Hi everyone...I'm new to Mumsnet and this is my first thread...very exciting!

I tested positive on Monday and think I am due on 3rd December 2010. I don't think anyone has started a December thread yet, so I thought I would get the ball rolling. Sorry if it's already on here somewhere!

This is my first pregnancy and I am so happy! I am trying not to dwell too much on what could go wrong (it's early days) and instead am focusing on how amazing, new and wonderful this feels!

I am still trying to work out what all the BFPs, POAS and the like mean...but I'm having fun trying!

Would be great to hear from you all. x

Hey guys.

New to mumsnet.

Just found out yesterday that I'm pregnant with my 2nd child. due 23/12/2010!!

Scary being that close to christmas!

OnlyWantsOne · 16/04/2010 10:45

Can I just say it again, feels a shame that we December ladies are in two different groups.

There is an antenatal thread in the antenatal board for December 2010.

There are a few of us there - please come over and say hello

GKP · 16/04/2010 16:19

me too ! due 14 december- SO exciting !

annatw9 · 16/04/2010 18:30

hello all, i have just tested positive pregnant with my second child, my first is only just ten months old, im still in a state of shock and disbelief but bring it on! desperately trying to sell house now to move to bigger place, whilst at the same time keeping an eagle eye on crawling, toddling, accident prone baby... congratulations everyone!

Wendyb65 · 16/04/2010 19:31

Hello everyone!

I tested positive last Sunday following 21/2 yrs of fertility treatment and one miscarriage. My EDD is 17th December. I am also an older mum as I am 45 at the minute!

Have got my fingers crossed that I can go all the way this time, although a bit worried as I have a brown discharge tonight!

Good luck everyone!

shadowpuss · 16/04/2010 21:33

Went to see my GP and got the number to make a midwife appointment. Apparently don't have to wait to 12 weeks to have a scan - they routinely do them between 8 & 10 weeks in Scotland and I can ask to have it when I want. Don't think I can wait another 6 weeks, so will definitely try and get it earlier!

Cozie · 17/04/2010 11:34

Wendy 65 - MASSIVE congratulations, reading your thread made my hairs stand on end.

xx

Ladidah · 18/04/2010 10:33

Hello LittleCeder and every one!

I am new to Mumsnet and I am so happy to find this group. I am 34 and this is my first pregnancy. My EDD is the 6th December too. Its really hard not to be able to tell any one. I had dinner with a friend the other night and told her I wasn?t drinking just in case I was. I think she was suspicious and understood the need for me to keep it quite until it safe to do so. I told my husband about my night and he said I couldn?t lie to save my life and he thinks she knows. LOL!

I feel tired in the mornings. At the best of times I can?t get up any way so I don?t know how I will manage as the pregnancy progresses. I haven?t had any major morning sickness yet. I did however have a little bout at work this week but managed to drink loads of mint tea and that help. Must get some ginger tea as well. I have already started wearing a bra to sleep in.

I so excited and happy and nervous and every thing all at once!

rosietoestoo · 18/04/2010 11:18

Yes Ladidah it's soooo hard not to tell people! We've told parents & a few very close friends. I kind of figured if something bad did happen we'd want their support. But it's such a personal decision who to tell really.

Is anyone else itchy? Really random I get attacks of itchiness everywhere a couple of times a day. i know it can indicate liver probs in later pregnancy but ive never heard of it in early pregnancy, very random! yet very annoying!

hope everyone is keeping well.

twolittlemonkeys · 18/04/2010 13:51

Hello! Can I join?

Just tested this morning and got my relatively faint but definite BFP. This will be #3 for us and we are thrilled to bits but am determined to keep it quiet until 12 week scan... soooo hard!

Worked out that my due date is Christmas Eve (have already had 2 C/S though so this baby will almost certainly be born about a week earlier by c-section. I want to scream with excitement :-)

I needed Clomid to conceive (as I did with DS1) so will have to ring the fertility nurse on Tuesday as she doesn't work on Mondays to arrange early scan etc.

Congrats to everyone on here!

viks14 · 18/04/2010 13:56

Me too!!

Congratulations everyone!

I am due on 5th December - first one.

Scared but excited and very very tired!! I am at work today too, falling asleep at my desk.

I have not had any symptoms except for the tiredness (fingers crossed no Morning sickness)

Mimi1977 · 18/04/2010 14:03

Hi,

I'm finally plucking up courage to join after my faint BFP a week ago - I now have a very definate BFP and guess I'm about 5+1.

I know some of you from the December bus so big hello to you all!

