Hiya,

Just thought it might be nice to start a thread for those of us due in May 2010. I know its only early days but I followed one of these whilst being pg with DS1 and it was invaluable.

Couldn't find one for my dates this time round (might be wrong?) so thought it would be nice to get together, share stories and follow the progress with some others in the same time-period.

I'm due 6/7 May I think. Didn't really plan to have such a short gap between DS1 and DC2 but also didn't do much to prevent it. (IYSWIM!)

Have started feeling nauseous already(!) which I can't believe as I didn't have it nearly as early as this last time round. No sickness last time and a very enjoyable pregnancy - so am hoping for the same again this time round. Slight disaster with giving birth 2 weeks early with no hospital notes or hospital bag, two hours from home and at a family funeral...(!) So am going to stay AT HOME near the end this time round. Really looking forward to giving birth again. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience last time and looking forward to hearing other peoples stories and sharing our pg's together!

Hi All, I'm new to this and due the 18th May - very excited - if not a little scared at times I also fell pregnant on our honeymoon - didn't expect it to happen so quickly, we are so lucky. Had about 6 weeks of nausea but no actual sickness - very pleased. Haven't felt the little one yet - well I could have done but not sure, hopefully soon. Can't wait for my next scan in Jan to see the baby again.....
Hope you're all feeling well

Congrats BabyVin and Charzie Charzie, have you looked at your scan pics for the 3 white lines to show a girl? They don't just say girl because the cant see boy bits, they look for girl bits!

BabyVin · 22/12/2009 17:21

My hospital doesn't tell me the sex - whilst we thought we wanted a surprise we are very curious!!! So 3 white lines for a girl - and for a boy dangle bits. I'm not sure I will be able to tell Oh well - a surprise it will be

first1 · 22/12/2009 17:43

provided bubba has his/her legs spread for the camera!x

PanicMode · 23/12/2009 20:18

Hi everyone, and welcome to the newbies!!

I had my belated 20 week scan today and everything was absolutely fine - the scan was so much more clear than with my first one - we even got a look at the baby's face in 4D which was incredible. At one point, it had its feet over its head.

We did find out what we're having, but I'm sworn to secrecy - I was surprised because I was sure it was the other flavour - but still, the baby is healthy and that's all that matters....

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and New Year - won't be online again until January now.

KateM77 · 23/12/2009 21:19

Great news panicmode glad all is well. Your scan sounds amazing - I could barely work out one blob from another! My 12 week scan was much clearer

Have a great Christmas everyone

wibblela · 23/12/2009 22:27

Good news panicmode

It's really good to hear of the scans that went well I don't have mine until 5 Jan 2010, and am anxious to have it now - want to see the creature which has been kicking me from the inside! But I will abide what they have said and have it later It's not like I have any choice in the matter!

Feeling kicks is so weird, but fantastic at the same time - LO is my first. Helps me realise that this hasn't been all in my head. Bump hasn't grown much, so have not much evidence from that. Until I see the scan, the kicks are pretty much it!

Had some lovely presents today Friend who lives in Australia sent through some reusable nappies! I was speechless, they are not cheap! She has sent me some Bambino Mio and some BumGenius ones. I am still in shock. She has been so lovely and it was completely unexpected

mustbemadno3 · 27/12/2009 12:32

katem77 I had my scan on 23rd and relief to know everything is o.k as I havent really felt baby move yet. I also have to have another scan at 34 weeks due to low lying placenta. Have you felt your baby move yet?
And is it safe to have sex? Couldnt ask these questions as both my 2 boys were with me at the scan.
But we were all delighted to find out its a girl...im so pleased just hope they not got it wrong! It was a good view and even I thought a girl before the sonographer said so. Im pleased everything is ok apart from placenta although like you say its fairly common. But everything dos feel low and in the wrong place.

Hope everyones having a great christmas, im full of cold and feel shit... making me rethink the swine flu jab!!! Booked in but still not sure what to do.

KateM77 · 27/12/2009 16:52

mustbemadno3 yes, I started to feel movements a few weeks ago and they've got stronger so that DH has also felt them from the outside. I didn't ask about whether it was OK to have sex, but assume they would have said not to if it was a problem. They didn't tell me to do or not doing anything in particular, other than not to panic.

