Hi Yummy, nope not scared me off just been eating my yummy lunch! :) Was great. My LO kicks the hell out of me, I swear she's trying to get out! And yeah the AIBU people seem to spend most of their time being unreasonable!

Jacks, I'm the same, avoid googling stuff at all costs!

Roo the clothes are mainly up to weights so 11lb is a slightly larger newborn outfit but will be fine for Little one and will last a couple of months! Sounds like you will have a fabulous little nursery by the end of the weekend!

Dilly, if we hear you say you feel like a bad Mum ever again we are going to come over to you (Where ever in the world you live!) and slap you silly! LOL (Hope that didnt' sound harsh was meant to be reassuring! Hmm sorry! Have some Biscuit's though!

Here's a bit of an odd question! How often does everyone else's baby have hiccups? Thumper (Soon to be DD) seems to have them at least 3 or 4 times a day! Do you think this is ok??

xxx

babybunting2010 · 23/08/2010 14:41

Oops sorry for Cross post Roo- I just googled it and this is what I found nothing too scary

"Low amounts of protein are not uncommon, and may simply mean that your kidneys are working harder than before pregnancy. Your body may be fighting a minor infection, and your midwife may send your urine sample for analysis, to establish whether you have a urinary tract infection (UTI), and of what type. You may need to take antibiotics to clear the infection.

At the next appointment your midwife will establish whether there is still protein present, and whether the amount has increased. Increased proteinuria, as it's known, may be an indication that you are developing pre-eclampsia, a potentially serious condition of pregnancy that can affect both you and and your baby. "

Obviously your levels aren't high enough to panic about at this point so they will just keep an eye on you! But can imagine that it's making you a little nervous! Fingers crossed it'll be fine at your next check up!

Hi all thanks for the lovely vibes! Just trying to avoid the 'labour for hours and hours and days and days then have ECS' scenario...which is silly as it's not in my control.

Off to get waxed and pedicured now - wahay!

Don't worry about the protein Roo but they're right to keep an eye....

babyb my LO has hiccups most days, sometimes more than once a day!

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 23/08/2010 14:58

Yeah, mine has hiccups (or what I think are hiccups anyway!) all the time!

Does anyone worry that the gender of the baby has been determined wrongly?

I was told twice I'm having a girl, once at 18ish weeks and once at about 22 weeks... since then I've bought everything pink... absolutely everything, and decorated the nursery in pink...

then last night had a dream I had a boy and it was devestating!! Not that I would mind a boy, but I already feel like I know my little Tilly :p

Anyone else? Or a reassuring story?

My DH said lets pay for another scan to check, but I had one the other day and the sonographer said it was too late to tell now :s

xx

babybunting2010 · 23/08/2010 15:07

Hi Anything, have heard of them being wrong but only on really rare occasions and as you have had 2 people say the same thing I am pretty convinced you are alright!

I do keep panicking as well about this as like you we've bought loads of pink! But if they aren't almost 100% convinced they wouldn't have said anything at all.

Don't panic, I'm sure Tilly will be loving all her pink things soon!

YummyMummy1208 · 23/08/2010 15:51

anythingwithagiraffeonit - am i being silly, how can it be too late to tell now?? Surely it just gets easier and easier to see properly? Confused

YummyMummy1208 · 23/08/2010 15:56

babybunting2010 - i love it when she has hiccups! Only because i always feel them down in my pelvis which must mean she's the right way up - for now anyway! Grin

They usually happen once a day, although we seem to have skipped yesterdays batch Confused

babybunting2010 · 23/08/2010 16:03

Yummy, I think it's to do with their positioning and their size, our scan photos now are a littl on the crap side as they can only pick up a little bit of her on each shot!

Yeah I love it when she hiccups just wanted to see if she was normal having it 4 times a day, but have just checked on internet, out of interest and apparently it's a sign that the baby is happily practising breathing! :) YEAH!

