Phew - just hosted an impromptu day with a friend and her LOs....am knackered but all very nice.

jw Oh I must get off my fat butt and sell some nappies - good to hear some stuff has gone though. LOL@ the Haribo diet.

bonzo ah yep, the let down is really painful I found at the beginning but then suddenly you don't notice it.

Off to clear up and make some dinner. Forgot to get anything out of the freezer...grrr. What excitement can I rustle up with a potato and courgette

mrsboogie · 27/07/2009 16:05

fritatta?

jeanjeannie · 27/07/2009 16:11

SNAP!!! Just a quick MN stop as I have a tea break in-between cutting up the veg and making the.....fritatta! Well, it's an omlette 'thingy'

Tee2072 · 27/07/2009 18:00

Afternoon all.

Poor Adam seemed to have a tummy ache all afternoon, ending with a spectacular pooh. He is now asleep on his daddy's shoulder.

I managed to sleep for about an hour, hard. DH came to wake me when Tesco came with the grocery order, which was about 45 minutes ago. I think I just had my first coherent thought 1 minute ago.

JJ enjoy your fritatta!

JW I am 100% behind the Haribo/Magnum diet. Weight Watchers better watch (heh) out, you'll take the world by storm!!

Well done hedgepig!

And yes, MN can be like being back in school. Just remember, though, we are the cool girls.

heron22 · 27/07/2009 18:08

hi ladies, my mobile phone died today, it says no network connection. so i rang up orange and they said to take it to shop and they will see if it is the phone or sim that is the problem. so cue, me, LO and 5 yr old, walked to shop, got rained on and the lady at the shop diagnosed the phone to be at fault. so she rang up orange customer service and the idiot on the line said that the phone is fine, the network on the area is out of order and wont be back until friday! so i came back home with increasingly cranky LO and then ran into my friend who has orange mobile phone. she says her phone is fine!!! so i rang up orange customer service and was told that there is nothing wrong with the network and the phone needs replacing! GRRRR!!!!!

after all that hassle, LO is now so tired he fell asleep without any milk! so will go and give him milk or he will wake up screaming hungry!

how are you all?

jeanjeannie · 27/07/2009 18:15

Fritatta was fab - even Iris ate it AND she managed to eat yoghurt with pear without getting it all on the floor - result!

hedgepig I take my hat off to you - spectacular work! I'm now contemplating my bike - not thinking too hard about it though....just mulling it over!

heron Wah...how annoying. I'm still not 'at one' with my phone! In High Wycombe there is very little signal because of the hills. Even over half the town doesn't get digital TV signal! We do but it means we don't get the local tv news - instead we recieve local news from Hampshire! I'm so up-to-date with the goings on in the Isle of wight

tee a coherant thought just once in the day is a good day

Ah - not really bothered by big girls on the threads. There are some such as Radio/TV/ chat and style & Beauty where they all hang out - talk big - drink vodka shots and pretend they're funny

johnworf · 27/07/2009 18:48

What's a coherent thought? Not had one of those since 1987.

Glad that A has managed to work his tummy ache out...into his nappy Poor little thing.

Great godzillas! Iris ate all of her tea! Gold shiny to that girl over there (with the clean plate)

K actually ate her tea tonight too. Do these kids on this thread all follow each other's behaviour sheep-like??? Co-incidence or what?

I'm ebaying the crap I found under the cot. Jeez. I've even sorted out the SilverX bag to be left in the car all the time. It's got everything in it for that 'just in case' moment. Even has spare breadstick crumbs just in case K doesn't have enough with her Gawd, those crumbs are like sand. Everywhere in this house.

OOh now what does my evening bring me? Well, K is bathed and squeaky clean (managed to get the yoghurt out of her fringe. Think it's like baby Timotei or something). Next will be bedtime for LO's and then...oh and then, I flake out over some crap telly and do it ALL OVER AGAIN TOMORROW. At least I'm predictable and consistent

heron I have to walk this house to find a signal. Front room; no. Living room; maybe (depends on which way the wind is blowing and if it's raining). Kitchen; praps, but only at the far end. Upstairs; forget it.

heron22 · 27/07/2009 18:49

jj the frittata sounds good for kids? how do you make it? DS1 is so fussy with his food.

heron22 · 27/07/2009 18:59

I am at lost as to what is going on with LO. for the last 2 weeks or more now, he would go down at around 6pm nicely, then wake up screaming the house down about 45-50mins later.

anyone got any clue?

he does not have wind, not hungry, dirty nappy or anything. he would cry for about 30 mins and then fall asleep. sometimes he would cry so hard he would puke.

jeanjeannie · 27/07/2009 19:46

jw it's a comfort to know there are others out there living the same life as me. Corrie crap tonight and Tuesday tomorrow - which is the same as today, only a little bit closer to Wednesday!! Hahah yes, phone signals...last time I spoke to you jw I think I had my head literally out of the window

heron Oh the fritatta has been a real hit...especially as Iris has an aversion to eggs! Basically I fry onions, a few mushrooms and then leave them with the lid on and off the heat so they go nice and soft. I par boil a small potato - then slice it. Get a frying pan - fry the spud a bit - then add the soft fried veg and then whisk an egg (or two) pour over it and leave to cook. Just to cook off the top, add some cheese and pop under grill for two mins. Et Voila - all done in 15 mins.