Apparently about 20% of people have it at this stage but only 1% still at 34 weeks, so it's very likely things will move.

Congratulations on your girl - must be nice after 2 boys

I had the swine flu vaccine a couple of weeks ago, and other than a slightly sore arm for a couple of days I've had no ill effects. Scan was after the vaccination and all OK with baby too. Obviously everyone's different, but it's given me peace of mind to have had it

Haribolicious · 27/12/2009 16:53

Hi ladies....was interested to read your post mustbemadno3 as I had my 20wk scan on Christmas Eve and felt exactly like you....haven't felt the baby move much (will be 2nd - due 12/5/10) have had some light butterfly movements but that's it, so was beginning to worry if all was ok.
The midwife also struggled to find the heartbeat at my 16wk appt, which completely freaked me out but after a glass of water, found it no problem.
Anyway, all is good and we're having another boy but found that I have a low lying placenta too (anterior placenta) and will be scanned again at 32wks....the advice I was given was to carry on as normal as it is quite common at this stage of pregnancy, tho I have a few days off work now with DH so might try and take it easy, otherwise it's not so easy with a toddler! I have since felt some more stronger movements but not much, so fingers crossed that it moves - the stronger movements are so reassuring!

mustbemadno3 · 28/12/2009 14:13

haribolicious congrats on a boy, I take it you wanted to know? any names yet? Im due the same day as you! and interesting as my mwife struggled to find the heartbeat at 16 weeks too,but I think it was because she was/is so low down.
I still havent felt much its more of a pushing sensation. And im very uncomfortable for most of the time, I feel like standing on my head to shake it into position!!!

Katemm7 thanks for feedback, yes really pleased its a girl, I love my boys to bits, but the thought of another few years on that rugby pitch freaks me out!! Lets hope she dosnt want to play rugby!
Think I will have the swine flu jab, I feel so poorly at the minute, that the thought of catching s flu on top of being pregnant is prob not worth the risk. My eldest had his few weeks ago and me and my other ds are due to have it on the 9th.

first1 · 31/12/2009 17:04

Had my anomoly scan today and thankfully everything is fine. Bub was lying in an awkward position at first so got sent for a walk and a hot chocolate! And had it confirmed that she's definitely a girl! The placenta is anterior but high so they're not worried. So glad all the scans so far have gone well for everyone. Here's to a Happy New Decade of happy healthy babies!

wibblela · 31/12/2009 18:59

first1 that is good news Another girl!

first1 · 05/01/2010 13:09

Just thought I'd see how everyone's doing?! Baby seems to have learnt kungfu these past few days. Feels so nice but bloody weird seeing my tummy jumping around! Hope everyone's well. We're getting there girls, next stop, 24 week check!

Jayfer · 05/01/2010 14:22

hey first1 how far along are you? I'm 23+5 with my first one. I'm not seeing the midwife til 26wks.
How are you finding it all? The kicking is really weird but lovely too. I didn't feel him kick til after my 20wk scan so was starting to get worried. Has your baby kicked your bladder yet? That's an odd feeling!! I was just sat there completely fine, then the baby kicked and I jumped up needing the loo desperately! Very odd.

first1 · 05/01/2010 15:06

Hi Jayfer I'm 21+1 with my first. Got my 24week check on 25th Jan. I'm not sure I've felt actual kicks in my bladder but I definitely get sudden desperate urges to wee so maybe she is starting to trampoline on it! Have you thought of any names?

Jayfer · 05/01/2010 16:54

Yep think we have got the name sorted but keeping it a secret so it doesn't get blown out of the water by family members (MIL!!).
Have you? We're having a boy, the scan was very clear so the sex is definitely a boy! The baby kicks when my hubbie either talks to him or when he touches my tummy. Its odd he reacts to his Dad but doesn't with anyone else!
Having a nice quite day today, been told to put my feet up by doc and baby's been resting quite a lot. Plus its my birthday so I get pampered today!

wibblela · 05/01/2010 18:15

Hi everyone grin

We have snow here, I thought it was a lot until we went to Bolton this afternoon and they have 1ft! I am so glad we have a 4x4 (c: The M62 was interesting - there seem to be a people who have no respect for the weather or braking distances!

