Hi everyone...I'm new to Mumsnet and this is my first thread...very exciting!

I tested positive on Monday and think I am due on 3rd December 2010. I don't think anyone has started a December thread yet, so I thought I would get the ball rolling. Sorry if it's already on here somewhere!

This is my first pregnancy and I am so happy! I am trying not to dwell too much on what could go wrong (it's early days) and instead am focusing on how amazing, new and wonderful this feels!

I am still trying to work out what all the BFPs, POAS and the like mean...but I'm having fun trying!

Would be great to hear from you all. x

Hmm, have seen GP who has sent a re-referral to my cardiologist, but hasn't mentioned anything about scans and that. The midwife seems to pop in and out of the local hospital, but there's no maternity bit, I have to go to a larger hospital in another town. Confusing!

Who have you told so far?

3babesfull · 09/04/2010 17:24

Hi. DC4 Due 6th Dec (although all been late!). Still rather shell shocked so will write more when I get my head around it!

Kittykatzen · 09/04/2010 18:13

Hello all! I'm also due in December, EDD 3/12/10 by my reckoning, 6+0 today. It's my first pregnancy - we only got married on 27th Feb and decided to try on honeymoon and here we are! Five Clearblues can't be wrong... I have been feeling hideously sick, waking up at 4am the last couple of days, and for the last few weeks have been more tired than I have ever been in my life. My worry is that old chestnut, a little knowledge is a terrible thing - I'm a paediatrician and can't stop panicking about all the things I know can go wrong! It doesn't help that I go to work and see nothing but babies who have had difficult starts to life! It feels good though to know that other people are just as scared as me... I am just counting the days till my first scan (I caved and booked a private ultrasound at 7+5) and I can make sure there really is a baby in there!

Funloving · 09/04/2010 18:21

Biscuitbreaker - It is confusing. I wouldn't have thought they'd definitely need to scan you before 12 weeks because of your heart complaint, so that might be why you haven't particularly heard about scans etc ... but i am straying into specialist territory so feel free to ignore me!

We've told close family and friends... we really can't keep secrets, and would want them to know if anything horrible happened anyway. But everyone's different eh? x

springbokdoc · 09/04/2010 18:51

Relieved to hear others are having the same symptoms as me - I think hubbie thinks it's in my head! Am getting more used to the slight travel sickness feeling in the evening and the wake ups at 4 am - although think that might be just me wondering if i'm far too immature to have a baby!!

For the other docs on here - when do you think it's okay to let your work know? Am slightly panicking at the thought of telling them. Is it terrible to wait as late as possible?

crazykat · 09/04/2010 19:36

does anyone have any remedies for morning sickness, i've tried crackers and ginger biscuits but they just seem to make it worse.

Cozie · 09/04/2010 19:38

CONGRATULATIONS and welcome on board.

Im now nearly 6 weeks, due the 6th December.

No other syptoms other than being completley exhausted.

Have treated myself to a duck feather duvet and pillows today and already in bed. I have seriously never thought it was possible to be this exhasted.

How is everyone else getting on?

Kittykatzen · 09/04/2010 20:40

Springbokdoc - I am definitely not planning to tell anyone at work yet. It's just too gossipy an environment and if it gets out then everyone will know! I am going to tell my educational supervisor at 12 weeks I think, sooner only if I have any complications. I am in my current post until September and if all goes well would like to work for as long as possible. As a registrar coming into the last year of my rotation I also don't want any decision made regarding where I should go for my final placement to be affected by the fact that I am pregnant. Paeds is a pretty good specialty to be in though - seeing as the majority of us are female! Definitely anxious about doing nights and the number of 13 hour shifts I have in my rota - I am already knackered!

Wholelottalove · 09/04/2010 20:43

Hello, got my bfp this morning, by MN calculator will be due 18th December, so if it's late could end up with Christmas one!

I'm 29 and this will be my second. Already feeling knackered but got sore throat/cold as well which isn't helping.

So excited, dying to tell everyone but it also feels a bit unreal too.

HarleyQuinn · 10/04/2010 00:25

Hey, may I join

just tested, (about 4-5 weeks) so I am not too sure of actual due date, but perhaps early december.

I'm 25 and this will be my second, very excited!