This is #2 for us and I'm so excited. I'm a Dec baby and so is my DH (both within a week of Xmas day!) My due date will be 19th Dec. We used to joke we couldn't have a baby in Dec but when it comes to TTC you really couldn't care!

Congratulations to everyone on here.

nes100 · 18/04/2010 14:11

hi congrats everyone!! I'm a first timer too and due 9th december we have been trying for a year but now it's happened i dont seem to be able to feel the excitment and emotion i thought i would - i think it is because several close friends have had miscarriages recently and so i am trying not to feel anything until i get the all clear at the first scan - its kind of putting a bit of a dampener on what should be such an exciting time

seasister · 18/04/2010 14:12

Hello

Just to add that I'm due in December too, all things being well. Mid December.

I've only just hit week 6 and today I feel absolutely wiped out - as if I could lie down and sleep - and I've been queasy/nauseous all day. It feels too early to being feeling like this, but it seems like others are feeling it too?

Good luck to you all

x Jo

LLKH · 18/04/2010 16:58

One more December due date here. In fact, it looks to be twentysomething December. It's our first and we're both very excited and nervous. We'd been intending to start after we got married next month but earlier is welcome. And at least the small one will have his aunt's sympathy for a late December birthday. Hers is 26 December.

Now DHTB had better finish renovating the bathroom...

kisses1973 · 19/04/2010 12:03

VIKS14 - you are due same day as me 5th December 2010 and really can't wait.

Got midwife tomorrow and going to get her to send me for an early scan to put my mind at rest.

Hope everyone is doing ok xxx

N2firstbaby · 19/04/2010 15:39

Hello all.

Feels very odd posting this, as like many of you, I am so worried that something might still go wrong I can't quite let myself feel excited yet.

1st preg. DD 16 Dec. Feeling fine but just tired all the time - which is very unlike me. Is anyone else finding it hard to rest and take it easy, when that's out of character? Hard to find reasons for it with friends and at work, and far too early to tell people.

How easy is it to arrange an 8wk scan? Have any 2nd time mum's done this before and does it put your mind at rest?

Also - how on earth do you decide which hospital?! I have been offered Barnet, General, Whittington, Royal Free or UHC. I've looked at a few threads and all seem to have + & -'s (as you'd expect). Going to look at some this weekend, but no idea what sort of birth I want, other than a quick one leading to a healthy baby...!!
x

viks14 · 19/04/2010 17:27

It's all a bit surreal really, we were only trying for a month and didn't expect it to happen so quick!

I am not at the midwife until the end of the month....wish it was sooner.

It's all really exciting but scary too...

I hope you get your early scan - I didn't know you could do that.

snozzcumber · 19/04/2010 17:54

viks14 - I've heard you can, but not sure how - if it has to be for a medical reason? Can anyone help us ignorant innocent first-timers on the pro's and con's of an 8wk scan and how you go about getting one?

Nix1972 · 19/04/2010 19:14

Hi Littlecedar and all,

just joined mumsnet and my EDD is 3rd Dec too!
I'm 37 and this is my first - we're so excited!

looking forward to chatting to you allx

camerafairy · 19/04/2010 19:30

Hi!

Just joined.. I found out I was pregnant last week which was a shock as it wasn't planned! Although I tried, I couldn't get a GP appt for a week which is now tomorrow.

I think I am due either end Nov or early Dec but need to speak to doc to find out for sure, I am a bit of a scatterbrain and don't know when my last period was!

I don't feel any different, other than being very tired.. but I know all that can change!

jstock · 19/04/2010 21:09

Hi all, congratulations!!!
This is my second pregnancy after having my son last May. My due date is 2nd of December and I'm very excited and a little nervous.
I raise a glass of lemonade ( possibly a craving!) to us all

TheChangeSpiral · 20/04/2010 09:08

Hello newcomers: come and join us all over on the ante-natal December 2010 babies thread:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/934775-December-2010-any-one-Come-keep-me-company

crazykat · 20/04/2010 10:10

As far as I know early scans are only done if there is a medical reason unless you pay for a private one.

First scans (dating scans) are usually done around 10-14 weeks which is when you get a firmer idea of when you're due.

It does depend on what area you're in as to when scans are done and of you can get an early one.

kisses1973 · 20/04/2010 16:11

CRAZYCAT

If you've had a miscarriage before and want to request an early scan you can do that i've requested one today when i saw my midwife so thats what I will be having, I'm not going private and don't have to pay for it.

If you are concerned and you have a good midwife they'll arrange an early one for you.

My midwife appointment was brilliant doing everything i'm supposed to be and weight, blood pressure etc are absolutely fine.

All good very very excited.
