October 2010 babies?

1001 replies

Hi, I am a first-timer Mum to Be and Baby has been given a due date of 1 October. Very early dates still, so nervous and excited I cannot think about anything else! Planning not to tell family and friends till the first three months are over, but it's going to be tough!
Anyone else expecting an October baby out there?

Jacksmybaby good luck tomorrow, am very grateful Friday is my non working day although toddler entertainment is prob harder work!
How do you commute? Having tried it today I reckon i would be safer driving after 5 pints than i feel on these pills!!!!

Jacksmybaby · 07/05/2010 15:28

Well work today was a disaster, arrived sweating, shaking, and having thrown up twice on the way in, bumped into boss at the door and promptly burst into tears when she asked how I was ! But have now been told I can work from home next week if I'm up to it, since am not too bad when I stay at home, it's the travelling (1h15m commute on train and tube!) that is bad.
Back at home now attempting to get some work done.
Hope everyone else is having a nice Friday. x

Hevster · 07/05/2010 16:11

Jacksmybaby you poor thing what a horrible day you've had there is no way i could do train and tube either. If working from home is allowed then sounds like a plan to me. Hope you have a good weekend to make up for it

MummyBeth · 07/05/2010 17:59

Oh dear Jacks that sounds terrible - maybe a good thing you bumped into your boss when you were looking and feeling miserable - she'll believe you that way.

Hope working from home is better - but don't overdo it.

Off to a hen do this weekend - glad I'm well past the 12 week mark and visably preggers so I don't have to think of reason why I'm not drinking and want to go home early.

Hope you all have something nice planned this weekend - even if that's just a night in, takeaway food and a cuddle with the hubby - think I've just described my idea night there!

xxxxxxxx

Jacksmybaby · 07/05/2010 19:23

Anythingwithgiraffeonit (I love your alias name!) - congratulations! I am expecting a girl too but trying not to go too heavy on the pink : ) Proving difficult! Spent two days grinning like a manic politician (non-stop), so I know how you feel!!
Hevster & Jacks - hope you feel better soon.

day 2 of being at home and feel so much better on the sickness front, hope you are all well and had a good Monday, getting impatient for 20 week scan and got to wait another 2 weeks for it!

Jacksmybaby · 11/05/2010 09:12

Morning everyone. Welcome Zotas. anythingwithagiraffe that's great news.
Feeling quite a bit better too, although hard day yest as DS is being a little bugger bit challenging at the moment, I think jealousy over mummy's new baby is already manifesting itself!

RooBear · 11/05/2010 09:55

Hi everyone. Welcome Zotas, congrats anythingwithagiraffe had my midwife appointment yesterday and was looking forward to hearing the heartbeat as loads of people have said they did on the 16wk appt, but they just took my blood pressure went though my notes then said they'd see me in july! its my first baby so i don't know if I got it wrong but I was really hoping to hear the heartbeat as i don't have a lot of symptoms and can't feel any movement yet. never mind, hope you all have a good day

Jacksmybaby · 11/05/2010 10:05

Hi RooBear. Apparently in some areas MWs have a policy of not listening for the heartbeat until later on, since it's a bit hit and miss whether they will find it or not in the earlier stages and it can freak women out unnecessarily if they try to find it and can't. Also don't worry about not feeling any movement yet, I didn't until about 19/20 wks first time round which I think is v. normal.

Hevster · 11/05/2010 10:54

worry not RooBear took midwife ages to find my beans heartbeat and she was getting worried! didn't feel any movement till nearly 24 weeks with first one and had naff all preg symptons last time (if only no 2 was the same!)

thought i would would start potty training DD yesterday - not a success, 2 hours 1 poo and 2 wees and a very proud toddler telling all and sundry "i wee wee on the floor" happy days!
Jacks glad you are feeling better

Jacksmybaby · 11/05/2010 11:17

You too Hevster. Ahh, potty training, happy memories . Good luck and I hope it improves. My advice, FWIW, is not to keep going if after a few days you are absolutely not getting anywhere and it is turning into a complete battle. (DS completely resisted all attempts to train him. He literally did it by himself when HE decided HE was ready. But that is DS for you. .)

piesey · 11/05/2010 11:17

Morning everyone

Haven't been around for a while - I've been working hard. Ahem.

Got my midwife appointment on Thursday - really hoping to hear the heartbeat but I know I many not. It's a weird time as I can't feel anything yet so still don't 'feel pregnant' exactly. I'm 15+6 today.

Hope you are all ok and welcome to the new members!

RooBear · 11/05/2010 12:50

I wish it was that girls (they just couldn't hear anything) but what i meant was they didn't even mention it so I didn't have it done. I think maybe its because I come from a rural area and the midwife shares her office with the chiropodist! so maybe she doesn't have the equipment? x

Raahh · 11/05/2010 12:57

I have just found out I am having a girl (dc3), and was SO convinced we were having a boy (have one of each already).
Is very exciting, and feels more real now. Only prob is we only had one name in mind -and that's a boys- can't agree on any girls! Good luck to everyone xx

Hevster · 11/05/2010 13:14

Raahh excellent news, seems to be all girls at the moment
RooBear guess they either don't do it that early or she forgot - bit crappy for you not to say though.

currently forcing myself to eat lunch which is a strange one for me coz last preg i loved my food (too much)!

bonbon77 · 11/05/2010 13:39

Hi, I am new to MN and to this thread - only 6 weeks pregnant with my first. Not ill (yet) but one of my friends who is 9 weeks can hardly get out bed she is no nauseous. I am told that this might mean I am carrying a boy, she a girl. Is this rubbish or statistically proven? I so much want to find out the gender of my baby asap but my husband thinks it is the same as opening xmas presents early and refuses to know! (I married the stubborn one ...) It will be impossible for me to keep it a secret from him if the whole point of knowing is to start calling the baby by its (girl's) name. Any advise??

Katy86 · 11/05/2010 13:52

i started a new thread as this one is full

RooBear · 11/05/2010 13:53

welcome bonbon wouldn't read too much into superstition, there is so many wives tale out there, fun to keep guessing though! we aren't finding out the sex I think you can only find out from 15 weeks onwards though x
