Hiya,

Just thought it might be nice to start a thread for those of us due in May 2010. I know its only early days but I followed one of these whilst being pg with DS1 and it was invaluable.

Couldn't find one for my dates this time round (might be wrong?) so thought it would be nice to get together, share stories and follow the progress with some others in the same time-period.

I'm due 6/7 May I think. Didn't really plan to have such a short gap between DS1 and DC2 but also didn't do much to prevent it. (IYSWIM!)

Have started feeling nauseous already(!) which I can't believe as I didn't have it nearly as early as this last time round. No sickness last time and a very enjoyable pregnancy - so am hoping for the same again this time round. Slight disaster with giving birth 2 weeks early with no hospital notes or hospital bag, two hours from home and at a family funeral...(!) So am going to stay AT HOME near the end this time round. Really looking forward to giving birth again. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience last time and looking forward to hearing other peoples stories and sharing our pg's together!

xxx

mustbemadno you're lucky to have had your 2nd MW appt already, how many weeks are you? I don't have my 16-18 week checkup until 3rd December Glad it all went ok though

KateM77 · 24/11/2009 13:56

Hi all. Had my 16 week MW appointment last week and she said it was too early to try and listen for heartbeat. Fortunetly had seen a doctor at the hospital the day before about my back problems and he had found it - such a relief to hear it still beating strongly. It seems like a very long time between the 12 and 20 week scans!

Hope you're all well, all my sickness seems to have gone fortunately and I'm on holiday this week, so feeling very relaxed

mustbemadno3 · 24/11/2009 17:00

first1 Im 16 weeks, hope you get seen very soon, its just nice to have a chat and check everything o.k. Cant believe katemm7 mw said too early to listen too heartbeat. It took alittle while to find mine but when she got it, it was loud and clear. Wont have my next appointment for another 10 weeks which seems ages away, Im sure I was senn alot more with the other 2? But lots to do over christmas period so Im sure it will come round quick.

first1 · 24/11/2009 18:08

Got my MW appt next week, will be 16+3, then next one is at 24weeks (obviously got scan in between). But I agree, mustbemadno3 the checkups seem too spaced out for my liking!

charr · 24/11/2009 20:44

Hi

Can I join your thread? I've just joined MN today and am about 14 weeks (due 22/05/2010) with my first baby - so it's all a lot to take in at the moment!

A few of you seem to have heard the heartbeat already - do you have to ask for this? As I had a scan at about 7 weeks and another at 12 and there wasn't sound at either of them (I didn't think to ask about listening to the heartbeat - the flickering of the heart was exciting enough). I'm seeing the MW on 10 December so I'll probably ask her about it then - as I'd really love to hear the heartbeat.

I'm just hoping the sickness wears off soon as I seem to be losing weight rather than putting it on (mind you I wasn't slim to start with so I'm not too worried at the moment).

newmomma · 25/11/2009 09:00

welcome charr
from memory i don't think i heard the heartbeat until 16 week mw appt last time - but sometimes if you've had problems they will listen to see if they can hear the heartbeat.

so you shouldn't have much longer to wait until you're 16 week appt if you're 14 weeks. personally i found the scans much more interesting than the heartbeat anyhow... but still quite amazing the first time your hear it.

Heard bubba's heartbeat today Music to my ears! Wasn't MW appt, just GP visit for a non pregnancy issue but thought I'd be cheeky and ask for a listen.

Can I ask, have any of you been suffering from horrible headaches?? Mine are horrendous. GP reckons its tension in my neck so been referred to a physio specialising in pregnancy. Just wondered if any of you ladies have suffered with them too?

charr · 26/11/2009 20:35

Hi first1. I've had quite a few headaches too, sometimes with a stiff neck (I was at work today looking like a bit of an idiot as I stretched my neck in various directions ) - I was wondering if it might be down to being pregnant or just one of those things. I think I'll ask the MW next time I see her, so thanks for the tip

KateM77 · 27/11/2009 13:23

first1 I've had lots of headaches too. Miserable with not being able to take anything for them. MW said it was really common and that I should only worry if I had blurred vision and vomiting at the same time. She said I could take one paracetamol if it was bad. I'm not sure that one paracetamol will do anything though, and prefer not to take anything, so have just been suffering!

wibblela · 28/11/2009 10:59

you're right KateM77 paracetamol are like sweets to me! I am getting a lot of headaches as well although I have put that down to the Multiple Sclerosis and not pregnancy - maybe I should revise that, every little health niggle gets attributed to the MS, perhaps not very fair!

KateM77 · 28/11/2009 13:25

I think the headaches are due to the hormones. I get menstrual migraines so wasn't surprised to get headaches with all the pregnancy hormones - just glad they're not as bad as the migraines!

first1 · 29/11/2009 10:37

Thanks Kate & Wibbela, sorry to hear you're suffering too, but at least we can moan together!

Got my MW appt Thursday (16+3), I have a zillion questions to ask her but just wondered what actually happens at this check up?

Hope everyone else is well. PS: My tummy is huuuuge!!

wibblela · 29/11/2009 14:15

you're so blessed first1 wish my tummy was huge think coz I was large in the first place it isn't showing so much!