Corrie - mastermind - corrie followed by - pah, who cares? I'll be in bed by then!!

mrsboogie · 27/07/2009 20:05

The Street - don't forget the Street!

I love fritatta, yum.

heron I have no idea what the matter with your LO could be, sorry. Unless he wants to do that cluster feeding thing and is hungry again? a long shot. Or could ha be trying to change his sleeping pattern and the 6 o'clock going down time is a now a nap for him and he wants to get up again for a while? D would never go down at 6pm except when he had just started nursery and was exhausted. He will often take a nap at 6 and get back up again for a couple of hours. He would go mad if he was left in bed and wasn't ready for sleep - I wouldn't even try - not worth the hassle .

johnworf · 27/07/2009 20:42

Evenin' all.

Fritatta's eh? Sounds lovely. Neither DH nor DSS will eat eggs so that's that one crossed off the list We had a lovely tea provided wholly by Captain Birdseye. I will wake up one morning with a sailor's beard, singing sea shanties. (I give up trying with real food).

No idea what's up with your LO heron. Maybe have a word with your HV if you are puzzled or confused. They've seen it all

Last time I spoke to you JJ I was standing on a chair next to the little dining table in the kitchen, waving phone in the air until 2 bars appeared.

My cheapo cd I bought came today. Tis the soundtrack to the film 'The Lost Boys' which I think, by pure chance, was on the tv last weekend. Praps not on terrestrial though.

Has anyone used any of the Weleda products? I've just bought K some shampoo and body wash in the hope it'll help eczema. You know I've bought 4 types of shampoo that all declare on the front they are perfect for use on babies with eczema. However, quick squizz of ingredients and there it is, at the top, Sodium laureth sulfate. I've binned them. I think the Weleda range has none of that crap in it. Also bought myself a crystal deoderant while I was at it. Think I'm turning into a bit of a hippy what with the crystal deoderant and washable sanitary towels. Well......just doing my little bit

OP posts:
jeanjeannie · 27/07/2009 20:52

mrsB not got into the Street - kind of wish I had though - looks good.

jw blimey, we must look a fright while trying to communicate via mobiles!

Weleda is nice although I can't vouch for it's credentials. I quite like Aveno....it's a oatmeal derivitive.

I really can't recommend the halos n' horns range highly enough - nowt nasty and causes no flare-ups in Iris's skin.

LOL@you turning into capt' Birds Eye.

Fancy something nice...cakey sort of thing....maybe a bit of choccy.

Tee2072 · 27/07/2009 20:58

JJ I am heading to the Cadbury's Drinking Chocolate myself. Its how I get my calcium.

jeanjeannie · 27/07/2009 21:01

lol@tee

mrsboogie · 27/07/2009 21:31

I love the Aveeno stuff - D constantly has a little bit of eczema somewhere - its like we are constantly chasing it round his body - every time it goes from one place it starts up somewhere else. But the Aveeno sees it off. I used body shop baby shampoo but we are all out so might try the halos and horns next.

He isn't well tonight - another cold brewing and he is up chuntering round the place, also dribbling loads for the first time in ages so maybe teeth on the way.

johnworf · 27/07/2009 22:04

mrsb so it's your turn for the cold that the LO's on here keep passing between them? Poor D Sounds like teeth to me.

tee like the calcium idea from drinking chocolate. Writes it down before she forgets

JJ at least we entertain the children/neighbours when we talk on the phone

I've seen the Halo N Horns in Costco. Just remembered. I'll see how I get on with Weleda but if it's no good, I'll give the Aveeno a go.

I've had a piece of ginger cake. Horrible stuff. Like eating a sponge that you wash with. Will have to have another piece later to make sure it's still horrible...........

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 27/07/2009 22:12

Hey, its true! Cadbury's Drinking Chocolate is made with hot milk, hence calcium!

FloriaTosca · 27/07/2009 23:36

JW sincerely hope the bath sponge Ginger cake isn't the cost-co one.......last time I had that it was heavenly! You are most welcome to join us at the caravan but be warned the weather in Millom (morcambe bay/lake district)is always dreadful (apart from the day we went to view the place of course...that day it was beautifully sunny and the waterskiing lake was like glass..that was 5 yrs ago, we haven't witnessed it like that since)but the bracing sea gale breeze is good for the health.
We were going to go today but Dhs mates wife only got back from hols with our car this afternoon and the bloke who did our land drains was supposed to come round this morning to view the quick sand like patch in the middle that isnt responding to his treatment...he didnt turn up until 8pm and now it looks like we might have to wait until Weds to go away so we can be here for him to fix it ...
...still I took A to the petting farm in Bacup and he had a ball!!!!...the farmer was impressed that he knew the name of each species, sign language for each animal and the noise it made (except the rare ones obviously...alpacas, chinchillas and emus aren't exactly common)and I got to fly and eagle owl!!So not too unhappy today.

bonzo glad you are home and getting a bit more rest...ouch at the latching thing...my toes curled every time for the first 6 weeks...never would have believed that I'd still be doing it 21 months on.