Oh and think it's an old wives tale but was told if you get lots of heartburn and indigestion the baby will have a full head of hair, though not sure how true this is!

x

YummyMummy1208 · 23/08/2010 16:05

I know i heard that but im afraid to say its not true - i had lots of heart burn last time around so we pictured a full mop of dark hair on our baby boy - he came out with almost no hair and it was blonde! Confused

I am secretly hoping my baby girl will come out looking just like her mummy did tho - lots of dark hair, will be so nice having a mini me!Woop! Ill finally have a little girl to dress up and make pretty! Grin

Hevster · 23/08/2010 16:07

you lot have been busy again today - I obviously need to go back to work so that I can be on here too rather than pootling around the shops!!!!
roo i think the further on people get in pregnacy the more likely they are to have protein as your body starts to struggle, they only worry when it goes up so don't panic yet!

I don't go on AIBU because (and I'm not usually a sensative soul) I just don't like people being that horrible to each other - it's like they think you can be mean because it's online but people still have feelings!

babybunting2010 · 23/08/2010 16:16

Hi Hevster, it just sounds like you are not nearly as bored and in need of procrastination as me at the moment.

How you feeling today? Managing to get food to stay down yet?
x

Hevster · 23/08/2010 17:30

sandwich stayed down which was good - still feel really sick though - 6 weeks to go and that rare steak with blue cheese sauce is getting more appealing than the alcohol that I am starting to dream about!

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 23/08/2010 17:46

Mmmmmmmmmmmm... rare steak sounds amazing.

And all manner of cheeses.

Best of all though? I can go back to eating as much tuna as I like.. I miss Tuna so much lol...

x

(And of course, wine. Lots and lots of wine! DH has bought a bottle of Cristal for when our baby is born, and he needn't when all I dream about is Blossom Hill :p)

Hevster · 23/08/2010 18:18

wine delivery received here a few weeks back - bottle of chardonnay already chilling in fridge and red keeping nicely at room temp in case I can't decide which i want!!!!

KFW · 23/08/2010 18:28

hi all

hevster - i love that you and i have the same first meal planned. My steak is going to be ridiculously rare and I think I am going to start mine off with some parma ham, salami and pate as well Grin Too much meat do you think?!

DH went out shopping yesterday and came back with a babygrow. He bought one from Gap which is zebra striped with a matching zebra hat. With ears. Honestly. For someone who doesn't even like fancy dress himself, it's pretty unfair that he is clearly willing to inflict it on his as yet unborn daughter! (She will look cute though!)

Agree re AIBU. Not a place where nice people hang out (although it can be a giggle to look at!). I tried going on there to post a discussion (about credit card fraud checks in case you have a very bored moment and want to look) and even though I didn't rise to anything (at least I don't think I did) I thought that one or two posters were unreasonably aggressive. I dread to think what they are like in real life! Quoting things back at people is just horrid. (I do it all day at work, but then I am supposed to be fighting my client's corner. I don't do it for the sake of it!)

JazzieJeff · 23/08/2010 20:15

Hiya everyone!

Got my MW appointment on Wednesday and I'm excited about finding out which way LO is facing; I'm actually getting kicked in three different places as we speak and I don't know which are hands and which are feet Blush

I agree about the AIBU threads. I've put a few comments on there during more bored moments, but I can't stand how agressive and horrible some of them are. There was one on there recently about how the OP thought ADD/ADHD was made up and how it could be dealt with really easily with a smack Shock how insensitive is that? That's just so tight; I know a family who's DD genuinely suffers with it and I just don't think its on to take the piss out of someone who's actually got a form of brain damage. On my friend's DD; it is a form of brain damage as well and it got proved with one of those special head scan things. I just can't believe these posts don't get deleted Confused

Hevster loving that first meal plan; I am going to eat stilton toasted on a baguette... I've spent the past 2 weeks slowly stocking up my wine cooler as well Blush here's hoping I get the opportunity to drink it!

xxx

Hevster · 23/08/2010 21:53

Jazzie you just have to make the opportunity, but I did find it was several weeks before I could manage more than 1 glass!

How about a thread - I am female therefore I am always reasonable and all women should agree with me - or is that too jolly hockey sticks (and far too nice for all the deprived people bitching on AIBU)?

