ahh I get the bunting name now!

Hevster · 29/07/2010 13:55

Hev Cooper email [email protected]

GTT is glucose tolerance test for gestational diabeties. DD was quite a big baby (8lb 8oz) and I am permenantly thirsty so they thought I had better be tested. Wouldn't recommend it as you get starved for hours then have sugar poured in to see how your body deals with it. Made me feel a bit wobbly and spent the whole 2 hrs dreaming of coffee!

Hevster · 29/07/2010 14:00

oh, if you want to find me on facebook it's Hev Cooper and the picture is of me (with a hat on), DH and DD at my sister's wedding

KFW · 29/07/2010 14:25

hi all

I am def up for a post natal thread. How would fbook work? We will have to find somewhere cunning to put the thread so that we dont end up with a squillion people on it. I like our rather quiet space here. (promise i am not normally antisocial)

I went to have a scan today DH and I decided to get one before we went and bought nursery things because I was still a bit wobbly about it all due to past experiences. Anyway, we went this morning and all is good! She was looking great, sucking her toes (?!), yawning etc. She is breech but I guess she has plenty of time to turn round. All looked normal with placenta and fluid and everything so I feel like I can relax a bit now. And this weekend we go shopping

She is measuring a wee bit on the small side for every dimension except her tummy, which is bang on average. Greedy!

DillyDora · 29/07/2010 16:34

Hi KFW glad your scan was lovely and your daughter is v bendy!

I'm not on fbook - too much fear that students will somehow find me (wuss), can we have one here too?

xx

Jacksmybaby · 29/07/2010 17:47

KFW glad your scan was good and put your mind at ease. My LO has a larger than average tummy although all other dimensions are average!

anything... good luck with your scan today.

Ooh... real names, exciting! May be being thick, but there is more than one Rachel Mullen and Lucy Bunting on FB so how to find the right ones? Found Hevster though. (So is Hev your real name?)

I am on FB as Emma Herbert Haigh... think I am the only one or at least the first that comes up under that name (pic is of me + microphone, giving a speech at my bro's wedding... brown halter neck dress, blonde hair). Must say I never really look at FB any more though... so as others have said, would be good to keep a thread going on here too.

FutureMum I think you need to have subscribed to the MN "CAT" service to be able to exchange personal details privately with other MNers. AFAIK though you can only contact one person at a time rather than set up a private "group", so not really sure of the best way to do this!

babybunting2010 · 29/07/2010 20:52

If you search on my maiden name i'm the only one that comes up lucy abney-hastings my picture is from my wedding day! X

Jacksmybaby · 29/07/2010 21:11

found you! Gorgeous wedding pic!

Hevster · 30/07/2010 06:11

real name Heather but only people I don't like use it (and my Dad who chose it!)
BB Great wedding pic

We should be able to find a nice place to start a thread and if we call it something dull I am sure we will be left in peace!

Off to take DH to hospital for his keyhole surgery on his shoulder this morning, am hoping he doesn't expect too much sympathy afterwards as I get none from him!

On a brighter note - booked next years summer holiday for the 4 of us (very strange booking for TBA infant!) and sunny Menorca here we come....

babybunting2010 · 30/07/2010 07:33

tee hee hev we'll have to come up with something really dull to stop people reading it. It's weird putting real names and faces to everyone. Thanks about the wedding pic. Loved every second of it. Plus it was extra special as my big sis made my dress for me! X

YummyMummy1208 · 30/07/2010 11:41

Hello Ladies,

Havent checked in on here for a while so just been catching up on all the new posts!

Howz everyone feeling today? - this week seems to a flown by, 1 more down, 9 weeks at work to go! Altho i think i will miss it once i have left - u cant please some people eh!

babybunting2010 and Hevster, have sent you a friends request on fb incase you wonder who the strange request is from! Would be good to keep in touch after babies r here!

We have paint on the walls now! (yay!) and OH is buying carpet today so that will be fitted tomorrow, then off to my mums to collect the cot and i can then be let loose in there to fill the room with pink pink pink! Am i the only late goer on the nursery front? im thinking i may start early and begin buying things for the labour bag - mainly my lucozade energy tablets as they came in V.handy last time round!

Anyone got any useful ideas fore labour bag luxuries? - im thinking, iPod, chocolate, maybe a few mags but not sure ill get round to those!, birthing ball as i dont think the hospital has them...hmmm what else?

KFW · 30/07/2010 14:40

Wow yummy, you are being organised now. Labour bags! I havent really been thinking about how I am going to get this baby out yet!

I reckon it's definitely a good idea to get organised with that or at least think about it early on though. Not having done it before, I don't know what would be good, but your suggestions so far sound excellent (esp chocolate!). At my yoga class yesterday my teacher was telling us to take an essential oil with us that we like that we could put on a hanky or something to sniff and calm us down. I am not sure I personally will be into that, but I do understand that if you have a particular aversion to hospitals/the smell of hospitals you might find that good/relaxing?

One of my friends said that she bought a blanket to take for her baby because she didnt like the idea of her being wrapped in a hospital blanket. I think that's quite a nice idea and I might take one as well as the babygrows etc we need.

Enjoy doing the nursery. DH and I are off shopping this weekend.

"jacks" sounds like you are having a chubber too!

Daynee · 30/07/2010 16:53

Hi ladies - Sorry about the delays in writing...I'm super busy at work now .
Love the facebook thing.
My name: Dana Verdino

Jacks - Yes I'm a teacher but our school is year-round, so our summer breaks are shorter but we get more breaks throughout the year!

