Hiya,

Just thought it might be nice to start a thread for those of us due in May 2010. I know its only early days but I followed one of these whilst being pg with DS1 and it was invaluable.

Couldn't find one for my dates this time round (might be wrong?) so thought it would be nice to get together, share stories and follow the progress with some others in the same time-period.

I'm due 6/7 May I think. Didn't really plan to have such a short gap between DS1 and DC2 but also didn't do much to prevent it. (IYSWIM!)

Have started feeling nauseous already(!) which I can't believe as I didn't have it nearly as early as this last time round. No sickness last time and a very enjoyable pregnancy - so am hoping for the same again this time round. Slight disaster with giving birth 2 weeks early with no hospital notes or hospital bag, two hours from home and at a family funeral...(!) So am going to stay AT HOME near the end this time round. Really looking forward to giving birth again. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience last time and looking forward to hearing other peoples stories and sharing our pg's together!

Heya guys would u mind if I joined as well?

Im due May 30th with my 1st. Im looking like a beach ball already and starting to get so uncomfortable.

Im also having trouble at work as well and wanna go on maternity leave asap.

Is it true though we can only leave when the baby is due 11 weeks before? So I can leave at 29 weeks?
Im tired back is sore and the travel is getting me down .

Im having a little girl and the sickness was awful first 13 weeks and now its starting to hit back at me again.

Anybody else going on maternity early? Or haveing problems with their boss?

Thanks guys

mustbemadno3 · 08/02/2010 16:15

hello fullhamgrl im sure i seen your name on here before...maybe on another post?
I'm expecting little girl too. Really excited as I have 2 ds. Who are lovely but I cant wait to dress a little one in pink!!!

I worked to the day I went into labor with ds1, although I would definatley not recommend doing that, I was shattered and it made looking after baby after really hard.
I think if you get drs note you can leave before 29 weeks, but not sure tbh.

I'm not having any problems with my boss as hes my dh!!! Although he isn't very sympathetic and still sends me round the shop for his and everybody else lunch order!!!
Hope your sickness gets better, Mine came back too for a week, but ok again now.

KateM77 · 08/02/2010 19:45

Hi fulhamgirl Have you accrued any holiday that you could take before starting maternity leave? I'm planning to start maternity leave at 37 weeks and take 2 weeks holiday prior to that, so working up to 35 weeks.

I'm now just over 27 weeks and have been feeling exhausted over the last couple of weeks, and getting a lot of back pain. Keep having lots of nights where I barely sleep too. Fortunately my boss is very understanding and has agreed that if I have a bad night I can sleep in for a bit and come in late if I have no early meetings. This also helps with the travel as it means I'm on the train when it's quieter. The argument I took was that having me in the office still and being productive (even if I do arrive a bit late) is better than me not being there or being so tired I can't function!

Hope you manage to get something sorted out soon - good luck!

fulhamgirl · 09/02/2010 10:20

Aww thanks guys.

She wants me out of here for defo.

She asked if I wanted to go part time but me and DH cant affored it so im kinda being forced out early.
I think she wants me out because she has asked HR if I can leave early end of feb but then I wont get much time with the baby but I feel so stressed out im worried im hurting the baby.

Im hoping to take a year out fingers crossed so I wont be back until next march but there again that all depends on money I dont really wanna come back before xmas !!

I really dont want to go home and keep stressing was getting bad pains in my right side so now im scared im hurting her!! Very stressful.

Im over 24 weeks now its going fast to be honest.

OMG you worked up until your labour your so brave. This is my first and I am neverous about the pain when I go into labour but then everyone is different.

I have been on here before I think!! It seemed to drag between 13-20 weeks so I kept busy other ways now I know its May in only 3 months thought it would me nice to get back in touch.

Sorry to hear your boss isn't being too understanding fulhamgirl. I'm finding work tough at the moment. I'm just over 26weeks and am a play therapist for children with disabilities, and am finding the practical side of chasing after them just way too much now. Had a meeting with my boss on Friday and he's let me cut down on working with particular said challenging children which is nice. Chronic tiredness has definitely set in which doesn't help when I'm not sleeping great anyway!

mustbemadno3 phah at your DH sending you off on the lunch round!

We're moving house next Friday, can't wait to get settled now and start decorating the pink palace baby's room

shhhh · 09/02/2010 14:29

not needing this thread BUT wanted to say god luck to you all....I was a may 2005 mum...

