Hi everyone...I'm new to Mumsnet and this is my first thread...very exciting!

I tested positive on Monday and think I am due on 3rd December 2010. I don't think anyone has started a December thread yet, so I thought I would get the ball rolling. Sorry if it's already on here somewhere!

This is my first pregnancy and I am so happy! I am trying not to dwell too much on what could go wrong (it's early days) and instead am focusing on how amazing, new and wonderful this feels!

I am still trying to work out what all the BFPs, POAS and the like mean...but I'm having fun trying!

Would be great to hear from you all. x

Oh you poor thing Kisses1973. My partner is also not ecstatic. We have been together 9 years and all along I have said I wanted a baby when I was in my early 30s and he said he didn't want children. But he did once say that he would want to have kids with me. That one sentence has stuck in my mind but perhaps not in his. We talked about it before Christmas and he knows that it means so much to me and that I came off the pill then too. Now that we have found out he is apologising for not being excited with me. He says he will support me but he's worried too. I think he's really nervous and is afraid of life changing. For me I can't wait for life to change. It would be nice to be able to share the excitement with someone else too though.

Ollers · 08/04/2010 15:54

I also wish I had more symptoms apart from a fluttering tummy - which I think is excitement. I have got a bit of brown discharge almost every day for the last 3. Is that normal? It's not heavy but it is making me confused. Can't see doc for another week.

Hi yellowflowers, i remember you from 2 years ago you were getting married. A huge congratulations
And congratulations to everyone else

I tested positive last week, this will be DC4 due date 5th December roughly. We relocated to the US last year so now have to work out the system over here. Have my first appt with ob/gyn on April 28th. I'm nervous about giving birth here.

smithylovesme · 08/04/2010 16:18

hi Kisses - just read all the former posts - how horrid for you. Are you okay? Silly question because answer is probably no. Question is do you want your relationship or a baby more? If you are sure it's the baby (and of course relationships end) then you know what you have to do. Also though it may just be fear from your dp because he knows how babies are made and he knew you went off the pill so, er, duh!

Hi Smithy - that is a good memory. We start trying before we got married though once we got married we started temping and sleeping togetehr at the right time etc. It has been a long haul!

My main worry at the moment is every time I go to the loo I expect to see blood. And I feel nauseous some of the time and that is horrid but then I don't some of the time and that makes me worry it is not working.

Poppystar1 · 08/04/2010 18:11

Hi,
I'm due Nov 30th, but seeing as how this is my first I don't expect to be on time! I'm 41 and have been trying to conceive since we got married last July. Couldn't believe it when I saw the blue cross, we were so happy. My husband already has 2 daughters from his previous marriage but it's all new to me. Am so excited but also worried because of my age - I've done another test since and am thinking of doing one again, as I don't seem to have any symptoms apart from sore (and bigger) boobs.
Also, have been to my GP who just told me about folic acid and what not to eat, and said she would refer me to the hospital but have heard nothing since. Is that normal?

Hope I don't sound too paranoid - I am usually a positive person, honest!

springbokdoc · 08/04/2010 19:50

Hi

Due 12/12/10! My first - am exceedingly excited and having to stop myself telling everyone at work!

Are others also feeling a bit nauseous? I thought it was a little early? I'm not actually registered with a GP so will have to wait for that. Might be a stupid question but do they double check you're pregnant with a blood test? I feel like I should know more about how this works!!

Am desperate for a bump to now appear

Biscuitbreaker · 08/04/2010 20:27

ToriMarguerite - I admire your patience. I would NEED to know! Ha ha. But you're right it would influence you one way or the other.

Hope everyone is feeling well and happy!

Hi Yellowflowers

I have told him not to ask me to choose between him or the baby because he will lose everytime.

I have mentally prepared myself for going it alone and I have some very good friends and of course all you guys here.

I'm very happy and excited and can't wait until December when I meet my little one.

Going to bed now am absolutely shattered and have a doctors appointment at 9am in the morning.

Night night everyone and take care of those bumps xxxx

fayesinden · 08/04/2010 21:18

Hi all, I tested positive last week.. and i haven't been able to keep it quiet at all! ...... 2nd time for me but just as excited even though exhausted running after No.l daughter! Just taking each day as it comes and trying not to get too excited till a bit later on....

