tee is it a hemangioma? If so, then very harmless. I'd ask about the throwing up. Sounds v much like reflux.

Wish I could go out floria but can't see it happening. DH has his bridge mates around tonight (confined to front room only) and I'm getting twitchy about it already. Thankfully the one whose wife has got SF is not coming. If he does turn up there's no way I'm opening the door to him!

mornin

well, the parent with SF now has a child with it - so it gets ever closer. I imagine the child was in the nursery yesterday spreading germs. In one way I would love to have it over us before the much vaunted collapse of the nhs but I can't help worrying that D would have some horrible complications and end up in hospital or worse. Worry, worry, worry.

sorry me, ,me me - must get back to the grindstone...

johnworf · 28/07/2009 11:36

OMG mrsb I'd be fretting as well.

How old is the child that has it? How is it affecting him? I take it the parent who had it didn't confine themself into quarantine thereby spreading it to the child? Really hope that D doesn't get it. Fingers crossed.

Are the nursery doing anything to prevent spread?

Sorry I'm like the police today with my interrogation but I am interested to see if people are doing anything to stop it spreading or just carrying on regardless.

Morning all

No time - got to hang washing in airing cupboard as a friend is coming for lucheon. The sunshine is too intermittent to trust. That sounds like something a Russian spy might say, sotto voce, on platform 4 at Liverpool St Station at 3.33pm precisely [hmm.

Enough gay banter. Hope you're all full of cake and not swine flu germs xx

johnworf · 28/07/2009 11:52

ermintrude enjoy lunch and airing cupboard.

No cake nor germs here AFAIK.

DH and (moping since we took him off the XBOX) DSS are off to Costco this afternoon. Have put lemon drizzle on the list twice and scribbled it out and written it again. Gawd I want it...and I'm saying that in a tone of voice that was once reserved many years ago for new b/f's.

jw i could do with a slice of cake too
but eat healthy! have another 2 kgs to lose before DS1 starts school in sept! want to look presentable by then!

had an hour or so of me time (cuppa, paper) this morning. DS1 was at camp and LO was at creche! feel better for it.

trying not to think about SF!

mrsboogie · 28/07/2009 12:32

if you want it jw you should have it or you will just carry on wanting it until you do have it.

no details on the FS yet as DP left D into nursery this am as I had an early meeting and he didn't ask any questions. But no, there are no plans to prevent the spread - we had our desks washed here for a change last week but that's as far as it goes . I doubt they would even bother trying in a nursery situation - they just put a notice on the door saying its in there. They will send kids home if found to have a high temp but they would do that anyway. I do sway between thinking they should try to prevent but realistically nothing is likely to be effective enough to limit the spread aside from closing the nursery and that's not an option.

D picks up everything that's going there so I guess its only a matter of time now. I'd hate to be anyone with a baby with any additional sensitivities or underlying problems. It is a very good thing jw that you have the set up you do and can limit your contact with the outside world. I hope it is enough to prevent K catching it.

johnworf · 28/07/2009 12:57

mrsb I have come to think that in some respects I am very lucky in that I don't have to go out (of the door) to work. I would be in pieces in your position. I know there is nothing you can do as you have to work, but since when has that stopped us worrying about them, especially when they're ill or there's something doing the rounds?

Have just rung another mum to cancel DSS going to a party on Saturday. In a huge shopping centre (trafford centre) playing laser quest. Feel like a complete bitch as he was looking forward to it but he's got asthma and just can't risk it.

Btw, why do men never ask questions unless it's about a free kick, a refs (wrong) decision or sport related?