Looks like the 1st one to set up a post-natal thread for us will be Sophie or Futuremom!!!

I can't wait to meet my Scarlett. I had a dream last night that she was kicking in my stomach like crazy and when I looked down at my bare belly, I saw a line of spikes...hmmm...

Hevster · 30/07/2010 20:46

We had a talk on the old hospital bag at NCT last time, I was horrified when the lady strongly recommended you take a mirror so that you could get DH/DP to hold it and therefore see the head come out , not my idea a pretty pic but quite prepared to be the odd one out! (I didn't allow DH to take a camera either so I must be a bit wierd)

babybunting2010 · 30/07/2010 20:51

daynee that sounds a horrid dream bless you! Hope you have some nicer ones tonight! Yummy one of my friends sent me a list of what to take to the hospital was one list for us one for baby and one for partner! Have got it on a word doc at work will post it on here next week. I'm suffering today got an awful stomachache and lots of toilet breaks tmi sorry! Keep getting bad cramps in tummy which are freaking me out as am worried that the baby won't like it. Silly i know. Oh well. Night all. X

Jacksmybaby · 30/07/2010 21:13

re hospital bags, I would suggest packing a separate SMALL emergency bag with just the absolute essentials (maternity notes, cash for parking/taxi to hosp, change of clothes for you, couple of nappies and a vest and sleepsuit for baby).

I've probably said this before on here but this is based on my experience of ending up not having anything at all with me when DS was born even though I had packed a bag, because I had to get myself into hospital and the bag was too big and heavy to carry! Poor DS spent his first few hours in a hospital gown that matched mine, bless him!

Hevster I'm so with you on the whole camera / mirror thing... not a chance, thanks!!

Daynee have sent you a friend request on FB.

YummyMummy1208 · 30/07/2010 21:31

Yes im not so sure on the whole mirror thing either, altho i did buy one last time to take with me it never got used! Im considering the whole water birth idea again this time round - even tho as the birthing pool was being used i had a bath and after the first contraction it hurt so much (due to having to remove the tens machine) i got straight out! maybe the bath didnt have the ful effect like a birthing pool?
Iv been watching the 'One born every minute' series on channel 4OD this week and its getting me all excited (call me strange i know!) about the birth! altho its really agrivating watching the women in labour who lie on their backs during the early stages!...i keep wanting to scream at the TV 'Get up and walk around!! Then maybe it wouldnt hurt so much!' is this just me? I couldnt sit down during my labour it hurt so much wen lying/sitting that i stood up the whole time apart from the last hour and a half when the 'pushing' bit started!

Hevster · 31/07/2010 06:15

30 weeks done!!!! Oh my goodness, reality is kicking in, so much to do and only 10 weeks left

YummyMummy1208 · 31/07/2010 11:47

only 10 weeks?! it seems like a lifetime to me, altho im trying to enjoy my time before baby no.2 arrives as i know things will b a lot harder for a while after shes here.

still hard to not be counting down the weeks tho!

Hevster · 31/07/2010 17:03

it is a lifetime but not compared to 30 already done! Am also trying to make the most of the time with DD1 before DD2 arrives but I don't think she is getting the best of me at the moment, am just so knackered!

YummyMummy1208 · 01/08/2010 12:00

yea i know how u feel, im very snappy due to low patience threshold lately so one day i have the patience of a saint, the next im jumping down his throat for taking too long to walk up the stairs!

I'm sure things will be back to normal soon, once baby has arrived and settled in we can resume our lives back to how they were!

I may be totally off the mark here but i have a feeling this one is gonna want to come out asap compared to DS1 - they practically had to force him to come out cos he wanted to stay in there but this time round she is so fidgity and violent with her movements i get the feeling i have a little hyper child in there! DS1 was never this active and has proven to be a more relaxed baby so im thinking this one will be the oposite?

DillyDora · 01/08/2010 17:48

OOOoh, yummymummy you have the same thing as me! My LO is soooo fidgety and the movements feel huge (bit like a very large fish!). This is my first baby but my Mum says my bro and I were never this active in the womb so....I wonder! Hope he'll be ok!

Hevster · 01/08/2010 19:59

This 1 is a lot more active that DD1 was but I will be in trouble if DD2 is more active in real life than DD1 as I struggle to keep up with her let alone 2 of them!

YummyMummy1208 · 01/08/2010 21:42

Well im just glad if this one does end up hyper that she came second as i wont be getting much rest anyhow with DS1 this time around so what the hell, may aswell throw a hyper baby into the bowl aswell eh!

I do get slightly worried with her movements tho, some of the kicks really hurt and feel almost like her leg is gonna burst thru my belly, its usually on the top right hand side aswell which means this area is sooo sore, i swear if i could look inside it would be bruised to hell! i can definately tell wen she is sleep moving and awake moving now tho, wen shes awake ... oh hell dont i know it!

We have the cream carpet in the room! yay! its not fitted yet as (clever chap as he is) OH forgot to bring tools home from work to finish the job but at least its in there and i can see thats its the perfect choice! i love it, my very own pink baby room!

DillyDora · 02/08/2010 08:28

On the subject of wriggly babies I actually got DH to ask his Mum if he and is bro had been like that (I don't speak enough German ) and they had....phew.... at least we have a precedent. Yummy I have this bit waaay over to the right over my hip where he sometimes kicks and that can be very sore too!

Glad to hear about the carpet - it's all coming together!

30 weeks Hevster lucky you...still only 28 and a bit...