Bushous · 08/04/2010 22:51

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to say to those first timers with hardly any pregnancy symptoms... Dont worry!
I didnt have any sickness at all with my first. So far none with this one either. Not everyone gets sick when they are pregnant, so dont worry, think yourself lucky! Also rememeber its early days it may change yet.

Rapunzel88 · 09/04/2010 07:44

Hi all,

Can I join in? I'm due on 2nd Dec with No 2. Glad there are so many of us around. We've been trying for about 8 months, so quite relieved that it's finally happened.
Have been feeling a bit queasy in the mornings, but the old cream cracker by the bed trick seems to be working.
Am turning 36 by the time this one is born, does that make me a geriatric mother?! Someone told me that is actually the term used on your notes if you are 35+. God, that's depressing....

Hi Springbokdoc - I am feeling a bit sick when I am hungry and also I have gone off food - as in even when I am a bit hungry there's nothing in particular I fancy. I felt really ropey this morning and gagged when I brushed my teeth.

lovetocookitalian · 09/04/2010 12:19

Hi Everyone

Can I join? I tested positive a week ago - due 15th December. This is my first pregnancy and I'm so nervous things will go wrong! Everything is very new and not quite what I expected. I feel quite tired and have sore breasts, a bit of morning sickness already, and I have to go the loo about once an hour. Is all this normal?? I still have to wait another week to see my GP.
KJ

crazykat · 09/04/2010 13:26

i've had exactly the same symptoms with my first two but without the morning sickness - i'm more than making up for it this time round.

PB31 · 09/04/2010 14:15

Hi everyone and congratulations!

This is my first pregnancy and first post too. I am due on 4 December or there abouts so coming up to 6 weeks on Sunday.

I've just read through this thread and it is so reassuring to find others are having the same fears and confusions that I am! We've decided not to tell anyone until the first scan.

So far I have been increasingly knackered and queasy and my boobs have started to get a bit tender this week. I too keep going to the loo every hour and am paranoid at finding blood. None so far thank goodness.

Saw the doctor this week who said she would refer me to the hospital/midwife. We are due to go to Greece for two weeks on the day I will be 12 weeks (booked to keep our minds of TTC) so I am really hoping we can get that first scan in before then. Flying is ok right?! I kind of know it is but the timing is scaring me. This whole thing makes me excited and irrational!

Hope all of you are well.

giddywithglee · 09/04/2010 14:24

Hi all, finally pregnant after 3 years of trying and mc in Oct - EDD 12 Dec

Funloving · 09/04/2010 14:37

Hi everyone, yes there are loads of us! There must have been fertile vibes around in the month of march.

Re getting first scan, just a little tip... I'm a GP, and in a lot of maternity units (but not all) they can use a system called 'choose and book'... where the GP generates an appointment for the patient, and then they ring up and get the appointment when it's convenient. And if you do this, you can actually get your 12 week scan as early as 10 weeks! So ask your GP to do it this way if they can.

I'm feeling queasy at times too, and have been getting through a lot of gerkins, but i think it might all be in my head! 5 weeks today! yay! x

Violet5 · 09/04/2010 14:41

Found out yesterday and due to have number 6 (definately the last), on Dec 14th, all being well

Biscuitbreaker · 09/04/2010 16:22

Funloving... great tip. As I have heart problems I have been told I will need lots of monitoring, so am hoping to get scanned asap! So what do I ask for - a "choose and book" appointment? And who do I ask, GP or Midwife?

I need to tell more people. I can't keep this to myself. 5+1 eek! x

Funloving · 09/04/2010 16:59

Hi biscuit (can I call you that for short?!) It'll probably be different for you - I would see your GP ASAP and they'll be able to refer you to the antenatal clinic who will probably want to see you early to make sure you're in tip-top condition. Your GP will probably just fax a letter off, so wouldn't be choose and book, although some obstetric units only take appointments that way.... honestly it's all very confusing!

I know, I can't keep it to myself. Although it's obvious anyway to anyone who knows me because I've stopped drinking tea and wine. x