I now have a beautiful 4 (soon to be 5 yr old). How time flies though!

Good luck to you all and enjoy the new additions. btw, May is a lovely month to have a new baby Freah air, lovely walks, lovely flowers...xx

KateM77 · 09/02/2010 19:00

good luck with the move first1 hope it all goes well. My house purchase is progressing well. Looks likely we'll exchange contracts in a couple of weeks and probably complete and move on 1st of April (of all days!). It won't leave that much time to get decorating baby's room so keeping everything crossed it won't arrive early!

Thanks Shhhh Really looking forward to a May baby and pushing round for walks each day in the summer

PanicMode · 09/02/2010 19:43

Hi everyone - KateM77 - my eldest was born on 1st April so it's a good day for me! Best of luck with the move, and to first1 too.

fulhamgirl - sorry to hear your boss is being difficult. Mine is being ok, but I had lunch with a client yesterday who kept making comments like "you must be a Muslim because you're having your fourth", and when I said that I was in fact Catholic, but that's not why we've got 3 plus bump, he said how lovely for my DH that we obviously don't use contraception !!! Still, only 3 weeks to go until I finish work and I won't have to suffer that sort of nonsense any more.

fulhamgirl · 10/02/2010 11:02

Thanks guys for the support !!

Oh panicmode thats not good at all. Some people have no tact at all and its really none of their business either. Their just sticking their nose in where the information really doesnt concern them.

Well today hasent gone down to well I am going to Leave in April whereas before I was going to leave on March 8th. Its not right to give in when I dont really want to leave early.

Can I just ask guys I havent felt her move much today whereas I feel her constantly kick!!
Should I be a little worried? Ive felt a few flutters now and again but nothing of what I am used to !! I just start panicking not good really.

Yea May is lovely pushing the pram etc!! I got my pram but its still in the shop for when she is born as its meant to be bad luck. No excuesses then ladies for not get that preggers weight off when we can have nice walks in the park in the sunshine.

Thanks katem77!

Going for a growth scan in the morning I'm pretty nervous about it. Saw GP today (not my regular one) and she said "Are you sure you're 26+2? You look more like 20+2". Tactful hey?! DH is off to Windsor for work for a couple of days so wont be there to hand hold so I'm pretty apprehensive. Watch this space for potential moaning tomorrow...

KateM77 · 11/02/2010 19:38

Health in pregnancy grant arrived yesterday, 2 weeks after I posted the form off

How did the scan go first1?

Saw consultant today about my back pain and have been referred for physio. Hope it helps, it would be nice to get a bit more sleep

first1 · 11/02/2010 20:12

It was fine thanks kate. Hope the physio can sort your back out and impressed with the 2week turn around for the grant. I've just put mine in the post this afternoon so hope to get it early March.

She's measuring on the 50th centile for everything and weighs 2pounds at the moment which appears to be bang on average for the gestation. Got a follow up consultant appt tomorrow but seems I'm just sporting a small bump. Having the GTT test on Wednesday. I haven't had any glucose in my wee and baby's fine, but have a family history of diabetes so need to dot the i's I guess. Anyone else having it?

Jayfer · 18/02/2010 12:03

30wks today woohoo!

Got a cold but other than that I'm feeling ok. Can't tie shoelaces as I tend not to be able to breathe when I bend over.
I'm washing donated baby clothes like mad and the nursery is all set up.

Got a couple of growth scans in two weeks and four weeks just to check he's doing ok with the medication I'm taking. But he's kicking lots and had hiccups yesterday. So I think he's fine.

How is everyone else doing?

Vix10 · 18/02/2010 20:40

Hi, I'm 27 weeks pregnant and thought I would ask when you are planning to finish work? I originally said 30th April (37 weeks) but my sister just had her baby at 37 weeks so now I'm not sure!

Want to keep earning as long as possible but also not sure how I'm going to be feeling as this is the first one.

Thanks!

PanicMode · 18/02/2010 22:08

Hi Vix

I finished at 36 weeks with my first, which I found a week too long (at least), but I think it depends on what you do - I had to commute for up to an hour a day.

I've done various things - I finished at 36 weeks with my first, 34 with my second, 28 with my third (we moved house - would have been later) and am finishing in 2 weeks time, when I'll be just over 32 weeks because I currently have a 3 hour commute a day and it's too much.

