Hi everyone...I'm new to Mumsnet and this is my first thread...very exciting!

I tested positive on Monday and think I am due on 3rd December 2010. I don't think anyone has started a December thread yet, so I thought I would get the ball rolling. Sorry if it's already on here somewhere!

This is my first pregnancy and I am so happy! I am trying not to dwell too much on what could go wrong (it's early days) and instead am focusing on how amazing, new and wonderful this feels!

I am still trying to work out what all the BFPs, POAS and the like mean...but I'm having fun trying!

Would be great to hear from you all. x

well peeps am hitting week 8 tomorrow and can't wait scan is booked, very exciting now.

Had to buy some new bras yesterday as have gone up 2 bra sizes already as if I was big enough at a 38dd (sorry tmi)

Best friend is going to come to the scan, just remember last September when I had those dreadful scans with my miscarriage pacing up and down the waiting room with a full bladder.

Oh well here goes, hope everyone is well.

Hiya,

Anyone else got morning sickness but not actually being sick? I had hyperemesis last time, but this time I just feel sick constantly and have no appetite. I've lost 5 lb this week (was overweight anyway) aand was just wondering if I was on my own with this?

Hope everyone is well

xx

angelsw12 · 23/04/2010 11:12

Hi everyone.
I had nausea all day every day during week 5 but week 6 I felt much better. I haven't actually been sick though so am hoping I am one of the lucky ones! My mum said she never had morning sickness either.
Hope you all feel good soon! x

LeylaHP · 23/04/2010 16:34

Lol, it's so embarrassing, isn't it LLKH! My husband has banned me from certain foods!!

LeylaHP · 23/04/2010 16:35

Same here. I'm week 7 and my nausea seems to have vanished but that may be because i'm drinking ginger ale or the worst has yet to come!!

angelsw12 · 23/04/2010 17:23

Leyla, its also my first time and I am due on 11th Dec! (just one day after you right?). According to my doctor I am 7 weeks today.
My boobs hurt a lot and am generally tired (almost fell asleep in a meeting yesterday at work!) but other than that feel ok....cant help feeling that one of these days it will creep up on me and I will have to take back all my words!
Have you told many people?

angelsw12 · 23/04/2010 17:26

I also haven't heard from a midwife yet, my doc referred me 2 weeks ago but I haven't got a booking or a scan date or anything - does anyone know if this is normal?

kiwi5 · 23/04/2010 18:26

Hi all
Almost chickened out of posting this, dont want to jinx it! I am 6 weeks today, due date 17th dec.
I feel like i should feel something more.
Tho my boobs are massive and sore, feeling pretty knackered, other than that not too many pregnant things.
happy weekend xxx

PJen · 23/04/2010 19:07

guys join us in the antenatal thread for december mummies...

Since you guys are not there I have to post this here too... I found the ultimate remedy for nausea! Ginger pickel... yes those that they serve with sushi. I had vegeterian sushi for lunch and haven't had nausea for straight 6 hours!!! That is the first timer as I am constantly battling with nausea these days.... yayyy...

AnitaBlake · 24/04/2010 20:08

Hi websticks! how's it going? I'm doing ok so far, actual diet starts Monday, I've always had the munchies lol, just trying to munch on healthy things now, and going for a walk tomorrow morning, so hopefully a good start! Let me know how you get on too love!

websticks · 25/04/2010 07:28

Hi Anitablake
I have had bad nausea this week and been off my food, had to force myself to eat small meals throughout the day, Just got weighed and have lost 4 lbs. I have quite a physical job (work in a nursery) so been busy rushing around there so hoping that will keep weight at bay! Good luck with the healthy eating.

Lucypeanut · 25/04/2010 12:24

I'm due the 16th December and am new to mumsnet too. So excited but finding it all very strange. I've been to the doctor who said congratulations are you taking folic acid? that was pretty much it, and now I'm waiting to hear back from the hospital.
How long should it be before I hear something and am booked in for a scan, I can't wait!!

purplehibiscus · 25/04/2010 16:38

hey ladies,
Can I join you? I am due around the 2nd December. Found out many weeks ago and have been trying to keep it a secret, but my DH is a lot better at that than I am. So nice to hear from people who are going through similar issues! I have a lot of anxiety about everything going wrong, especially since I don't have nausea or too much fatigue. Any advice on early scans?

crazykat · 25/04/2010 17:17

Early scans depend on where you live as each area seems to have it's own policy. IME it's between 10-14 weeks for the first scan but if you've had an mc previously you can ask for an earlier one.

