That's the one! The exact knitted boob my MW had! Off to John Lewis now for the Areola Brown and then going to spend an evening knitting contentedly by the fireside. I've got until 6th Sept to start my antenatal classes, so may be able to knit enough for everyone in my group as suggested by the leaflet. Grin

babybunting2010 · 20/08/2010 13:33

Patsy don't be nervous, they are fantastic and everyone is in the same boat all of our guys are really lovely and can imagine being friends with everyone for a long time! been having a good old giggle at your boob story, told my NCT class last night and they had a hell of a chuckle! Funny as!

Jenko am getting to the stage of wanting to cause the man that' making the noise a lot of pain! I know it's not his fault but seriously is it necessary!

Grrr....

xxxx

Jenko77 · 20/08/2010 13:50

BB If you want to go and cause pain, then you go for it - they can't lock you up if you blame it on your hormones - surely!?! Grin

Patsy We just did the NHS class, so was a big group (I think about 13 couples) and although they were nice enough, we didn't really get the chance to chat, so no firm friendships made. Lots of useful info though, so very glad we went.

NCT is supposed to be excellent for making friends! I've heard nothing but good things about NCT groups, so don't worry (especially if you're giving the gift of knitted boobs! Grin). We have quite a few friends with babies though, so we really just went for the info rather than the networking. If I wasn't so tight skint on a budget, I would have gone with NCT too, but wasn't really an option for us.

babybunting2010 · 20/08/2010 14:16

Thankfully all Council workers seem to finish early on Fridays so am pleased to report he's buggered off!

Anyone's babies feel like they are trying to escape from the side? It's really starting to hurt! Shock

Counting down the hours till I go home now! Only 3.25 left! Oh God! Need more knitted boob stories to keep me going!
xx

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 20/08/2010 16:51

I feel like by not bf'ing i'm missing out on seeing a knitted boob :p

Had a growth scan today... 4.5lb already and 6 weeks to go :S does that mean a GIANT baby :p

xx

babybunting2010 · 20/08/2010 17:15

Nope Anything, think that's not too bad! I had my 32 week Scan Monday and was told an figure which made my eyes water, they couldn't even say what percentile as it stops after 100%. My DD supposedly weighs a whopping 5lb 6oz!!!!! OUCH! Apparently they are notoriously wrong, so wouldn't worry too much!

We've got another one at 36 weeks and then apparently they will talk C-Sections and inductions but my consultant just sort of said we'll see, when I asked what the next stage was! What a pain!

Did you see little one moving around? DD Yawned at us and looked really shocked when the sonographer pushed down harder (Though that might have been my imagination!)

x

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 20/08/2010 17:22

Yeah! She was kicking around like crazy... the sonographer showed us really close up on her face and did us some good pictures, saying that we probably won't get another chance for pictures :)

It was a great day! :)

I have another one at 36 weeks too... if the baby is big do they prefer to do an induction or something then? I tried to ask the sonographer about it today but she just told me to talk to my midwife :p

xx

KFW · 20/08/2010 17:31

hiya. Ridiculous day wasnt so ridiculous after all. It has been rescheduled to be a monday from hell. oh well!

Re NCT, my DH and I have booked in for a weekend course on 18/19 september. There was no way he'd be able to get out of work regularly for an evening one so this seemed the best bet. However, I reckon the disadvantage to doing it like this is that we won't have much time for chatting/meeting people properly. I think it will all be a bit intensive! What do you think?

KFW · 20/08/2010 17:32

anything - sorry we x-posted. sounds like an exciting day for you Smile

YummyMummy1208 · 20/08/2010 20:17

Do most people have scans after the 20 week one then? In my unit we have our 12wk and 20wk one and thats it...i would love to have a chance to have another scan to find out how heavy she is! :(

Jacksmybaby · 20/08/2010 20:37

Yummy re the anxious DCs thing, yes DS is not only having these nightmares but is also saying lots of things like "I'm worried I'm going to die"/ "I don't want anyone to kill my mummy and daddy" (he is v curious about death atm) and "What would happen if somebody takes me away?", which is all a bit Confused to deal with!

