October 2010 babies?

Hi, I am a first-timer Mum to Be and Baby has been given a due date of 1 October. Very early dates still, so nervous and excited I cannot think about anything else! Planning not to tell family and friends till the first three months are over, but it's going to be tough!
Anyone else expecting an October baby out there?

Happy happy happy! Midwife found the baby's location (under navel), repeated blood tests while we chatted and then we listened to the heartbeat together. Good rate. How wonderful. Really looking forward to the scan next week. Have now told family and friends, all delighted : ) Can't wait for late Sept/ 1 Oct!! Sending good vibes to everyone.

Hello everyone, I haven't posted for a long time. I'm actually an interloper as at my 12 week scan they revised my EDD to 26 Sep, so not Oct at all. So now 18+4. But v.little by way of bump - which have been worrying about over the last few weeks, expected to have a proper bump by now! It does get bigger throughout the day, but in the morning it still just looks like a normal tummy (perhaps a post-Christmas, eaten a bit more than usual one!). Anyone else thinking their bump doesn't actually exist this late? Have googled lots though, and seems there are loads of people out there saying 'i didn't show until 24 weeks...' or whatever, so assume is okay.

I think I have felt movement though in last couple of weeks - feels a bit like a nerve twitching inside my belly, so hard to say for sure, but I reckon it is. Can't wait for next scan in 3 weeks to check all okay!

DomesticG0ddess · 29/04/2010 12:10

Hello everyone, I am due 22/10, 15 weeks tomorrow! I have a definite bump and am going through a bit of a hormonal phase, eg I can't find house keys, so I cry. Or I drop a bowl of something on the floor, so I cry some more. Oh, and I have weird coccyx pain which I am going to see an osteopath about this afternoon. Other than that, I am fine!
I have one DS, aged 3.

Jacksmybaby · 29/04/2010 13:10

Afternoon ladies .

Hevster you need to be referred to a consultant who will make the decision re ELCS (MummyBeth: elective c section) so get your GP to do this. Did you have CS last time or other complications / intervention in which case GP should refer you no problem.

FutureMum glad u heard heartbeat, it's amazing isn't it?

Dixiebell people have wildly differing experiences of how early/late on they develop a bump and what size and shape it is. I am still (at 16+0) in the "looking pg to those that know me; looking tubby to strangers" phase! Tummy seems to have actually shrunk again in last few weeks due to worsening N&V wwhich is a bit disconcerting.

Hello to DomesticGOddess and anyone else I've missed out!

Daynee · 29/04/2010 13:40

Hi Ladies! Glad to see everyone is doing well. Futuremom - Awesome news on your check-up!

I have one today...I am 16+5, and I hope there's a good heartbeat and fundal height!

Anyone else dying to know what the sex is???

Dixie - Don't worry about the bump. Weird - sometimes I'm big, and other times (mostly in mornings), I just look a little bloated, like I'm PMSing! Be thankful - maybe this way, you won't gain too much weight.

Jacksmybaby · 29/04/2010 13:51

Ooh yes, Daynee, I have 20 week scan in 4 weeks, can't wait to find out what we're having!

babybunting2010 · 29/04/2010 14:41

Hi all,

Having a really busy day at work today!!!! so haven't checked!

Ummm... Daynee what does fundal height mean?

I haven't heard the heartbeat yet can't wait!!! Does this make it feel any more real??? Still feeling very surreal!

