Hahahah jw yep - your link went to a pic of the old fashioned test card I thought - cor, jw is looking younger and younger and what the heck is she doing with that creepy clown doll!!!

duchesse I got a big bucket (hugely unattractive) from one of DP's trade accounts with a hardware store. Mind you - i ditched it as I could get too many nappies in it and actually it smelled horrid. Went back to small one and ended up bunging in towels etc to back up the load. [slovenly smelly mummy emoticon]

tee and iris sorry about your rough nights. We we up again and Iris was wailing and unusually she'd fallen out of bed (onto her crash mat sofa - so no harm done) but she was none too happy! And that set off Verity

Iris seems perkier but nose is streaming. FIngers crossed for a cold. Weather is dire so it's indoors fun for us today.

johnworf · 21/07/2009 10:37

That's weird cos when I click the link I posted, it takes me to item pic/description of the one I ordered. Odd.

morning all. ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzz skipped aquanatal for a last lie-in before bedlam.
Friend cooked me the most delicious toasties and we had Waitrose coffee cake (provided by me) with fresh strawberries. YUM!
THEN went to La Tasca for tea with best mate and M and DH. M scoffed all the paella and bread and we pigged out on loads and loads. Didn't get to the cinema after all but wasn't all that bothered anyway. Only the latest Arry Potta that I'd have fancied.

jj hope you're not stressing as much today about Verity. Hard tough but some little ones are just that - little. My friend's girl (I saw yesterday) is still in size 6-9 months stuff and she's 17 months old. But she's just petite.

mrsboogie · 21/07/2009 11:09

morning all

wait til you hear this ladies: D went to bed at 7pm , woke at 9 for a bottle , went back to sleep immediately and didn't wake again until about 7.50 this morning!!

Like, proper sleep!! Finally!

Sorry to those who had bad nights, and tee that souonds like a very bad night!

sorry to hear the girls have the lurgy jj D has just finished his latest. As usual it affected us worse than him.

the nursery has an Ofsted inspection going on and all seemed particulaly industrious in there this morning. Much dottingof i's and crossing of t's. I know there aren't supposed to be apostrophes there but it looks worng without!

Haven't looked at the white stuff link jw as I am foreswearing all unessential shopping at the moment. Spent hundreds more ast month than I earned which is not on. Am trying to get a grip of my profligacy at the moment.

Waitrose coffee cake
Sounds like you had a lovely time. You make sure to tell us as soon as there's news now!

I got a FB request for a name I don't recognise yesterday - wonder if it was someone offa here? no message with it.

I think I am overusing the exclamation marks - must be the excitment of getting a night's sleep. Must go and calm down...

hedgepig · 21/07/2009 11:11

I could see the link JW very pretty .

Bonzo how exciting the LO will be here tomorrow, sounds like you had a lovely evening.

JJ I'm glad Iris is a bit perkier. I think the rain is easing (maybe wishful thinking)

ermintrude13 · 21/07/2009 11:36

Tee what a night, sorry to hear young Adam isn't behaving like a gent. Arthur went down at 11, woke for half an hour's feeding at 3.50 and slept on till 8, so no grumbles here, though not as impressive as young Darragh, lucky MrsB.

JW hope your big baby's bd goes well. The 2nd thing my DD said when she met Arthur, after saying 'Cuuuuute!' was 'When he's my age you'll be 53 hahahahaha'. . But we're trying to encourage her maths so I couldn't say she was wrong.

JJ I need to think about an outfit for my sister's wedding that enables b/feeding. Love White Stuff stuff and a kaftan appeals but I think it might be a bit casual. Any suggestions for something that isn't a 'shirtwaister', ladies?

Bonzo Lovely to be having such a nice chilled sociable time before D-day. Bet you're all excited now though

Hope all these snuffly babes and toddlers just have colds...