Cozie · 10/04/2010 08:31

Wholelottalove. It is fantastic to see you here !!! Congratulations !!!!

kisses1973 · 10/04/2010 13:21

shadowpuss · 10/04/2010 13:44

Hi All, I tested positive a week ago. About 5 weeks I think, due 15/12. It's my first and I'm so excited! I've never been so tired in my life though. Congratulations to all other December ladies! It's good to find people who are going through the same thing as me so I can actually talk about it with someone - we've decided not to tell anyone until after the first scan. I can't wait for that, but it seems so far away, every day is just dragging.

Wholelottalove · 10/04/2010 19:27

Hi Cozie

Shadowpuss - I know the feeling, it is really tiring. I'm finding it hard to keep to myself and have told my Mum already.

Ollers · 11/04/2010 07:47

I have been awake and up at 5am every morning this week - and it's school holidays (I'm a teacher). Not fair!

Any ideas what to do at my brother's wedding next week. It's 4 days (and nights) away with family and friends and I won't be drinking. I will tell my mum but really don't want everyone else to know or to keep asking why I'm not drinking. Bad enough last night when friend of DP asked in the pub if I was 'in the family way'.
Any ideas?

Ollers, I know exactly how you feel. We were at a family party last night and as I wasn't drinking or having coffee (a pretty major thing for the world's biggest caffeine addict) everyone kept asking what was wrong with me. I just kept saying i had a bit of a cold. Don't know if they believed me. It would be so much easier if we just told everyone, but really want to wait until the scan. If you're away for a few days you could say your on antibiotics for something and can't have alcohol. Good luck

igosentriq · 11/04/2010 12:38

I'm in! Due on the 16th and nervous about December already....

crazykat · 11/04/2010 15:28

tell me about it igosnetriq, i'm dreading christmas shopping, n i've already told dh that unless we go to his or my parents it'll be pizza for christmas dinner

comtessa · 11/04/2010 16:00

Hi Cozie, I'm due 6th December too. It feels such a long way off, but I'm sure the time will fly. Just looking forward to the second trimester when, according to my Miriam Stoppard book, I'll be glowing and feeling a bit raunchy. (My DH is looking forward to that too.)

I'm 29 and this will be my first.

Am treating myself to all kinds of ginger snack to ease nausea, luckily I like ginger but I can see myself going off it after many more weeks of sickness. Good idea on the feather pillows and duvet - best to be comfy!
My mum wants to treat me to something so will ask her to take me shoe shopping for some flat, comfy shoes for work.

Hope you're all coping with the sickness - I was lying in bed groaning all morning myself. Sigh.

comtessa · 11/04/2010 16:04

Ollers, could you just say that you've been unwell and the dr recommended cutting out alcohol? Alcohol is a known trigger for stomach problems.

Alternatively, let someone pour you a half glass of wine at the table, hold it occasionally, but don't actually drink. After the dinner, you can be on soft drinks and people won't notice as an OJ could easily be a vodka and OJ.

Alternatively! Designated driver?

Good luck! I had to get through my own birthday party two weeks ago without telling anyone!

comtessa · 11/04/2010 16:07

Sorry, another posting - just been catching up on everyone else's posts!

lovetocookitalian Me too with the boobs! I saw a female client for an appointment at work on Friday - she'd last seen me on the Tuesday or Thursday. She just looked at my chest for a few moments and then said: "You're bigger."
Nothing like being direct about it! Happy my clients feel so at home with me...

Right, going to get some housework now I can actually stand up without feeling sick.

xx

Biscuitbreaker · 11/04/2010 16:25

Me also - bonjour boobies! I am seeing a very observant mate tomorrow and am dreading her guessing...

Wholelottalove · 11/04/2010 19:28

Well, SIL guessed immediately on seeing me yesterday apparently, boobs definitely bigger. I know you pop out quicker with your second so I have no idea how I will keep it quiet at work.

comtessa - luckily sickness hasn't kicked in yet for me in any major way. I got to the point with DD where I couldn't stand the sight of another ginger biscuit! Don't overdo it with the housework - you've got an excuse to take it easy

yellowflowers · 12/04/2010 12:44

Hi all,

Am slightly anxious because my symptoms seem to have disappeared today. My doc wants me to have a seven week scan though as I have higher risk of miscarriage - pcos and high bmi. Guess it'll be good to have that in two weeks time.

Great to have a gp on this thread funloving. Hope we don't ask you too many questions.