I am sooooo tired today, not sure if this is even making sense to be honest with you!

xx

Hevster · 29/04/2010 16:31

oooooh thread getting busy again, here goes - mummybeth am balooning like you and getting a bit used to it, bit annoyed about sweatshirts that now look ridiculous when worn though. Glad scan went ok, they didn't measure the head when we had ours but i have photographic evidence that there was a head so presume all well!
futuremum glad midwife apt went well
dixie think loads of people have late bumps, you'll probably wake up 1 morning and go what the k when it appears
DomestigG0ddess my hormones make me pissy rather than tearful so you are prob nicer to live with than me! Hope Osteopth can help this arvo.
Jacksmybaby bad delivery last time, in short 3 days of unestablished labour in and out of hosp, then induced as waters broken, labour still really slow, 15 hours later rushed to theatre for EMCS but DD pulled out with forceps before EMCS(not nice). other issue is am so crap at being preg that i get this chronic tiredness and they didn't take it into account as midwife dismissed it and wouldn't put it in my notes last time so had no energy to even try and give birth anyway. Am confident GP will back me as she is only person i see who believes in my tiredness and bends over backwards to help me. Sorry N+V worse again - same here, depressing innit!
Daynee am keen to find out sex too, hope apt goes well
babybunting hearing heartbeat is well weird, makes it real and is really nice but also makes you think - f there is something growing in my belly and thats a bit freaky.
hope i haven't missed anyone and you've all had a good day

Daynee · 29/04/2010 16:33

Hi baby - So tired too. My alarm went off at 5am and I was like, "Uh...really? Blah.

Fundal height is when they measure from the pubic bone to the top of your uterus. I heard they do this at check-ups in between ultrasounds, but never had one done...

Jacksmybaby · 29/04/2010 18:17

Daynee I don't remember having fundal height checks until much later on, last time round - but I IIRC you are in the U.S? So maybe they do things differently there.

MummyBeth · 29/04/2010 19:42

tired, sore head, sore back - foul temper....off to bed with crisps chocolate and a cup of tea. Grump grump grump.

Jacksmybaby · 29/04/2010 19:56

Oh no! Get a good rest MummyBeth, hope u feel better in the morning.

RooBear · 29/04/2010 20:04

hey guys I'm still around! just been busy on the other oct thread, how is everyone? I've got a little bump now, but apart from that nothing! can't wait for my next scan to make sure there's something in there! -oh and I've put a photo on my profile so you can put a face to the name!

MummyBeth · 30/04/2010 11:14

Thanks Jacks Feeling better this morning but may have something to do with the long weekend!

I have a rash on my stomach that is concerning me a bit - it's not itchy - or any more itchy than my belly has been lately! Might give the midwife a call this afternoon - I have no chance of seeing a GP today but she might be able to advise - I'm guessing calamine lotion.

Have a great weekend everyone hope we get some nice weather for it - been a bit iffy up here!

xxx

TizzyNo1 · 30/04/2010 12:39

Hi, I'm new to this but due in Oct so hope it's OK if I join!?

Had nuchal scan and tests at 13 weeks recently (am now 16 weeks + 3 days) and risk was low (1:756) but nasal bone absent (well, doctor said she could see it but not that clearly so would record as absent to give us the worse case scenario!). Has anyone else had this? I've got another scan at 18 weeks to see if it's clearer - should it be much better developed by then?

Thanks!

Jacksmybaby · 30/04/2010 12:45

Glad u r a bit better MummyB. Nice to see yr photos RooBear! MummyB, pharmacist might be able to give u some advice re rash if you can't get hold of MW or get a GP's apptmt.

Am feeling feeling like s**t today. Have been to GP for the N&V and have been switched from phenergan to cyclizine (which I was on last pg and which was a lot more effective) so fingers crossed will start to feel better soon. At least am now being taken seriously - today was first time (this pg) that anyone has officially labelled the N&V as hyperemesis (she wrote it on note to sign me off work) so in a strange way feeling better to have been given that diagnosis rather that being brushed off with the usual "it's just MS" line, IYSWIM.

On a brighter note, think I felt some more flutterings from "Bean" last night - had felt some at 14wks, or thought I did, but nothing since then til last night. So that was v. cool.

Hevster, have u seen GP yet re consultant referral? Let us know how it goes. Oh and keep us posted on the N&V situation, nice to be in touch with a fellow puker!

