Saartjie - my little one was in breech too. She then turned out of breech for a week or so, and then back into breech last Friday Hmm I knew she was in breech because I stopped having any kicks up top and had them on my cervix instead. Surprisingly painful. Anyway, she spun round AGAIN on Sunday and is now head down. I had my 30 week check with the GP and asked him whether there was any problem with it and when they stop spinning Confused I dread to think what she's doing to the cord. He said that they can keep turning until they are engaged. He said that may not happen until 37 weeks or so. It's very anxious making and I hate it when she is the wrong way up because, apart from worrying about the birth if she stays like that, I don't feel as many kicks (not to mention that the ones that I do feel are painful!).

In case it works for you, you may want to try getting on all fours on your knees (as someone else mentioned on here). I tried it because they recommended it in my yoga class. I got on all fours and rubbed my tummy in a circular motion (alternating directions) for about 5 minutes. I don't know if it was coincidence, but she did turn later that day.

I am really pleased for you that the strike is off!

Jazzie - we hit the M&P sale too. Smile

babyb hope the skin improves. Sounds horrible for you.

roo happy bday for yesterday

hev, "dilly* and everyone else: hello!

YummyMummy1208 · 18/08/2010 12:38

I love this forum!Just so nice to hear other people at the same stage are experiencing most of the same things you are! - makes me feel more normal anyway! Smile

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 18/08/2010 13:00

Hey all!

My pram arrived and my parents put it together and I'm so excited!!! Just had to pop on here so I could share with someone :) Having visions of walking my baby through a shopping centre and to the park... perfectly behaves of course :) lol

Has anyone thought about baby bags? I can't seem to find one I like... I've heard bad things about the bugaboo one so I didn't get it with the pram...

xx

DillyDora · 18/08/2010 14:30

Hear hear yummy! I couldn't be without this forum.

Terrible grumps again today...

Anything what do you mean by baby bags? Changing bags? I don't have one...LOL at you being all happy with your pram Grin

Yeah, good news about the strike Saartje

I have no idea where TJ is but suspect he is still lying sideways as he has done for all the pg up to now. Remember - breech babies can turn in labour so... could go to the last minute and still turn out just fine.

I'm feeling rubbish and hefty and swolly..it's not so nice but I guess it means our babies are growing so that's good Smile

Hevster · 18/08/2010 14:47

Oh my goodness, large pack of reuseable nappies have just been delivered by the postie - this "oh it's the cheap option" is becomming a reality.... best start the washing machine going!

As for changing bags, I just got a big canvas bag from fatface that goes in the wash and should hang from the buggy but the I will have DD1 and DD2's stuff to cart around, just V glad that DD1 is now out of nappies.

Hope you are all having a good day and those breech babies start shifting round the right way.

PatsyIsPreggers · 18/08/2010 16:13

My midwife wouldn't even tell me which way the baby was lying at the last appointment as she said it's not even worth thinking about that until 34/35 weeks. I only wanted to know whether the big lump I could feel above my belly button was likely to be a head or a bum!

That makes my midwife sound really harsh, but she's not, she's just very mumsy and no nonsense, and tries to stop you thinking pfb thoughts!

My last name begins with W and all my work colleagues have been peeing themselves laughing today at describing how Mrs W... waddles, and have decided my ! Oh yes, hilarious when I feel like a lardy lump the size of a house! Grin

Hevster have to admire you for getting all the reusables ready. We've got some, but also some disposables for the first few days as we've been told it'll be hectic enough without washing all the nappies. Will be interested to hear how you get on.

DillyDora · 18/08/2010 16:24

Patsy I like the sound of your mw, I actually quite like it when people are a bit no nonsense cos I'm a bit of a worrywort...

Hermya321 · 18/08/2010 18:40

Patsey If the lump is hard hard, it's a head, if it's hard squishy then it's a bum. If you feel kicks below your ribs, then baby is head down. If you mostly feel kicks down below in the cervix/bladder then baby is in a breech position.

Hevster · 18/08/2010 19:23

Patsy we also have some disposables for the first few weeks, but having added up what we spent on DD1's nappies (I'd like to say I was doing it for the environment but that is just an added bonus) I am determined to succeed!

Jacksmybaby · 18/08/2010 21:57

Hi all.

Re baby positions, saw MW yesterday, she said she thought baby was head down BUT I am convinced she was talking bollocks, as ALL the kicks I'm feeling are right down in my pelvis (even the kicks she was doing as the MW was actually feeling for position Hmm).