Biw · 18/02/2010 22:26

Vix,
With first babies it's usually advised to finish as early as you can afford to. Remember 37 weeks is considered "full term" although most of us think of 40 weeks.

Stopped at 28 weeks with my first. This time I'm hoping to carry on until 33 weeks.

first1 · 19/02/2010 10:07

Vix, this is my first too and I plan to finish ar 33weeks as my job is pretty physical. But I'm using 3 weeks of annual leave I've saved first then maternity leave will kick in at 36weeks.

KateM77 · 19/02/2010 18:37

Vix it's my first and I'm planning to work up until 35 weeks. First two weeks off will be holiday and then maternity leave starts at 37 weeks. 6 weeks to go and I'm counting down every day - I'm exhausted!

first1 · 01/03/2010 09:32

This thread has gone very quiet, time for a revival! How is everyone getting on? Exciting to be able to say that we're all having babies the month after next!

DH and I are going to our first antenatal class this afternoon, we don't really know what to expect so a tad nervous to be honest. Have you all started doing up baby's room yet? We moved house about 10 days ago, pretty much all settled in, but we're going to start doing her room in a couple of weeks once we're settled.

Anyway, hope everyone's well. Roll on maternity leave!

newmomma · 01/03/2010 10:27

Hi ladies.

Long time no post...!
Just wondering if anyone would be interested in a 2009 Storm Quinny Buzz. Bought 12 months ago and used (honestly!) less than 30 times. In fantastic condition.

I have ordered my double buggy (boo!) and reluctantly need to get rid of my lovely Quinny.

I also have the Dreami Carrycot which is brand new - never even be taken out of the box. Also in Storm.

Let me know? I'm in Reading - there was someone on here who was interested but I forgot to email pics over and now I can't find the post.

first1 best of luck with the classes - I really enjoyed mine first time round (not going to bother again - it was only 14 months ago!). Its lovely getting the babies room all ready - I used to just go and stand in mine and stare at all the baby stuff!

Hi everyone, I had wondered where th thread had gone!

Technically I can say that I'm having my baby NEXT month as my due date is the 30th April - but I am sure it's going to be May.....hence being here.

Am finishing work on Wednesday - hurrah.

Had a fetal heart scan at Tommies on Wednesday last week and the baby's heart is perfect, so have a consultant's appointment on the 9th April and am hoping to be 'allowed' to refuse IV ABs then....I think I may just stay at home until it's too late for them to be administered - it worked last time, although my DS was almost born in the car park, so I don't think I'll leave it guite as late

rosyred · 01/03/2010 13:27

Hi all, I posted on here ages ago, am due 1st May and am really fed up already. my mood swings are awful and everyone is walking on eggshells around me. I wasn't like this when pregnant with boys, I think its female hormone overload. lol.
Anyway should'nt rush it cause havn't bought anything yet except for an outfit for baby to come home in. I am being scanned every few weeks as have had previous big babies so they want to see what her weight goes like.
Hi new momma, I would be interested in the quinny and carrycot, was looking at prams yesterday and really like that one. let me know, I can give you email address for pictures

KateM77 · 01/03/2010 19:33

Hi everyone. All still going well with the pregnancy, but sadly no preparing baby's room yet for me as things have gone a bit wrong with the house move

We were due to exchange today and complete 31st March, which was cutting it quite fine as I'll be 35 weeks then. Have had last minute issues with the bank and now having to start from scratch with another bank, which will delay things a few weeks (at best). I won't bore you with the details, but wouldn't advise anyone to try to get a mortgage with Santander / Abbey

Now have no idea where I'm actually going to end up giving birth! Would obviously like to get settled in the new place and transfer everything medically properly, but I guess if the worst comes to the worst you can turn up anywhere when in labour

newmomma · 01/03/2010 19:43

Look forward to hearing from you - was just about to start considering eBay!

Oh KateM77 - so sorry to hear your news....but if it's any consolation, almost exactly the same thing happened when we moved here when I was pg with DC3. We ended up with a similar house and I discovered if we'd bought 'the' house, we wouldn't have got DC1 into the school we wanted - so it all worked out in the end, and I'm sure it will for you too, even though at the time it's devastating, and doubly so when you want to start nesting!