Hevster · 30/04/2010 12:47

Hi Tizzy, welcome to the thread and of course you can join us, no expereince of the nasal bone and risks etc but am sure someone will, you might get a quicker response if you start a thread asking?

MummyBeth hope someone can sort your rash, calamine lotion would be my only suggestion as well

Jacksmybaby · 30/04/2010 12:50

Hi Tizzy x-posts with u, was not ignoring you in last post! Hello, welcome etc .

Have no experience with nasal thing but sounds hopeful if doc said could see it, just not clearly??

TizzyNo1 · 30/04/2010 13:04

Hi Hevster and Jacksmybaby,

Wow! Fast responses and feel welcome already! Just did a search on nasal bone on all threads and found a bit of info, always hopeful for more though! I'm hopping exactly that - that it just wasn't clear. Baby was leaping like a good-un througout scan so hopefully will see more clearly in a couple of weeks...!

Hevster · 30/04/2010 13:28

Hey jacksmybaby join the cyclizine club, glad they have labeled you as HG now and you don't have to work, i have had 5 weeks signed off and been back doing 3 hrs a day for 3 weeks but it makes me so much worse that I think i will give up fighting again and take the sick note.
Seeing GP next fri so will mention ELCS then.
feel very relieved that your puking hasn't gone yet, was starting to feel freaky that at 16.6 I was if anything worse!

Hope you are all having a good day

Daynee · 30/04/2010 13:45

Hey ladies. Welcome Tizzy!

My check-up went well. Heard the heartbeat, and fundal height where it should be - almost to my belly button! The only problem was that I gained 6 pounds since the last visit 4 weeks ago . The nurse was like, "Cut down on that icecream" but the doctor said I was fine, since I'm think anyway. GEEZ, at this rate, I'll be 50 pounds heavier by the time this baby comes out!

Hope you're all having a great day .

Jacksmybaby · 30/04/2010 16:47

Glad checks all well, Daynee and don't worry about 6lb - you'll probably find it evens itself out later on and you'll slow down with the weight gain.

Glad my puking makes you feel better, Hevster!

Try not to worry Tizzy there's nothing you can do til the next scan and excessive googling will drive you mad!

Can you tell by the frequency of my postings that I'm off work and bored and miserable at home?

missnicely · 01/05/2010 17:37

Oh dear Jacksmybaby what I would do to be off work! But I appreciate that if you don';t want to be off work then it can be dull and boring!

I am 16 wks and can't say i feel any of this fluttering/movement thing, I just look tubby to people who don't know i am pg and also I don't have any cravings.... does that make me pg or should I start to worry?
Got 2nd mw appt on 10may so will prob hang on a few weeks, maybe one day I will wake up and think oh lordy what has grown in the night!

Glad you all keeping well, google should have a questionnaire on it so that if you panic then it should only show up certain info or websites! Would save a lot of heartache!

Enjoy the sunshine!

MummyBeth · 03/05/2010 09:44

Hey Ladies,

Sorry to those of you who are still feeling ill - but glad you have (finally) been given the diagnosis and help you need. My friend is having twins and was so sick she couldn't keep the anti-sickness pills down and ended up in hospital or nearly a week due to dehydration. She's all sorted now and back to work so hopefully there's light at the end of the tunnel for you too!

Was out for lunch with friends yesterday and I was the only one who ordered desert (the others just ordered another glass of vino!) and the waitress patted me onthe shoulder and and said "it's all right love you have an excuse" - Guess I'm starting to look preggers to strangers now!!

Have a nice bank holiday!
xxx

Hevster · 03/05/2010 17:58

MummyBeth - oh to be able to order a glass of wine, roll on October....

Jacksmybaby did your sickness last throughout your last pregnancy? I didn't have it with Daisy at all but am getting worried that mine is going to last the full 40 weeks (horrified face)

Hope you have all had a good long weekend