Anyway my certainty she has got it wrong is added to by the fact that I was wrongly told DS was head down right up until he was on his way out and a MW doing an internal feel said oops, I think that's a bottom not a head Shock. It all seems to be guesswork tbh! Although, in fairness the MW yesterday didn't spend very long feeling since as she rightly pointed out it doesn't actually matter now I have an ELCS scheduled.

But anyway, as others have said there is plenty of time yet for the babies to get into the right position and most babies do. Smile

Jacksmybaby · 18/08/2010 22:10

p.s. it's just occurred to me that between the birth and BFing etc stories I have written quite a few negative posts recently about my experience last time and that's not necessarily very helpful for you ladies going through it all for the first time so I'm really sorry and I hope I haven't freaked you out too much! Blush

It's all worth it I promise! Smile

Saartjie · 19/08/2010 08:30

No worries Jacks I am freaked out alreadyGrin The fact that I am going to be giving birth in another country were they speak a different language is enough to make me feel faint sometimes (although English is of course not my native language at least I am fluent in it). I am hoping baby will turn around but she has been in breach since week 18 so she seems to be very comfortable there. But whatever happens happens and I know there is still time for her to move.
Going in to London today, my firm is taking me out for a good bye lunch which should be nice. DH is doing the same at his work today although I bet his will be a much boozier affair for sureEnvy

Jenko77 · 19/08/2010 08:50

Jacks It's good to have an honest opinion and you certainly haven't freaked me out. In fact, I'm starting to freak out that I'm not freaking out enough Hmm - I should be starting to really freak out about the birth by now, and how to handle a newborn, and what if I can't bf etc etc, but I'm not yet. Perhaps once I'm on mat leave with more time to think, it'll hit me! Grin

Saartjie That must be worrying knowing you'll be giving birth in another country, and being breach. But as you say 'whatever happens happens' and for all the planning in the world, things still might not turn out as planned, even for those who have a very set idea for a birth plan. Good luck, and enjoy your lunch today. It's sunny in London at the mo, so let's hope the sun stays put for a while! Smile

Hevster I really admire you for going with reusable nappies. I thought about it, but then thought 'sod the environment and the expense, I want an easy life'!! Grin Do keep us posted how you get on with them though.

babybunting2010 · 19/08/2010 10:00

Morning all,

Have tried to catch up on everyones posts from yesterday, sounds like we are all getting to the stage where work is a little too much effort, compared to being on here! :)

Anything: We've got 2 changing bags, the free one that you get from boots, actually really love this one! As does DH and then the one that came with the pushchair, it's a little bulkier than the Boots one, so think we'll be using a mixture of the 2.

Hevster: I went with the little lambs reusables as they come highly recommended! Although I was really lucky and able to ask a load of questions on my sisters site, I think i've said before she runs a reuseable nappy site, if anyone is interested in getting more info www.clothnappytree.com but I have also got a stack of disposibles as well (Sister recommended not putting pressure on yourself by having all the options) Plus a lot of the reusables are a little too big for newborns!

I've done masses of research on the reuseable thing, so if anyone has any questions, let me know and I will try and answer anything.

Jacks, you didn't freak me out, I've come to the conclusion that although I desperately want to breast feed sometimes it just doesn't work, so am open minded to using formula as well, but not taking any to Hospital on the basis that I might give up too easily!

Has anyone else thought of home birth, I can't shake the idea, has anyone had one before or having one now? I really like the idea of being in my own comfort zone whilst in labour and being able to comfortably wander around, plus I am so dependant on DH that I feel like if I have to spend a night in the hospital after giving birth then I won't sleep!

Had a load of strange dreams last night, one was of being on a ward in early labour and not wanting to go to sleep in case I passed wind loudly at night (DH says I do this alot! Sorry tmi!)

Anyone sorry for writing a bit of an essay on here!

xxx

DillyDora · 19/08/2010 10:29

Morning!

Lovely to find you all here again - bit bruised after a really rude work email! Sad

Jacks you haven't freaked me out, I prefer the honesty!

Baby thanks for nappy advice offer, and also I can't give up the idea of homebirth either except we're in a rented flat and I would worry about ruining my landlord's floors or something!

