Thread 12!

I can't seem to carry over the clicky links in the OP of the last thread. Can anyone else?

Why are you being touchy?

How is my buying loo roll in 2016 impacting people who want to buy it now

This^^

And as for the “have you still got it” question......ever heard of stock rotation? I have a lot of tinned stuff, long life stuff, household stuff at home. Always had done. Think it comes from a very rural childhood where we’d be cut off by snow for weeks at a time. For me it’s normal, even though not so rural now.

At any point, not just corona related I have enough stuff to manage for over a month.

I think we need this to get moved back onto preppers @MNHQ

I think you're all loving this.

Were you waiting for that fateful day when your 4 year old bog roll would come in handy?!

I've been following/lurking since the beginning of thread 11.
Just thought I'd say 'hello' and thanks for the new thread.

I'm fairly new to prepping. I did manage to prep for 31/10 ( Brexit) but our stores are depleted now. I'm going to start again this week.

Hi @loodally!
Everyone is lovely and very helpful here.
I've only been prepping since January and I've learned a lot.
I will definitely carry on after all this has blown over. It's been lovely not to have to join the scraps over toilet roll and hand gel 😂

@MissusMaker Same with us. We just discussed if we are going to send her to school tomorrow. Dh and me are not going out anywhere this week with an occasional trip to local cash n carry. Dd is the only one going to school but being in Milton Keynes the stress is a bit high after the recent news

@wheresmymojo

Did you really mean to post in this section?!

Can we go back to prepping please.

This section really does attract the hard of thinking. People that don’t understand prepping is completely panic buying. 🙄.

I’m going to stick to the suggestion on the last thread ...GF’s & idiots are ignored. Starve them of the attention they seek

New preppers & genuine questions welcomed. 😊

I've never prepped before but found these threads so useful. So many good ideas that I wouldn't have thought if. And now that the virus is in my city, I do feel prepared which is a relief.

Going to buy some nice chocolate tomorrow. Can't live on beans alone!Grin

Hi @ofwarren

Ha I'm cursing myself for letting us use up my Brexit store 😩
We're okay for hand gel and loo roll - thankfully!
I'm starting to feel quite edgy about everything now. The latest figures are concerning and I don't think that they're anywhere near accurate either.

I agree. MNHQ moves these threads to a separate Coronovirus topic.
It should go back.
Obviously people can look up and post where they want.

@loodally yeah is nerve-wracking isn't it. It's the uncertainty and seeing how horrendous it is in Italy right now.
At least you don't need to buy any of the stuff that the shops are short of, so that a bonus 😉

That’ll teach me to change my tact part way through!! I took out a few choice words and edited it badly! 🙄🙄🙄

Prepping is completely different to panic buying!

Mybrainhurts has just realised, on the end of thread 11, that the numbers posted by Veneto mean the Italian number of infected people needing hospital beds is... 55.69%

How can you be sure that you would know if a child or their parent/staff is tested at your child's school? If a parent/staff chooses not to tell the school, I mean.is it the law that they have to tell? Genuine question

Aah have missed the threads. Been skiing for a week in France. Thankfully got back home ok and actually had some fun whilst not reading the news!
Was v glad of my long life milk after a delay flying back last night and last minute dinner plans changed and I was able to knock up a blinding Thai curry from my frozen prawns, peas, coconut milk and Thai curry paste in the stash..

Long time lurker here who has found these threads invaluable, thank you all! I've always kept a stock of things, came from my mum who grew up in poverty and as an adult is always prepped and rotates so that she wouldn't be without. I have been adding to my cupboards etc since early Feb. Relieved that I can just keep up with a normal weekly shop now (online!) and have no need to venture to the shops to scrap over toilet roll.

Not sure why people have trouble distinguishing between people who have prepped calmly whilst items were plentiful and easily restocked and people who are panic buying now Confused

Our cambridge masks came so i am planning to hand on the disposable masks that we have to family and friends (dd's bf is still waiting on his cambridge mask to be sent out) . I worry about my df, he had open heart surgary a little while ago and although he is increadably healthy and fit, he is in his 70s. I have made my little niece one with filter inserts as the adult ones will not fit her.

We are also going to keep an eye on an elderly neighbour as he lives alone and is very stoic. He had flu proper in the new year and was bed bound for 4 days without telling anyone Shock.

The Italian numbers are terrifying.

I take it that they aren’t testing those with mild symptoms, which is what makes the % needing time be hospitalised (and over 10% in ICU) so high?

Checking in. Italy is scary at the mo, how long do you think they will be in mass lockdown for?
