Reuben is at 284 and has dropped by 23, I thought it was becoming a bit popular but I have admit that I have yet to meet another.

blueteddy · 25/06/2005 17:03

Nbg · 25/06/2005 17:05

maretta · 25/06/2005 18:26

I know someone, an adult, called Salima. Think that's lovely.

Also know a lovely little fella called Albert. That's no.700 - so I suppose not that unusual.

Rachey1969 · 25/06/2005 18:27

I've just seen a female reporter on Wimbledon called Romilly and it really struck a chord! I also really like India for a girl but dp not likely to approve of either!

Dahlia · 25/06/2005 18:51

A very distant relative of mine is called Psyche, which I quite like, but the poor girl's parents didn't know how to pronounce it and she was called Pish til she was about 16. (They only saw it written down and just made up their own pronunciation!)

Ladymuck · 25/06/2005 19:00

Ds2 was almost named Loughlin until we came across 2 at ds1's nursery - spelt lochlan, but same pronunciation! We used it as a middle naem instead.

Ds1 was almost called Carrickfergus, but I blame the drugs .

Melpomene · 25/06/2005 19:10

DD1 is called Sienna, because we had a holiday in the Italian city of Sienna approx 9 months before her birth . It was pretty unusual when she was born, but has become more popular due to the actress Sienna Miller. It went up a whopping 672 places last year according to the Bounty site!

DD2 is called Alix, also unusual.

I had a friend who gave her son the middle name Zebedee (no doubt dooming him to a lifetime of Magic Roundabout jokes.) I also know a baby girl called Rorie.

lou33 · 25/06/2005 19:12

my one is 4 as well mrsgr

dramaqueen72 · 25/06/2005 19:15

oh rachey -romilly is not only a nice name but one of my fave mumsnetters too
DS is called kalon (cal-on) shortened mostly to kal. I found it in a book of unusual names so it must be!
once knew of a boy called blade and his brother was called steele......hmmmmmmmmmmm, not sure about that.
like unusual names tho, was one of two of my names in my class and hated being called '1' and '2', so did try and not do the same to my children, the dd's are much more usual than kalon, but not in the top ten or anything.
theres some lovely names on this thread!

dinny · 25/06/2005 20:01

was going to call my second bub Romilly, but he was a boy...

fisil · 25/06/2005 20:28

I love these threads - and that site is excellent.

ds1 (spelt differently) is rapidly on the rise - from c. 4400 to c. 2000! Spelt the way we spell it (which we thought was the right way) it doesn't exist.

ds2 is also on the rise - from c. 800 to c. 650. I can't believe his name is that popular!

my name is fairly common and is around 500 (and fairly static) so I guess that ds2's name is not as unusual as we thought.

If we'd had a girl she would have been at no. 51 - so no consistency from us.

jessicasmummy · 25/06/2005 20:33

Jess is number 10!!! oops.... lets check out the new names we have thought of!