Yeah - work isn't great, no one's fault, but I am so grousy in the mornings these days! O well...

xx

Hevster · 19/08/2010 10:38

BabyB we have gone for tots bots, did loads of research too and then found a good bundle of new at a bargain price on ebay so most of the research went out the window!

babybunting2010 · 19/08/2010 11:02

Hevster Haha I found ours on Ebay as well, was a bargain (It seems that someone had been trying to convince the seller to use them so bought them as a present which had never been opened! oh well her lose my gain!)

I've just been reading through our old posts as was trying to find the list that we had going of what people don't tell you about pregnancy, actually thinking of writing a lot of it down, fro future reference. Was weird seeing some of the posts from people who aren't on here anymore and thinking, I wonder how they are! Should probably look at the other thread and see how they are.

Then also felt like crying when I remembered the ones who mis carried and thinking I wonder if they've caught again! There's actually a fair few of us who were on the thread to begin with!

Anyone heard from Katy86???? Is she on the other thread or something?

x

DillyDora · 19/08/2010 11:10

Yeah and where is Xav? Or Daynee? (they were either on this Oct thread or the other one)

babybunting2010 · 19/08/2010 11:29

Daynee was def on this one, can't remember Xav though. What about Hermya as well!
x

babybunting2010 · 19/08/2010 11:30

Oops! Must be losing my marbles! Just realised Hermya has been on this thread this week! Sorry and waves at you! :)
x

DillyDora · 19/08/2010 11:32

Hermya is around for sure - she must be on the other thread (I get them really confused..I'm a thread tart Wink )

PatsyIsPreggers · 19/08/2010 13:24

Hermya posted on here yesterday at 18:40!

Had midwife appoint this morning and all is still ok. Everyone seems to have been saying how small I look given that I'm 32 weeks now, so was reassuring to hear that I'm measuring exactly right and to hear baby's heartbeat. It was a home visit today, so DH got to hear the baby's heartbeet too and was really chuffed. The MW was giving him tips for trying to listen to it with a loo roll tube, so I mey soon be enduring hours of 'I think I can hear it... no hang on a minute' Smile

It was also the session where they talk through breastfeeding and I found it quite amusing when MW whipped a knitted boob out of her bag! Thought these things were made up, not real.

Then got really emotional when she started talking about pain relief in labour, and caesarians. I've read all about it and know roughly what I want in terms of birth plan, but just to hear someone telling me all about it made it seem so much more real and closer than it has done before.

So went from laughing about knitted boob to on the verge of tears in about 2 minutes flat... The hormonal life of Patsy the Preggers! Confused

DillyDora · 19/08/2010 13:47

Lol at the knitted boob patsy I too have heard of this mystical object and cannot wait to see it! Birth plan stuff would make me cry too, it's the one thing that does, I am overwhelmed by the idea of it (in a good way!) Also loving the Blue Peter style heartbeat listening device!!!

JazzieJeff · 19/08/2010 14:49

Jacks You've not freaked me out either; just re affirmed my belief that although I'm going to absolutely try my best to breastfeed; I'm not going to spend hours beating myself up over it if I can't. And more importantly, I'm not going to listen to negative advice. I was talking to my Mum the other week when I visited (I bloody don't know why I bother though), who told me that breastfeeding was the 'easiest' thing in the world and that people who can't do it 'are just giving up too easily'. That pissed me off like you cannot imagine. So no pressure there, then. Shock At least I feel like I can come on here though and get some support if I need it. I kind of feel like people make such a HUGE deal out of the choice between FF and BF... I mean, it's not like I'm going to go with the third alternative and starve him, is it? I am actually planning to feed hi, which in my book is all that matters really Confused

Dilly What happened with the work email? Hope it's not made you too sad Sad

patsy Your midwife sounds cool Grin I want to meet the person who knits these boobs!

Had a bit of a hormonal day yesterday. I burst into floods of tears halfway through the hoovering and couldn't stop for about half an hour, by which time DH had come home to find me sobbing over the Dyson. I actually have no idea why I was crying, I just suddenly felt like a little girl again crying for her Mum and I so wanted to speak to her but I can't because my parents don't like me very much Sad so I had a bloody good sob into DH instead. Then he went to get me a tissue and came back with wads of loo roll and I started crying all over again about how if I was a good wife, I'd buy real tissues instead of having to use loo roll Blush oh dear.... it doesn't bode well for the future, does it?!

xx

RooBear · 19/08/2010 14:54

aw don't worry jazzie I got upset last night as i cooked a chilli for DH as it was his birthday and his favourite meal, and I didn't think it was good enough. I too started crying saying I was a bad wife while he sat there tucking in and looking bewildered!