BB re the stabbing pains in the groin area, I think this might be SPD, I have had something that sounds similar for a while now although thankfully not too bad, just a bit uncomfortable and annoying (and rather, erm, intimate Confused)!.

Re the extra scans, I have another one at 34 weeks too, they only do them if there are concerns re growth (I have the extra ones due to thyroid problems which can cause growth problems for baby, although all is fine on that front so far).

Hevster · 20/08/2010 20:59

Jacks what are you doing about DS visiting you in hospital post c-sect, I think we are packing DD off on "holiday" to Gran for the time I am in hospital and she won't be visiting me as I think it might upset her to meet her sister and then leave mummy behind. However I am not convinced it's the right decision - all a bit difficult really but I really don't want to set the new family life off on the wrong foot Confused - opinions from anyone else welcome too....

Yummy am sure DS is being pretty normal I guess all you can do is reassure him and spend as much time as poss with him (not easy at this stage of pregnancy)!

DillyDora · 21/08/2010 11:44

PMSL (though not literally, that'll be after the birth!) at the knitted boob, thank you so much babyb My husband wants one as a comforter while my boobs are otherwise engaged, he says, I want one as a hat for the baby.

All the scans sound lovely, I'm sure all these babies will be just right!
xx

Jacksmybaby · 22/08/2010 22:44

Hevster re hospital visits I think DS will come to see us late afternoon on the day - he will be with my mum on the day and apart from anything else she will want to come - but also I'm worried about him feeling like he has been kicked out / abandoned by mummy and daddy in favour of the new baby so will try and make as much effort as poss to include him and not make him feel left out. For that reason also I think he won't stay at grandma's but will come home in the evening (DH will get kicked out at 8pm anyway). It's a v tricky one though as I imagine he will either be completely uninterested or completely freaked out by the experience which will be hard to deal with immediately post-op!

Hope everyone had good weekends. x

babybunting2010 · 23/08/2010 09:26

Morning all,

Yummy, we would only be given the 12 and 20 week one normally it's only because she was seen as being large at her 20 week scan that they've now got us going in every 4 weeks to see what happens.

Anything, apparently they won't tell you anything until your 36 week scan, I see a consultant every time I go because of my Thyroid etc.. and also a midwife and they both basically said I would be left alone. So when I spoke to my community midwife, she said that to avoid complaints if an induction isn't needed they never tell you until they are 100% sure the it's necessary. All they keep saying to me is we prefer for all babies to come out naturally! (Felt like asking if they were going to wait until ours could walk out on her own! :(

Jacks sounds like DS is a bit of a handful at the moment, didn't realise they became curious in death, guess i've got a lot to learn! Forgot you had underactive thyroid, what do they say that can do to the baby's growth, my Dr's never tell me anything.

Dilly, just read your post wrong as haven't got my glasses on and now have an image of your DH wearing a boob hat!!!!! LOL!!!!

Everyone else morning and please keep this post busy today as I already feel like I want to go to sleep for the rest of the day!

xx

Jenko77 · 23/08/2010 10:14

Morning everyone.

Monday and raining - yuk! Very tired and hormonal today too (which isn't helped by being surrounded by very irritating people - I swear they do it on purpose!), so rather than moaning on here about everyone and everything, I'm just going to second BabyB's request to keep this post busy today. I need distractions!

Thanks x

babybunting2010 · 23/08/2010 10:24

Morning Jenko,

Think the others must actually be doing some work! Strange! :)

I hear you with the irritating people, I swear people become more annoying the more preggers you are, then it might be that your annoyance threshold is somewhat depleted! I am soo ready for my bed today!

Met with a friend on Saturday who's just found out she's 7 weeks pregnant and felt so good that I'm going to have my baby before she does, am not a mean person, just feel like everyone I meet is due before me! :( and I am sooo impatient that I want my little girl now! Gosh I sound like a cow don't I? Oops!