KFW you can't have too much of anything when you have abstained for 8/9 months, although your guts may feel differently the next day Grin

MummyBeth · 23/08/2010 22:42

Oh ladies - you are all going much to fast for me and my fat feet to keep up with!

You are all making me seriously hungry. My DH has promised to source and bring me some Mr Whippy ice-cream as I have been drooling all over the window's every time the ice cream van has come round this summer.

So going to knit some boobs tomorrow - mine have become a no go area for DH as squeezing leads to leaking - sorry TMI - but has anyone else had this?

Last week of work - sad but necessary! :)

Hevster · 24/08/2010 08:31

MummyB mine leaked all the time when I was pregnant with DD but not had any leakage this time - however am sure it's a good sign and at least you know they are "working"!

off shopping again today ladies (sorry for those of you working), really need to get something to wear for my cousins wedding which is 3 1/2 weeks post c-sect, impossible really but as I don't know what size I will be but hey ho - serves me right for not wanting to miss out on a family get together!

Have a good day all

babybunting2010 · 24/08/2010 08:58

Morning all,

We have been busy! Re the blue cheese thing, according to our midwife, most blue cheese (And brie!) in super markets is pasturised and therefore absolutely fine during pregnancy. Even if it's not pasturised if you cook it or melt it into a sauce this is the pasturisation process and therefore once again fine during pregnancy! Yeah was devestated to find that out last week as have abstained for a long time! Salami etc.... although cured meats are checked regularly and therefore the chances of getting food poisoning from them is very very slim. Admittedly don't go to a lovely deli and buy these things as not as heavily checked!

I am actually really nervous about trying to wine for the first time as haven't touched a drop since I was pregnant, plus was a pretty heavy smoker before pregnancy and also haven't touched a fag since the minute I suspected being pregnant, I have a bad feeling that wine might well make me think about smoking too much so am very wary of this, anyone else in the same boat! I really don't want to take up smoking again but still get cravings to have one! Naughty BabyB Naughty!!!! Blush

MummyB, did have clear leakage every now and then but it stopped a couple of weeks ago :( Hope it's all ok! Loving the knitted boob thing still, wish I could knit and I swear I'd make one!!!

Anyway hope everyone has a very lovely day! :)

Hello, just listening to my colleague discuss her son's gcses, he got 1 B, 2 A's and the rest A*s but shes not happy! I would be over the moon if my (unborn!) child got that!

babybunting2010 · 24/08/2010 11:57

Bloody Hell those are amazing would be chuffed to bits! My Nephew just got his results and my sister is bouncing off the walls! 4 A*s, 4 A's and 4 B's! Think your colleague sounds like one of those stepford parents that only want perfection!

Everyone is really quiet on here today! :)

xx

RooBear · 24/08/2010 12:05

Wow! well done BB's nephew! Shes lovely and I think she is very proud but the B was in German and they used to live there!

YummyMummy1208 · 24/08/2010 12:06

Morning All - or afternoon should i say!

No leakage for me yet, altho i didnt get any at all last time until he was born so will no doubt be the same again.

Lucky for me all those foods you're not supposed to eat i dont like much anyway so i dont really miss much apart from my toes and alcohol!

I really have had enough now and want to see my baby girl!

babybunting2010 · 24/08/2010 12:22

Roo- To be fair actually speaking a language and GCSE's of a language are very different, I only got a B in French and used to live there too, my Mum only moved back to the UK a couple of years ago! I got marks knocked off in my oral as I spoke with too much of an accent! Did argue that did it mean a Geordie (However you spell it!) Would get points knocked off because of an accent? But it didn't go down well. As you can imagine!

Yummy, I know what you mean about having enough, I am the same, I am so ready to not be pregnant anymore! The bad skin, the being tired all the time, the being starving but not fancying anything to eat!! Ah so frustrating, though can imagine the exhaustion and the bad skin will be twice as bad when LO arrives though am guessing that holding her in our arms will be enough to keep us going!

I can't bloody wait to be able to sleep on my front, though am also guessing that this isn't likely to happen until after breast feeding!