JJ lurve the monkey!

I hope all those having bad nights have wonderful ones tonight..we are trying a new tack tonight and have taken the side off As' cotbed....Dh thinks if he can get out and play with his toys he wont scream for me at 5am and some more.... I have my doubts but Dh feels he never has any input into how we deal with things etc so thought we'd give his ideas a whirl....at least while we are on holiday he gets to share the suffering of any consequences equally with me next day [FT wanders off to bed with an evil smirk on her lips]

johnworf · 28/07/2009 07:48

Morning ladies.

floria fear not. The ginger cake I was talking about was the McVities one. I didn't even know that Costco made them! Oh no! Another thing to avoid.

So wish I was coming to your caravan with you. Even for an hour, a cup of tea and a quick chat.....right now, that's about as likely as me finding a winning lottery ticket down the back of the sofa.

Hope you and the family have a great time though. Some nice bracing air might make A sleep (inserts optimistic emoticon here). You never know, DH may have stumbled on a plan with the cot sides. I'm sure you'll have found out by now though if it's worked or not

I've got some stuff arriving today that I've bought. You're all safe, it's not xmas presents again. Just some cd's. Whenever I mention I've bought cd's my children roll their eyes like I've just bought something from the ark. Well I haven't got an ipod, although think that one of the older ones will be throwing one of their castoffs to me soon. It's the ear things I can't get to grips with. They hurt when I put them in.

Also think my Fit Flops are coming. These shoes have so much to live up to and so much work to do

K is saying mama today which is a nice change from the usual dadda. She's waving bye bye all the time (ironic as we don't go out) and shaking her head whenever a question is thrown at her. I think this is about right for her (corrected) age?

OP posts:
jeanjeannie · 28/07/2009 08:42

Morning all. Blimey, I had a fab sleep - the night shot by.

floria I would be so happy with a trip to the gale-blasted seaside in a caravan. I do hope if it rains then you'll get fish & chips and sit in the car, looking out over the seafront in ready practise for very old age! Have a lovely time and I hope it works on the sleep front for A.

tee forgot to say before that the new pics of A on FB are just adorable. The one of him in the Amby....Awwwwwwwwww

jw Yep, Verity shakes her head if you ask her a question - and waves at everything while trying to say bye. She's also quite excited by patting her head or belly and new trick is to put make a red Indian noise with her hand over her mouth! Taught her that yesterday - could hear her in her cot doing last night before she fell asleep! No "mama" though...grrr.

Today's plan is to go to the park...MMmm, don't see the rain holding off myself

johnworf · 28/07/2009 08:47

Yeah not a bad night here either JJ K slept until 7am, quick change and bottle and she's snoozing again although think she'll be up fairly soon for b'fast.

Don't fancy your chances for the park. There's loads of rain on the way today so take a brolly. No soft play options instead?

OP posts:
FloriaTosca · 28/07/2009 08:55

JW[relieved emoticon]you had me fearing for the quality of the costco bakery! It's ok, you can avoid their ginger cake when you are avoiding their lemon drizzle (and their toffee cake too..but thats not on my list of favourites) as they are all next to each other on the table opposite the scones, croissants and danish pastries...not that I know the layout of that area intimately or anything
I know you are in solitary confinement to avoid the unclean hoards but can you not take trips out to the beach (southport is so huge you can avoid being within a mile of anyone even when it is busy) or car only visitations like the safari park? Feel free to tell me I'm an idiot... just trying to help save your sanity.
Well done Miss K for saying mama (aaahh!)and waving..I agree it is about right for her corrected age...head shaking didnt happen in our house until a lot later.

Well the cot side off did seem to make a little difference...A woke at 4.45 but only wanted milk for 10 mins, he then slept in until 7.20....of course most 21mth olds would have dropped the night feed last year but I'm just thankfull for small mercies!

Tee2072 · 28/07/2009 09:12

Morning all.

Does two nights a schedule make? A once again up at 2:30 and then 5:30. Then back to sleep a bit. Then threw up on daddy.

He has his follow up appointment this afternoon from being dropped on his head. He still has this lump under his arm from when he fell. Everyone at the time said it was 'soft tissue damage' but it seems to be getting bigger! Definitely demand some answers on it today!!

JW aww, said Mama!!

JJ good luck, I hope the rain holds off for you.

Floria sounds like the cot sides experiment seems to be working!!

jeanjeannie · 28/07/2009 09:42

Oooo floria could this be progress? Fingers crossed.

tee that's not bad going at all. Hope you get some lumpy answers today.

jw soft play at holiday time is basically a 5-8yr old jumping and screaming festival. They're no place for anything other than the toughest under 5s - just not safe enough. Shame as it's really 6 weeks wiped out for us on our annual membership.

The dark clouds are getting lower....and definately looking more menacing