I am going to have some cake, I've decided Just worried about putting weight back on. I'll cut back to make up for it

OP posts:
hedgepig · 28/07/2009 13:26

hello, MrsB I hope you can keep the SF at bay.
We are supposed to be going on holiday today but no packing has happened yet (can't put O down without him screaming). Will see you in about 2 weeks (no internet access on holiday what shall I do?).
I hope everyone manages to stay healthy and see you soon.

jeanjeannie · 28/07/2009 15:52

Oh hedgepig bye, bye - have a lovely time and hope you're off somewhere nice I'm sure you are!

mrsB gosh, I'd be so worried, but they can just as easily pick it up from soft play or the park. We've just been to the park and you can almost feel the germs flying around.

heron good luck with the 2kgs. Weighed myself today and my BMI is now 22 - I'm chuffed. To think it was 30 when we started this (now lapsed) Tues weigh-in....around Feb time I think. Anyway - thing is to keep it off. Thing is I've never ever been overweight pre-pregnancies - so I'm hoping that my body will try and remember that !

erm Was the sunshine too intermitant to trust?? Did the hawk fly before the clouds passed over the sun? Moreover - was the tea served before cake at luncheon?

Nice long walk to the park - Iris had an ice cream which she didn't drop but was mightily unimpressed by the blandness of the cone. Verity has found her swing wings and wanted to go faster!

BonzoDoodah · 28/07/2009 15:58

Eeek is that the time already! And I'm still in my PJs. Posted a stack of pics on my profile today - G had his first bath. Despite screaming the place down every nappy change he loved the bath and lay there happily having water poured on him. Ahhh.

hedgepig and florida have a great holiday.

jj I know what you mean about the softplay. The last time I went with M (who is not a tough-nut) I sat in the "under3's" bit with her and quizzed every child who lumbered in about their age. If they were over 3 I sent them packing. Meant M could play without being crushed and so could the other under 3s in there. made me a bit mad that the place itself didn't police it better. I mean what do you pay the money for? And if all ages pay the same price then they shoud at least protect the small ones a bit.

jw John Lewis / Waitrose baby stuff is magic! No nasties in it and quite a bit cheaper than all the other branded stuff. I love the smell of their baby shampoo. Plus their baby bottom butter and baby massage cream are fantastic for dry skin. My elbows and heels are super soft from using them.

MrsB I'd be thinking lets get this over with - Baby's going to get it no matter what we do ... hopefully now while it is mild and we really can't do anything to prevent it so try not to stress. Easy to say I know but you wouldn't be stressing this much about ordinary flu and the medical professionals keep telling us that this is not as dangerous as flu - just more prevalant. Hard times eh.

heron is baby going to bed too early? M has never gone before 8. That's just her time. Maybe yours has progressed beyond 6pm now. Can't remember how old they are.

Tee good luck with the bump-clinic.

johnworf · 28/07/2009 16:18

V cute pics bonzo He's sporting a very serious expression on the pic of him in the bath!

JJ well done on the weigh in and the loss. I haven't had my GP weigh in this month as I'm trying to avoid going to the surgery if not necessary. Must weigh soon though to keep an eye on where I'm at.

I see this pig flu from a very different angle. I have 2 children here with underlying health issues and to me, I have to safeguard against them getting it as much as possible. I really don't think it would be a mild illness for either of them as their health issues are relating to their lungs.

I do think that open spaces e.g. parks are fine. It's enclosed spaces with crowds of people that I'm worried about.

Horrified to listen to Jeremy Vine show on R2 today where people are stockpiling Tamiflu, pretending they have it and collecting it for 'just in case'. Typical! F**king pisses off (pardon my french) that sort of behaviour. We were offered Tamiflu for K when I phoned the out of hours 2 weeks ago and my DH firmly declined it saying that we didn't need it as she didn't have SF! Jeez. No wonder the country is in a mess. I expect to see lots of auctions for Tamiflu on Ebay around Feb 2010 when supplies might be getting low.

jeanjeannie · 28/07/2009 16:34

bonzo oh wow - gorgeous pic - gorgeous! And you looked fab at your most heavily preggie!! Your little girl's curls.....oh she is such a cutie! Love watching them BF their dollies....Iris sticks hers up her top!

Agree that Waitrose bottom butter is very nice indeed!

jw I heard that about the stockpiling Tamiflu Totally stupid as it's not without its risks either. I hope there aren't thick parents out there administering it for a cold There are some people in life who just need a damm good thrashing.

Shepherds pie anyone?

