Hi everyone...I'm new to Mumsnet and this is my first thread...very exciting!

I tested positive on Monday and think I am due on 3rd December 2010. I don't think anyone has started a December thread yet, so I thought I would get the ball rolling. Sorry if it's already on here somewhere!

This is my first pregnancy and I am so happy! I am trying not to dwell too much on what could go wrong (it's early days) and instead am focusing on how amazing, new and wonderful this feels!

I am still trying to work out what all the BFPs, POAS and the like mean...but I'm having fun trying!

Would be great to hear from you all. x

Hello all! And congratulations! Hope you don't mind me joining in - I am new to Mumsnet, am almost 5 weeks with first so very early and I think my due date is 11th December. Have been trying since January and after convincing myself every month I was pregnant I was so excited and shocked that this time the test was positive!
Biscuitbreaker I know what you mean! I think I am more nervous than my other half, I am terrified that something bad might happen so we have decided to keep it fairly quiet until 3 months.
Feel quite lucky as symptoms have been quite minimal so far, just very sore boobs and some nausea in the evenings.

LittleCedar I know exactly what you mean - saw lots of family and friends over Easter and everyone seemed to talking about babies, so strange!! And so difficult to not say anything!

mamaeff · 07/04/2010 12:41

Yipppeeee!! Me too!! (and congratulations all round)
Did an early (10 DPO) test on Friday and it's been positive since then. Seems I'm due on Dec 14...aaagh. Amazing. Nice to be able to tell people (you).

When are you all going for your first check-up?

angelsw12 · 07/04/2010 12:56

I have booked a doctors appointment for Friday but I think I may get told to go away as its too early. Not sure what happens as it seems to be different with everyone....

Funloving · 07/04/2010 13:14

Hi all, I can also jump on the december wagon - took a test last week, due 9th december. Still in a state of shock/disbelief/blissful happiness. Having quite bad cramps at times - i've made the error of telling my mother and she's freaking out that i shouldn't be having pains now etc etc... however by reading other threads it seems it can be completely normal... i'm a big fan of mumsnet now!!

Anyway, congrats to all, lovely to meet you and looking forward to the next 35 weeks with you!! xx

CherryPie3 · 07/04/2010 14:22

FOR KISSES1973

You prob won't recognise my name - I used to be Kaylo.

We both m/c at around the same time and were on the same m/c thread.

I'm glad to hear you're doing well - and huge congratulations on your pregnany.
I can completely understand your worries, I had the same when I got my bfp But I'm now 24 weeks pregnant, so I'm happy to say this pregnancy is looking like a viable one - thank god!!

Lots of love
K xx

LittleCedar · 07/04/2010 14:25

I have my first appointment with the midwife on 20th April (which will make me a day off 8 weeks pregnant). I decided to by pass the GP as I don't think they can do much apart from refer you to the midwife and tell you to take folic acid. Obviously, if I have any worries/concerns before the 20th I'll be straight down there.

Hello all, I though I should join you. I am due December 8th. Its all a big secret because I have never been pg before, I can hardly believe its really happeneing and I'm worried about mcs etc. Its very odd sitting here at work writing openly about it, when nobody around me knows anything...

How about the rest of you - are you keeping it quiet until after the first trimester?

LittleCedar · 07/04/2010 15:13

Hi ToriMarguerite - congratulations! Much of what you say strikes a chord with me - I'm a first timer too, it's still surreal to me and I worry about mc too. I'm working from home today and have spent far too much time on mumsnet...oops.

I am keeping it quiet until the 12 week scan...it's my DH and my precious little secret. x

FourOfFour · 07/04/2010 15:18

Hello!

Do you mind if I join you?

I got a BFP a couple of days ago and MN Due Date Calculator is telling me EDD is 16th December.

It's my first, but DH's 3rd (he has 2 from a previous marriage). I'm ridiculously excited, but like you all, very worried about MC etc.

I've never been pg before, but am fascinated by the 'rumblings' going on in my err, womb area. Not cramping, but I can almost feel the bean burrowing in. So exciting!

We're planning on keeping it to ourselves until 12 weeks, but is already a bit difficult. I do competitive long distance running, and was putting in a shocking performance at the gym this morning (barely a fast walk tbh). One of my friends saw me and came over to laugh - it was all I could do to stop myself yelling at him that I was growing a person, so cut me some slack!

kisses1973 I'm sorry to hear that, I'm sure he'll come round.

heidipi · 07/04/2010 15:28

Hello - me too! First month of trying and I'm 40 - still in shock. Think I'm due on 5th Dec, all being well - will see doc in a couple of weeks. Feeling fine generally, which I was a bit worried about but sounds like it's not just me, so maybe it's just too early for full blown tiredness/sickness etc.

So I'm a geriatric first timer and very happy to be here!

Hello all December ladies,

By dates I am 6 weeks + 3 days but I was not in the same country as my boyfriend 14 days after my LMP so my dates are definitely a bit out!!

Took antibiotics for a urinary tract infection about 4 weeks ago which I am a little worried about, looking forward to discussing this with the GP. Still feels a bit like a UTI but now I'm starting to wonder if this is just what early pregnancy feels like?? Vague pelvic discomfort, constantly having to wee??

Any thoughts?

Like others in the thread we are not telling anyone until the 12 week scan, had an early MC in January and would rather wait until we know this one is viable.

Hope it all works out, and that we can chat through things together!