I am not due to meet MW again until my 24 week check up, when I saw her couple of weeks ago she just wanted to test my urine and to listen to dc's heartbeat. I had to ask her to take my BP, (BP was normal). Have you had the results from your blood tests? She didn't have mine at that appt and I had to ring her for them. Thank God all was normal.

I don't think she was that concerned about seeing me as I am due to see consultant at beginning of January - you'll have to tell us how it goes with your MW next week.

How's everyone else?

first1 · 30/11/2009 16:30

OMG I'm soo excited for tomorrow! DH has booked me in for a 16 week gender scan Just wanted to get the excitement off my chest!

Congrats and welcome charr. I hope the sickness wears off for you soon, I'm sure its miserable

mustbemadno3 · 30/11/2009 21:22

hello everyone, sorry not been on net for about a week. Hope you all o.k. Im a right mardy arse at the minute!! Im knackered from weekend and very tearful?? What is wrong with me! Im fed up of my selfish dh or eh (evil husband!!) we went to a xmas party at the weekend and he disappeared to get me a glass of water and never came back!! He spent all the kitty money on champagne and cocktails with the male morons in our group. I was so upset I ended up crying in the middle of the party, how embarrasing? Normally I would'nt have taken any notice and I would have been the one spending the kitty money myself!!!, but obviously the fact I cant join in with the festive drinking and hormones are playing havock it all must be getting to me!!! And Im missing my lovely mum, wish she was here to share this grandchild.
Moan over!!

wibblela · 01/12/2009 20:24

mustbemadno3 how's the lip now?

Pootle77 · 02/12/2009 13:09

Hello,

Can I join in too - I joined MN yesterday and have been lurking!

I'm 17+1 weeks with a due date of 18th May - it'll be our first and we're thrilled. Years and years of waiting for the 'right time' and all that.

I had my 16wk appointment last week with the GP (MW was off ill) and heard the heartbeat for the first time too. Roll on 20 weeks

first1 · 02/12/2009 13:41

hi pootle77, congrats! You're 17+1? I'm 16+2 but due one day before you!

wibblela · 02/12/2009 14:30

welcome pootle77 Good news about LO

I'm 16+6 and due on the 13th May! Do the medical profession really know what they are saying?

PanicMode · 02/12/2009 16:57

Hi Pootle77 - congratulations!!

Hello everyone else - hope you are all well. I have rather lost track of where I am - think I'm coming up to 19 weeks on Friday. We have our scan on the 18th Dec when I'll be 21 weeks.

I haven't been around much - my poor brother's girlfriend finally lost her battle with terminal cancer the week before last (she'd only just turned 31 ), so it's been rather harrowing here for a while as I've been trying to help him keep it together for the funeral etc.

The baby is starting to play football with my insides - I'd forgotten how weird it feels, but it's nice to know that it's flipping around happily. I don't have my next MW appointment until after Christmas now.

How is everyone else getting on?!

first1 · 02/12/2009 17:09

panicmode I am so so sorry. What terrible news, and so young as well. I'm sure you're being a brilliant sister and a big support to your brother. My thoughts are with you.

It seems bitter sweet news after hearing panicmode's news, but I'm having a girl!!

PanicMode · 02/12/2009 18:36

first1 - it's all part of the circle of life. Two days after she got her diagnosis, she was holding my 2 day old baby - and that broke my heart, but she was SO brave and just smiled through it all.

How very exciting that you're having a girl. I'm still trying to persuade DH to find out - we haven't with any of the others so he thinks it would be 'disloyal' or something!

mustbemadno3 · 02/12/2009 22:33

wibbela my lip is fully recovered thankyou!, bit of a scar but can hide it well with abit of lippy!
I had my letter from gp re swine flu jab, really dont know wht to do? Are you having it done?

Panicmode How awful for you and your brother. Such a terrible and terrifying disease to have and so young.

first1 Congratulations....whats it feel like now you know what your having? Are you relieved to know or do you wish you had waited? I cant wait to find out, only another 3 weeks to go, hope they can tell what it is!

first1 · 03/12/2009 10:03

I'm elated to have found out especially as we were so convinced she was a he! But there were 3 very obvious white lines. Still in denial a bit so looking forward to double confirmation at 20weeks

wibblela · 03/12/2009 10:34

mustbemadno3 Good to know your lip is fully recovered (c: I had a phonecall about swine flu jab from my GP's surgery asking if I wanted it, and seemed surprised when I said no straight away. I have heard that it contains mercury, and not sure that I want a dangerous metal in my system, and therefore LO, even though it'll only be a miniscule amount. Also as someone else on MN has said that their GP wouldn't allow their children to have it - gov't was saying not give it a year ago as it was unsafe. Of course it is an individual decision, but as for my house we are not having it.

panicmode You have my sympathy - how nasty. Good news about feeling LO moving though - as you say it must be weird.

first1 Congrats! A little girl, how exciting Must have been really nice to see another scan as well

Well I am 17 weeks today, and want to feel baby moving! Although I am being quite realistic and knowing that this'll happen after Christmas - I was obese in first place so likely that I will feel kicks later than normal!