Anyway, will not rant about that - much better things to talk about

DH and I went to Ante-natal clinic this morning and had the 20 week scan (am now 21+5). We saw LO again and LO is most definitely our child! Didn't like posing for pictures and was a fidget! Sonographer prodded to no real avail! We wanted to find out the sex and although LO's legs weren't crossed, the gender wasn't easy to see. Sonographer said area was quite flat and was therefore quite likely that we were having a GIRL!!! grin She did say she couldn't be 100% - I guess we shall find out for sure in May

Had my consultant appointment after that. Life is going to get interesting! I have been on Metformin because of an insulin resistance, however they want to see, as I am obese, if I have developed gestational diabetes, so they have taken me off of that. I now have to check my blood sugar after every meal and most likely go for a GTT in couple of weeks - FUN Also because am obese they are going to do serial growth scans - that means we get to see LO more often wink On top of that because I have Multiple Sclerosis I need to see Anaesthetist before birth.

first1 · 06/01/2010 11:11

Happy Birthday for yesterday Jayfer

Wibblela Congrats on the girl! I'm having one too, loving all the pink shopping! Sounds like you had a rather busy Consultant appointment! I'm having a GTT at 27weeks because there's a slight family history of type 2 diabetes, but touch wood all my urine tests so far have been clear but we'll see. Is baby measuring the right size now? I'm sure it'll be very reassuring to have regular growth scans. I hate the thought of not seeing bub for another 19weeks so might try and twist DH's arm to pay for one at some point!

BabyVin · 06/01/2010 15:21

Hi All, Happy Birthday Jayfer for yesterday, an extra excuse to relax and be pampered!!
We had our 20 week scan today - although I am just over 21 weeks now... We had to walk for about 50 mins each way cause the snow was too deep for our little punto to get through But we had to get there - I've been so excited to see the baby again. Suprisley the baby is slightly bigger than the average line, surprising because everyone keeps telling me my bump is small and I haven't felt kicking yet - just a little poking sensation. But all is fine and thats the most important thing. I did mention that the baby has been having lots of biscuits especially over christmas!
Couldn't tell what sex it was (our hospital doesn't tell you) so I guess I will be finding out in May
Anyway - am glad people are getting on ok.
Enjoy the snow!!

mustbemadno3 · 07/01/2010 20:57

Im begining to get paranoid, Im not really feeling any kicks yet, i get abit of movement now and again but nothing definate. Also its so low down, literally just above the pubic bone..ish! Anybody else in the same boat?
Also is anyone else thinking of having a 3d scan?

PanicMode · 08/01/2010 11:59

Hi everyone

Happy New Year - haven't been around much since the beginning of the year - the snow has meant that I've not been at work and the children have been off school....so less computer time for me!

mustbemadno 3 - all my kicks are very low down too - at the scan the baby was breech - although obviously at 24 weeks it's not a problem - so am hoping that the baby turns around soon. Although last time I had so many kicks under my ribcage it was agony!

Hope everyone is ok, and staying upright in the snow - I'm finding it rather challenging, and now the snow has turned to ice, not a little bit scary.....

wibblela · 08/01/2010 12:09

mustbemadno3 That's the same with me - most of the kicks are lower down, but I think I feel that more because I have an anterior placenta - do you know where your's is?

first1 · 08/01/2010 14:13

My kicks are very low and I too have an anterior placenta though its high up.

mustbemadno3 · 08/01/2010 16:26

wibblela they said I had a low lying placenta over the cervix, so I am assuming this is the same as anterior placenta? not sure.
Feeling bit down at the mo, as I dont really feel right, having no end of dizzy spells and almost fainted while out shopping today. Lucky my ds was with me, bless him think it scared him. I think Im just getting anxious about the lack of movement. And im not due to see m.w until 28th Jan, and I dont want to bother ringing the hospital as I think Im slightly paranoid!!!

Back to work next week so maybe I will be able to concentrate on something else other than the baby!
Hope everyone is o.k and as panicmode said staying upright in the snow!