The school secretary called me yesterday to forewarn me that DD is getting an award in today's Leaver's Assembly. I was already going to blub as soon as the children started to sing; now I'll be a mass of blubbering snot. Trying to think of something distracting which won't make me cry and have only come up with white goods. I will imagine walking around Curry's and hope that does the trick .

jeanjeannie · 21/07/2009 11:36

I can see it now jw - it's gorgeous

mrsB that's amazing - GO D!

OK - worried alert. Just taken Verity for her booster jab - which she didn't have the other day as she was snotty. So, the nurse who I know well noticed that all didn't seem right with Verity's hips. Went up to see the HV and they agreed that they were very splayed and they couldn't pull them in. I've got an emergency appointment at 4.10 today - looks like there is quite a serious problem - hence her not crawling/trying to stand etc. Feel sick.

johnworf · 21/07/2009 11:37

bonzo don't forget to tell us how it all went and what flavour your little dumpling is

mrsb ...and the award for best sleeper goes to.....(drum roll).....D!!! What a star!

I have also curbed my spending. I am about to sort out K's clothes she has outgrown and there is a pile still with labels on. If DH finds out there'll be trouble..and rightly so.

Ta hedgepig re the top. Was thinking that I was going mad with links or something.

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 21/07/2009 11:47

oh jj how have they not noticed this before?

hedgepig · 21/07/2009 12:07

O! Bollocks JJ hope you can get some answers this pm (is it with the gp?). My friends little girl had hip problems and had to be in a cast for a few months but is fine now, if that helps at all.

johnworf · 21/07/2009 12:40

fark jj

Would explain things

OP posts:
johnworf · 21/07/2009 13:00

Couldn't type before as K wanted picking up. JJ at least they've spotted it but I would be asking questions how it's been missed up until now. They are supposed to have their hips checked before discharge from hospital and at the first check with HV

As someone has already said, I think the plaster is the remedy for a while.

Let us know when you've seen GP later ((((hug))))

OP posts:
FloriaTosca · 21/07/2009 13:11

Sneezy, snuffly little boy this morning but no temperature so probably just a cold.

JJSorry the girls are/have been unwell. at Veritys' possible hip problem...but as JW says it would explain a lot. Hope you hear something positive this afternoon.

JW Just got your txt...wasn't sure if your incarceration was just from public places or from everywhere...not that you are missing much on a miserable day like this...but it is going to be a long hard rest of the year for you [sympathetic emoticon]Lurve the kaftan top!(thank heavens for t'internet)

Bonzo I hope tomorrow goes really smoothly and beautifully. Good luck.

Only got Dh back last Monday, he was off on mercy missions all weekend and flew off to Germany today ...I feel like a single parent atm!

jeanjeannie · 21/07/2009 13:26

Hi all - we're still not positive it is hip dysplacia - which is the one they pick up at birth. Apparently it can manifest later - which (if it is) could explain it.

floria oh poor you - off to Germany now? How long for??

Will keep you posted.

heron22 · 21/07/2009 13:39

hi all

it is the school hols and DS1 is at home. LO still naps 3 times a day. thing is, when i am in room with LO and feeding him, when DS1 needs something like having his bottom wiped !, he comes in an LO gets disturbed and does not sleep well. then i get really upset and of course LO gets upset too. this is the second day DS1 is at home. and it is going to be one long summer if i cannot sort this out. i understand that sometimes DS1 obviously needs me. but when it clashes with me feeding LO, then what do i do?

tee sorry about your horrible night!
mrsb fingers crossed your LO now sleeps through!

duchesse · 21/07/2009 14:25

Good luck for tomorrow Bonzo. How exciting! Another baby on the thread.

Thanks for the bucket links ladies. I have 38 terries and muslins (mostly passed on by sister in law 16 years ago, and used by my first three, but still perfectly serviceable and now recently dyed bright colours), so probably won't need to wash all that often. I used to have two nappy buckets but the years they've spent outside as all purpose buckets have taken their toll, they're too brittle to use, and I've had to bin them.

johnworf · 21/07/2009 14:29

Ack floria. Married to a globetrotter! You left holding the fort Hope A gets over his sniffles real soon though.