Can't help looking at the Am I being unreasonable thread thing and can't believe how rude people are! Hmm I swear there are some people on there who just want to rip into the unsuspecting people that post on it!

x

Jacksmybaby · 23/08/2010 10:49

BB I don't really know re the thyroid thing other than it "can cause growth problems" - deliberately avoid googling these things as I am such a worrier anyway that i try not to give myself extra stuff to worry about!

Also feeling exhausted today!

Jenko77 · 23/08/2010 10:50

BabyB - I've been checking out the AIBU thread too. Some people are so mean that I just want to cry and then others are so stupid I just want to hit them. Think I'd better leave well alone for now... I'm in no condition to deal with it Grin

I know what you mean with everyone being due before us - I've got 7 weeks left, and I bet I go overdue and I'm getting impatient too - not helped by people laughing and saying 'make the most of it without a baby' - well, no. I have been 'making the most of it' for that past 33 years... I want a baby now!!! (well, not right now as I don't have my notes on me, still got 5 weeks left at work and I haven't shaved my legs for a week, but you know what I mean!).

Oh dear, now I sound like an unreasonable hormonal cow too - think we need some help on here today!! Any more boob knitting patterns or something equally lighthearted?!?

DillyDora · 23/08/2010 11:12

Morning! Sorry not to be able to lighten the mood much. Just saw mw - really nice woman, team leader of my local mw team and I'm measuring fine (so HA! to everyone who tells me I'm small!) but bub is breech and my tummy muscles are tight so I feel a bit like a crap mommy who can't let her baby have enough room. Fortunately DH was there so he heard everything she said and can put me straight when I'm being paranoid. Anyhoo, I'm only 31+4 so aaaaages before we need to worry and as she says you can have a vaginal breech birth so it's all still to play for.

Sorry to all the tiredy grumpies, I'm a grumpy too so pass the cake ;0)
xx

RooBear · 23/08/2010 12:35

Hello busy people! Got my mw appt soon which I'm looking forward to, flump is kicking the life out me at the mo (31+2)!

picking up pram from a friend tonight and getting the nursery furniture on sat. Its all happening, started to pack babys bag at the weekend and I was looking at the labels, newborn says 11lb does that mean upto or have I bought too big?

Don't worry Dilly you'll be a fab mum! I'm also getting impatient jenko I'm only 31wks but want to meet him/her v. soon!

YummyMummy1208 · 23/08/2010 13:06

Morning! Im having a stressful morning so decided to check in on here and see whats been going on over the weekend!

BabyB - iv already decided people on that thread r just miserable cranky housewives who were bullied in school and have decided to take revenge on all us poor mumsnetters. :( they take every word you say to mean literally so i just have fun winding them up in there now to be honest. Grin

I had such a crap saturday. Created a huge arguement with OH over something silly and pushed him to the end of his tether. :(
But made up for it on sunday, had a lovely morning with DS, went for a nice walk and then to the soft play area which must have de-stressed me cos i went home in a happy mood! then me and the OH went for a drive to the coast together and had fish and chips Grin which gave us a bit of us time together to make up for the day before!

Did everyone have a nice weekend? 1 weekend closer to finishing work for those of us still working! Grin Altho im not sure wether to look forward to that day or not!? 3 heavily pregnant weeks home alone with my toddler! eek!

YummyMummy1208 · 23/08/2010 13:11

Morning DillyDora, glad to hear ur measuring well and dont worry about the breech thing, like you said theres lots of time for little one to turn round yet!

RooBear - Im glad to hear its not just my LO whos still kicking the heck out of me! I swear shes trying her hardest to not get crushed in there! and my belly is one permanent BH! :(
11lb for a newborn - thats quite big! maybe it is up to 11lb, that would make more sense! I havent even started thinking about packing baby's bag yet! ... come to think of it, i dont even have a bag to start packing with!

YummyMummy1208 · 23/08/2010 13:59

Ok...must have scared everyone off! :(

RooBear · 23/08/2010 14:29

no you haven't yummy! I've just returned from the MW. she said there was protein in my sample but then didn't say anything else just that they'd check next time, is that normal?
