October 2010 babies?

1001 replies

FutureMum · 29/01/2010 08:54

Hi, I am a first-timer Mum to Be and Baby has been given a due date of 1 October. Very early dates still, so nervous and excited I cannot think about anything else! Planning not to tell family and friends till the first three months are over, but it's going to be tough!
Anyone else expecting an October baby out there?

Hi ladies - Sounds like everyone is lovely.
Hi Jacks and Amelia

Dilly - Thanks for the advice - I think I might call the doc today. I'm getting all nervous because some of the discharge is watery and I keep reading things about leaking amniotic fluid ...Has anyone had experience with this??

Muffle - Funny story about your students. A few of my 2nd grade girls noticed my little bump...they were like, "Your belly is so big now. Is there a baby in there?" Then I told them and they offered up names and were very excited:>

RooBear · 15/04/2010 13:48

I can see your profile Katy86! feeling good today (was at a funeral yesterday for Sjt Campbell so was a bit down). Is anyone else worried about money?? I'm worried that I'll be on maternity pay for 6 months which is less than half of my months normal pay. Also childcare? might have a great solution-MIL who lives next door has fri and mon off every week and has offered her services, so we'd only have to fork out £90 a week which is great! (nursery is £30 a day) my work colleauges say that I'll have to draw a contract with her and pay her?? I know she won't accept money off us and we get on so well, hence why she lives next door, that I don't see the need? what do wou guys think??

(sorry for the ramble)

MummyBeth · 15/04/2010 14:43

Hi RooBear I remember there being stuff in the news about childcare arrangements - as two ladies who worked on alternate days were taking each others children to save on childcare however this meant that technically they were receiving payment for a service i.e. childcare in payment for childcare. As such it was deemed taxable and they hadn't been paying tax. However, I believe that there is an exemption regarding close family members including the grandparents. So I don't think contracts and payment are necessary.

I'm a childminder myself so won't have this issue but my little one will be taking up one of my spaces but I'm super glad to be able to stay at home and still earn a bit of 'fun money' as DH calls it!

Met midwife today - was good, blood pressure a little low but nothing to worry about - have a headache today which started yesterday evening!

Wow that was a biggie! - Hope you're all well xxx

nunnie · 15/04/2010 14:48

I have my scan on monday so then I might feel part of a due in group, at the moment I am stuck between two and I don't like it, it is splitting me in two

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 15/04/2010 15:12

Katy86 I'm thinking Harry for a boy and Tilly for a girl...

How about you?

nunnie · 15/04/2010 15:19

I am over sensitive today, wanting to fight about everything (good job it's on computer really, I don't carry black eyes off very well). I seem to take everything to heart. And I cry at anything .
Anyone else feeling like this?

NoTeaForMe · 15/04/2010 15:21

Hello all,

Is it OK if I join you here? I am 14 weeks pregnant now and due October 14th with my first baby!

I have a bit of a bump already which definitely gets bigger by the end of the day! So far all has gone well with me. We had our scan on April 1st and saw the baby wriggling about and saw the heartbeating. Very exciting and very surreal to see a baby moving about inside me but not be able to feel it!!

Hope you are all well!

Jacksmybaby · 15/04/2010 16:03

Hi NoTea, same due date as me!

Roobear, my MIL and mum look after DS between them on my working days. I don't think you need a contract (and I am a lawyer so am generally ultra-cautious in these matters!). The only thing I'd say to watch out for is that you make sure a) your MIL understands you need her commitment to do this e.g. she can't just swan off on holiday last minute and leave you in the lurch; and b) you feel able to set the rules on e.g. what you do and don't want your DC to eat, what television they should be watching etc (obv. more relevant in a couple of years). The above can be tricky to do especially if you are not paying and essentially she is just doing it as a favour. Other than that it's a great arrangement and DS is growing up really close to his 2 grandmothers which is brilliant. I would definitely recommend taking up the opportunity if it's there.

nunnie am definitely hugely over-sensitive!! know just what you mean.

RooBear · 15/04/2010 16:28

by the way girls, I know its been mentioned before but the other Oct 10 thread are wanting to meet us all!

nunnie · 15/04/2010 17:05

What's the oct 10 thread? thought I that was this

nunnie · 15/04/2010 17:08

If you mean antenatal club thingy, I've just posted on there. x

Jacksmybaby · 15/04/2010 17:12

Just found the antenatal club topic with the "other" thread - did not even know it (antenatal topic) existed (damn, even more opportunities for getting distracted on here and getting nothing done all day!).

RooBear · 15/04/2010 17:25

yes its the pumpkin one! writing on both at the mo and trying to keep up with everyone!

RooBear · 15/04/2010 17:26

(the one which says the sun is showing and the pumpkins are growing!) I know a few of us are on both

Hermya321 · 16/04/2010 22:28

Hmmm since lots of you were popping over to say hi to us on the other thread, I thought I would do the same and say hi back.

