.

NatoPMT · 10/03/2020 20:21

I have, I’m sure.

Next week at the latest will be time to pull down the shutters

This is call to action. Unless someone knows better, I think we are isolation a go go

I feel sick

Gammeldragz · 10/03/2020 20:21

Missed a sentence there, for context I was on a training course today (and tomorrow). We also had a buffet lunch, after seeing the hygiene levels of my fellow nurses I shall take a packed lunch tomorrow!

Nato my absolute cut off point (no matter what I am told by so called experts was always going to be next Friday, 20th March) my DD will simply not be in school past that date. And any person who tells me otherwise including the Local Education Authority can fuck right off. Ideally I may keep her off from now. I have a case less than a mile away, and parents who have just come back from skiing in North Italy

Coughsyrupsucks · 10/03/2020 20:28

I thought DD finished school on the 20th, turns out it’s the 27th. Gah!

I think she’ll have to have a horrible illness next week and hope that school has finally closed the week after?

School are still going ahead with a trip to London tomorrow and a trip to the Netherlands in the holidays. Cannot believe they are being so dumb.

HasaDigaEebowai · 10/03/2020 20:29

Sprayitall · 10/03/2020 20:29

@Snugglepumpkin Thank you.

Others - Found out few schools have received a special code to use at this situation which says

Scott Holder, executive head teacher at Philip Morant School, said: “Over the last few days, we have received more information from the local authority on which absence codes to use for those young people who are self-isolating.

“This guidance is not about authorised or unauthorised absence, it is about the use of a code for special circumstances when a child cannot access school.

JustMeAndMyTins · 10/03/2020 20:34

Thanks @MissusMaker but that’s not what I meant. I totally understand the state of play now and over the coming weeks. Question is - when it peaks do we see steady numbers each day or does it start to decline? There’s talk of it peaking in 2 weeks or at Easter...What happens to the numbers at that point?

WorriedAcademic · 10/03/2020 20:37

I was at uni today. The student refectory was about 25% capacity/full compared to normal. I think people are avoiding crowded spaces. We’ve had 1 case in the town and rumour is it was a student.

HasaDigaEebowai · 10/03/2020 20:39

I remember reading years ago, an article about how Eton primes pupils for political life by posing debating topics that include how many people can die for a political end and how it encourages the thinking of killing some to meet that end.

Oh come off it. We are all in this together wherever we send our DC to school and this is nonsense.

NatoPMT · 10/03/2020 20:39

@FuckThisWind - that’s at peak infection time. I honestly think there must be a LOT more cases and they know it. Otherwise they wouldn’t be saying peak in 2 weeks, unless they want to make it seem closer and make us think it won’t go on for months and months

Peak cases in 2 weeks = peak infections next week

Ps gorgeous pup ❤️❤️

bellinisurge · 10/03/2020 20:42

WHO info on making your own hand sanitizer https://www.who.int/gpsc/5may/GuidetooLocalProduction.pdf

MissusMaker · 10/03/2020 20:44

@JustMeAndMyTins ah I see. Ok I'm guessing now but I think when it peaks we will see the steady numbers for a while (a week?). I believe this is what happened in China/Hubei because (so I heard) they reached the maximum that they were able to test for each day - so I guess the actual numbers were still rising?

NatoPMT · 10/03/2020 20:46

I’m sure you’re right @HasaDigaEebowai

This isn’t the article but covers a similar topic

wheresmymojo · 10/03/2020 20:48

I'm saying the same as PP - two weeks time isn't the 'peak' it is the beginning of exponential growth. The beginning of it sweeping through (so roughly where Italy is now).

UK Govt have said the 'peak' period is expected to last 9-12 weeks, so in two weeks time is the beginning of that 9-12 week period.

I got round to reading that Reddit link and I feel sick now. I’m still not particularly worried about actually being ill, although I’m resigned to the fact that we’ll get it at some point, it’s just the scale of the horror that leaves me feeling like I could cry. I know that sounds dramatic but I don’t know how else to explain it.

NatoPMT · 10/03/2020 20:50

Ah I see! @wheresmymojo

Doofus 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Thank you!

MoonlightMistletoe · 10/03/2020 20:53

@AlohaMolly I've just read the reddit post too and feel the same, I feel mentally exhausted tbh.

NatoPMT · 10/03/2020 20:54

I agree with fuckthiswind then