TheChangeSpiral · 07/04/2010 16:32

Hello all
Just joined too and this is my first ever post. I found out yesterday that my first baby is due on 14th December and very excited! I'm terrible at keeping secrets so I'm not even bothering to try.

Hello, I'm due December 2nd. This is my first baby and my other friends who have had babies live nowhere near me. So, I told my husband in February that I couldn't wait any longer and please can we try and have a child soon, explaining that at 29, it's likely to take at least a few months. Hmm, so this rather took us by surprise! My first midwife appt is 12th May and all they sent me is a booklet of screening and tests which scared me more than reassure! Should they be doing any tests or anything prior to May 12? Probably be two months then as conception was 6th - 15th March, thereabouts. Grateful for any advice and support!

Thank you.

Biscuitbreaker · 07/04/2010 17:25

Ooh, this thread has really grown! I am trying to keep it a secret, but I really can't wait to tell everyone! I have a couple of other health issues (heart) so have been to see the GP today for checks and that. I am desperate to have a scan because I want so badly to see that everything is ok. Will just have to cross my fingers till then!

Have been having some pretty intense PMT style cramps for a while - but am being constantly reassured that this is normal...

kisses1973 · 07/04/2010 18:26

FOR CHERRYPIE 3 (USED TO BE KAYLO)

I'm really pleased for you congratulations can't wait to get to that stage.

Really nervous at the moment but scared all the time, here's hoping, I get to that 9 month time and actually give birth to a beautiful baby this time.

Hope all is well with you.

Lots of love

God there's loads of us!

The secret bit is hard, but my boyfriend told his mum and dad the day we found out because he was so excited and thought that by telling someone it would make it more real.

The weird thing is that his mum sees a medium regularly and always seems to know about bad and good things in the future (freaky - not sure how I feel about that). After days of stressing I made him ring her to ask if it will end in tears. Apparently it won't and as a plus she also knows the babys name!

So there you have it. Forget the doctor, pop into your local medium for everything you need to know. (joke, don't do that).

Biscuitbreaker · 07/04/2010 22:50

Wait - she knows the baby's name? And you don't? Ask her!!!

angelsw12 · 08/04/2010 09:47

ToriMarguerite my boyfriend's Mum also said a medium had told her to expect the 'pitter patter of tiny feet' and it would be a boy and the name would be Jamie. Obviously I have no idea the sex of the baby yet but Jamie is definitely not on my list......maybe she was thinking of someone else!

Biscuitbreaker I have also been having some mild period type pains, but reading some other threads on here a lot of other people seems to have it too so hopefully nothing to worry about....

My secret is not going very well, I have told 2 more people this week! arggghhhh

kisses1973 · 08/04/2010 10:24

Well peeps seeing midwife on 27th April. Worked my due date out to be 5th December 2010, can't wait.

Really don't think my partner is going to come round because last night he asked me to have an abortion, what an insentive bloke. This is not going to happen, if I have to do this by myself I will. I can't cope with the stress of him at the moment so have said to him that he has 8 weeks from yesterday to decide whether he is going to stand by me, if I don't hear from him I will presum that he wishes to have nothing to do with me or the baby and he will not hear from me ever again. I think that its fair.

I'm really excited though and can't wait.

Hope everyone is doing well.

xxxxx

heidipi · 08/04/2010 10:40

Hurray - started feeling sick today!! Just coming up to 6 weeks and was starting to wonder if anything was going on in there, so am oddly pleased to feel queasy and a bit dazed this morning.

And this gives me a licence to tuck into ginger biscuits, right?

Hope you're all doing well x

mamaeff · 08/04/2010 12:12

Well done kisses1973 for taking a stand with the bf. Things will work out for the best whatever happens.
The ChangeSpiral we share a due date - hoorah (I was feeling a bit behind everyone else here ).
I only ask about first appointments because I'm working in Kenya and therefore have private health insurance rather than a nice ordered NHS, so I rather have to make things up myself - I was just wondering how things work out in the UK, generally. I've had 2 babies here before, but rather erratic appointments/tests because I was having to hop over the border from Tanzania in those days. Now I have great hospitals on the doorstep so things should be a bit better organised.
Biscuitbreaker - I agree it's really hard to keep a secret. Last time I told loads of people at just 5 weeks. This time I'm trying to be more cautious but it's too exciting!! So far I've only told my sister...(she is pregnant too).

ToriMarguerite · 08/04/2010 12:22

To Biscuitbreaker and kisses1973, bf decided not to ask for the name because he doesn't want it to influence us. I'm curious but again would like to come to my own decision (obviously bf gets a bit of an input...).

Also, agree that it could be rubbish or she could be referring to another of her potential grandchildren, so i'm going to ignore all this crystal ball business.

Going to see doctor this afternoon, I'm sure they'll just send me packing but I just feel like I should be doing somthing to make it real.

yellowflowers · 08/04/2010 12:29

Hi,

Can I join? Tested positive two days ago after over two years ttc and literally about to start iui and clomid next cycle. Also overweight and pcos.

From my calculations due date would be Dec 14th.

Main worries are not putting on too much weight as already bmi 41 and want to be healthy. Also conerned about whether this pragnancy will work though trying not to worry as not sure anything I can do except hope.

This is my first pregnancy.

kisses1973 · 08/04/2010 12:55

hey everyone

i've got a really sore chest at the moment and a lot more tired than usual. Believe it or not can't wait to start feeling sick, but not everyone feels sick do they.

Also can't wait till i'm huge xxxx