Currently 12 plus 5 at the moment with no visible bump but with lots of tiredness and general can't be botheredness.

I hope you're all doing well over here!

KFW · 20/04/2010 17:29

Hi ladies!

I didnt think that my bump was visible to anyone except me. I had been assured by girlfriends that it was just because I was used to having a flat tummy that I noticed it. How wrong I was (and they were clearly just being nice). My boss came back from a business trip today, pointed at my stomach and said "blimey how big will you be by October". Nice. Men are so sensitive! I am actually quite worried about that now. I'm pretty sure it's all guts isnt it? It isnt actual baby. I think it's just baby pushing insides out of the way to make room. What a lovely thought. Weirdly I dont seem to have put on any weight. Maybe it's that my brain has got smaller and therefore lighter. I am feeling particularly spacey at the moment.

Hope everyone is keeping well!

FutureMum · 28/04/2010 10:50

Hi ladies!

Finally back from first transatlantic holiday in 10 years - the one where we caught the BA strike on the way out, and got stuck with the bliming volcano on the way back.
Think I am 18-19 weeks now, tummy a bit bigger but nobody has seemed to notice, except a colleague who thinks I've been porkying in big portions of American food. MS almost disappeared, can eat most savoury foods now, sweet is a no-no. Very knackered and sick during long flights, but probably to be expected.
Midwife app today and scan next week, can't wait to hear the baby's heartbeat and see him/her next week - how is everybody else doing? Have you felt much movement? Are you still able to fit in your normal clothes? I am (they are loose though), so I am a tiny bit worried that bump is not as big as it should be (does this make sense?)

babybunting2010 · 28/04/2010 14:23

Hi FutureMum, am not sure who else is still on this thread! It seems to have gone a tad quiet on this one at the moment. I wouldn't worry about the size of the belly think some people don't show at all for a bit longer! Am jealous though as I have a proper beach ball belly and am only 17 weeks!

Hope the scan etc... goes well, hopefully it'll relax any worries you have!

Anyway not sure how we can get everyone back on here! xx

Hevster · 28/04/2010 14:43

hey guys, futuremum glad you got back and your MS is going - 16.5 and no sign of mine easing off at all yet. The other Oct thread is way too busy for me and they all seem to know each other really well so have dipped back out of it!
babybunting I too have a proper belly coming and more alarmingly seem to have suddenly packed on a load aound my hips and waist as well!

babybunting2010 · 28/04/2010 15:01

I know what you mean Hevster. I like our little thread! Like you say they all know each other. Sorry to hear about your MS, mine has all but gone now! Thank GOD! Couldn't cope for much longer!

Hips and waist have all but disappeared! But hey it's worth it in the end!
xx

Hevster · 28/04/2010 15:09

babybunting is def worth it in the end (although i have my doubts when DD chucks her tantrums in the middle of the night!)
Is this your first or do you have some little darlings already?

Jacksmybaby · 28/04/2010 15:34

Hurray! Glad this thread has revived.

Hello, we keep bumping into each other, as it were, on various N&V threads so think we are going through similarly crap experiences!

But the good news is I have been ok'd for an ELCS by my consltant after last time's EMCS so that's a huge relief.

Glad others are well, or at least surviving!

babybunting2010 · 28/04/2010 17:16

hi Hevster, it's my first and I can't bloody wait if I'm honest! even with midnight tantrums!

I know what you mean about the thread being revived Jacksmybaby.... I guess because this is the first one I went on, I don't really want to go on anything else! I know I am a geek!

So how is everyone this evening? X

Hevster · 28/04/2010 18:39

I like this thread, let's keep it revived. waveing back at Jacksmybaby tis nice to meet other people who are having pants pregnancy's, in a bizarre way it cheers me up nearly as much as a glass of wine would pre preg.
Good news on the ELCS, I am planning to raise it with my GP next fri as midwife refused to do anything about it until 36 weeks (nearly asked her if she was taking the piss....)
babybunting how exciting it being your first, the waiting is horrible isn't it but at least we are well on the way now.

MummyBeth · 29/04/2010 09:17

Hey Ladies - Oh I'm glad to see everyone back - I have been busy lately and lost track and then actually lost the other thread - pregnancy head ? moi?

Anyway glad to hear you're all doing OK

Hevster - excuse my ignorance what's ELCS?

All is good with me - I had my 12 week scan at 14 and a half weeks - it wasn't as fun as the private one as she spent all the time measuring the head so we only got a quick look at the baby in profile - nevermind - baba is ok so that's all that matters.

Think I felt my first flutters last night - almost woke hubby up to tell him and then thought better of it!

I'm ballooning nicely - totally obvious that I'm pregnant now when I wear something fitted and have been growing like mad this week - but I was very itchy at the weekend so was expecting a growth spurt. - am now worrying that this is going to be a massive baby as there is a history of 10pounders on both sides - nice! Im 5'4" and a size 6 - ouch!

Sorry for the ramble just glad to chat again!

xxxxx