The other option is to go private.

alinjosh · 25/04/2010 18:46

congrats ladies, can i join please im ali got my bfp on monday at 10dpo so early although the line came up within seconds and quite dark, this is my 5th baby i already have 4 boys and i will be 40 when this bundle of joy arrives, due date is 28th dec i saw my mw on thursday and booked in for a reassurance scan on 12 may

heidipi · 26/04/2010 12:55

Hello all - I had my booking appointment with the midwife this morning so the whole things feels a bit more real now!

I'm 8+3 but hardly any nausea, no tiredness, slightly sore boobs that have more or less gone back to normal now, so can hardly believe anything is happening in there and can't help worrying about that tbh. Midwife said (as everyone else has) that some women are just like that, didn't seem concerned, and it sounds like my scan will be around week 12 - 13 with nuchal and blood test done at the same time.

So now it's another 4 week wait - time seems to stand still at the moment!

Hope everyone else is doing well x

spotty24 · 26/04/2010 13:20

Hi everyone - I have my first appointment with the midwife tomorrow, am 5+3 baby due around 24/12! It's our first baby and all feels quite strange at the moment, really tired, sore boobs and peeing a LOT! No sickness yet so hopefully that stays away! Congrats to all x x

Lucypeanut · 26/04/2010 21:09

Any one else getting spots, I had great skin through my teens looks like it's my turn now I hit thirty!

Congrats as well to all xx

Hopeful1980 · 26/04/2010 21:36

Hi everyone - I've got my first docs appointment tomorrow and I think I'll be 5 weeks exactly. Boobs are getting sore now and have a big bloated belly + loads of wind!

I think my due date is 28th Dec, but will see what the doc says tomorrow... yikes, starting to believe this is happening now!

It's so good to have some company with all you mums to be, expecially as it's such a big secret at this stage x

crazykat · 27/04/2010 19:18

I've had more spots in the last two weeks than the last two years! I've found boots tee tree and witch hazel day and night blemish wand is brilliant.

3babesfull · 27/04/2010 21:51

Hello! Yep spots (had them with both my girls too), bloating (now look 20 weeks but tomorrow may have gone down again!), so tired that I can barely get through the day. Maybe it is my age! Feel nauseous and smells (even 'nice' ones) are causing me problems! Hoping that I come back to the land of the living by 12 weeks or my children will disown me and my colleagues will guess!

rosietoestoo · 29/04/2010 15:47

Hello all. Hope everyone is feeling ok. I'm not...I've been retching the last couple of days- not nice at all. I keep running off to the loo at work- i work in a hospital & im afraid people will hear me and tell me to go home as you usually have to with vomiting! ah dear, the trials & tribulations...on the plus side it is kind of reassuring & makes me feel like i'm actually pregnant. But I'm sure the novelty will wear off!

Does anyone know roughly when the nausea stops? I'm only 6 weeks so hope its not too long. Supermarket shopping is really hard as I feel so nauseous with all the food smells.

Sorry-moan, moan, moan- I feel better now! Can't wait to show, seems like that will be ages away, but at the same time don't want to wish the whole pregnancy away! Wanting to buy new clothes for work but I guess there's not too much point if tummy coming soon, fingers crossed!

take care all

Rapunzel88 · 30/04/2010 14:39

rosietoestoo sorry to hear about the retching. I'm 9 and a bit weeks now and I think the nausea is wearing off a bit, or perhaps just wishful thinking? Hope yours goes away soon.

Just popped out in my lunch hour to do a bit of shopping for maternity gear as am finding normal jeans and trousers really uncomfortable now. Got some great combat trousers in Mamas and Papas who are doing a 30% off deal till Monday- worth checking out as they have some nice stuff.
Had to dive back into the office and try and hide the bag! Thankfully no-one spotted me and asked me what I'd been buying. Would have been a bit of a giveaway if I'd got caught.
Has anyone thought about when they're going to tell work yet? A colleague has just annouced she's due and I'm dying to tell her my news.

PJen · 30/04/2010 15:23

Hi Rapunzel88 I am end of 8 wks and switching to bigger size clothes, bumpbands, etc too. I have told only my boss. He is absolutely nice and I thought even if (god forbids) MC happens I would need time off and he should know. He was very supportive!

rosietoestoo I read in books that it will last usually till wk 12. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but believe me, I can't wait for it to be over! I am dying from constant nausea!

laziness · 30/04/2010 15:42