Yeah we are kind of on house arrest. I even stayed home while DH took the boys out for lunch at Slatterys today for DS#2's b'day. I just can't risk it. AND I've got the invite for the baby signing course this morning starting in September. Of couse we can't accept it Shall have to wait until the spring. By then she might be too old.

We're off to cardiology week Friday to see how K's PDA is doing. I hope this guy will say she doesn't need the op.

JJ I don't know much about hip dysplasia apart from it needing some time in plaster casts to hold the hips in the correct position. I hope that all goes well this afternoon.

heron I'm afraid it's a juggling act isn't it? Can you explain to DC that he needs to be a bit quieter when baby is sleeping and hope he understands?

OP posts:
hedgepig · 21/07/2009 14:34

Heron it sounds just like our house at the moment. B is being pretty understanding but we are stuck in the house cos of the rain so I can't take him to the park for a run (I'm a great beliver that small boys have very similar needs to dogs!). I must admit B is watching a bit more TV that he would normally but needs must.

jeanjeannie · 21/07/2009 15:01

heron I concur with hedgepig and jw no definate answers - just that it is a juggling act. It's the thing I found hardest with having two small ones and yep - CBeebies was on a lot more than I would have liked - but hey ho!

jw missing Slatterys - ouch Hope your DS has a lovely birthday

Waiting for Verity to wake up - she's not feeling perky - bless. I'm sure she'll be even less pleased by having her hips shoved about.

johnworf · 21/07/2009 15:24

K just will not sleep today. I can't believe we're heading towards the no naps during the daytime. She's far too young. I've put her down in her cot in the vain hope she'll settle but I can hear her on the monitor.....using a plastic toy down the cot rails like in a prisoner in jail with his tin cup on the bars

hedgepig I agree on the small boys and dogs theory. Boys have bags of energy, much more than girls and I firmly believe it needs to be run off during the day

JJ meant to ask, did they do Verity's MMR while you were there or was she too poorly? K didn't have any side effects so mebbe she'll escape them too.

OP posts:
johnworf · 21/07/2009 15:27

...oh and another thing, White Stuff have just emailed me to say the kaftan I ordered is out of stock. Still showing in stock on the website so I'm harrumphing.

I've saved some money though.

OP posts:
hedgepig · 21/07/2009 15:29

we have now got the Wii fit out and are doing boxing, it will either wear him out or send him hyper

Tee2072 · 21/07/2009 15:48

Afternoon all.

What a lovely day, in a way that is filled with a cranky baby and lots of rain and such. I keep telling myself, this too will pass.

JW and hedgepig I was thinking that about small boys. Once A starts walking, we'll be spending some time in the park on a regular basis.

JW bummer about the Kaftan. But good to save money!

bonzo good luck!

JJ oh no about the hips! I hope its all okay soonest.

mrsb You too erm

A seems to be stirring, I'll be back later!

mrsboogie · 21/07/2009 16:06

bonzo good luck! sending you good vibes for a nice unstressful birth!

jj good luck also and hope to hear it isn't anything too major.

Did anyone watch the Street last night (not Corrie which was ace too) but Jimmy McGovern's one. Oh it was fab - I cried at the end when she was begging the school to let her boys in. Anna F was v good in it. Fab cast.

heron22 · 21/07/2009 16:29

jj hedgepig jw yes a real juggling act! it is raining here today and so we are confined indoors! grrrr!!!!!
am feeling like a bad mother cos DS1 has watched so much cbeebies it is not funny!

yes i agree small boys are like dogs, they need daily running around the yard!

bonzo goodluck with your section tomorrow!

LO is cranky cos of his disrupted sleep today. i have placed him in front of the washing machine and he is sitting watching it go round and round and round he loves it