Tee2072 · 28/07/2009 16:38

We're back. And Adam is now...12.12 lbs...and 22.2 inches...95th centile all the way around! Doctor says he's perfectly proportioned, just going to be big like his daddy!

Also, he did indeed crack one of his ribs. Which explains the bump on his side. Nothing they can do for it, it will just heal on its own. He's been discharged.

He is now sitting quite contentedly in his vibrating chair, kicking his legs and staring at himself in his mirror.

bonzo he's gorgeous!

JW I totally agree with your decisions re SF and your two vulnerable children. Its people with perfectly healthy children who are freaking out (and, apparently stockpiling tamiflu) that are annoying the F*ck out of me.

hedgepig have a lovely holiday!

JJ wow, undropped ice cream and ate dinner last night? Growing up despite herself, eh?

heron22 · 28/07/2009 18:27

must go and see those pics bonzoback in sec

heron22 · 28/07/2009 19:40

bonzo love ur pics! G is cute cute cute!

mrsboogie · 28/07/2009 20:12

'ullo all

a whiney, whingy, dribbly, snottery evening here

and no cake..and nowt on telly

bonzo beautiful pics and baby G is beautiful and looks so so new

ermintrude13 · 28/07/2009 20:26

Aw Bonzo, lovely pics. .

johnworf · 28/07/2009 20:38

mrsb is that you or D you're talking about? Sorry, you're prolly not in the mood. More teeth or a cold? Would you like me drag my pouffe over for you?

Oh dear, DH got some free muffins will large dollops of chocolate cream and marshmallows on the top. I had to throw half away...too sickly even for me. Might fare better with the lemon drizzle cake later eh?

My M&S sale stuff came today. Nice new pj's, a dressing gown, a top and some flared jeans. I was a bit concerned the jeans wouldn't fit me after all the cake I've guzzled. Can still get them on...size 12. phew. Still a way to go to catch you up though JJ I was overweight before I got pregnant. About 4 stone overweight which had crept on over the years.

tee big lad you've got there. Glad that all was well at the hospital. What will happen with his rib? Will it heal itself? Blimey, I thought cracked ribs were painful? Think that's why he might have been unsettled of late?

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 28/07/2009 20:57

I think its a teething related cold - lots of dribbles, but teething dribbles are better out than in because when they go down the inside instead they cause the runs I have discovered.

jeanjeannie · 28/07/2009 21:14

tee that's great news about A - and woah - he's a big boy....gawd bless him! A broken rib is supposed to be tres painful - so yes, I was wondering if that had something to do with him being unsettled too.

mrsB Whiney, whingy and dribbly sound like cartoon characters! Poor D - it's a rough old time - teeth and fighting off colds. Every time teeth were about to appear both my girls' nappies were just vile and sore bums to boot. Hope your night proves to be less troublesome.

jw how lovely - an M&S goody bag! Flared jeans I've been thinking about those for a while - let me know how much you love them and then I'll copy you!!

I got an Eames style coat peg from Amazon - you know the sort - with the coloured balls on them. Anyway, the original design is £140 Amazon = £6.50 Even DP says he thinks it looks sturdy! I don't care about that - I just think it looks groovy!

Tee2072 · 28/07/2009 21:15

JW it will heal itself. Its actually well on its way to doing so, that's how they know it was broken. Baby ribs are so small that its nearly impossible to see a break. So what they look for is it repairing itself. That they can see.

And it obviously hasn't been bothering him, considering he broke it 3 weeks ago this past Saturday and the unsettled just really started. Paed thinks it is colic and she also thinks all meds for colic are rubbish. She actually re-iterated the cold boiled water idea! So, we tried it tonight...and it worked. Took about 2 oz, but eventually he stopped fussing and went to sleep. Apparently it damps down the acid or whatever that causes colic. Who knew?!?!

johnworf · 28/07/2009 22:16

tee I've never had any luck with those colic remedies either. Glad to hear that the rib isn't bothering him too Babies are indeed v robust. More than we give them credit for.

K's nappies last week were vile. She was teething. They were a very dark green, almost mud-like and could stick to anything...and did. Mainly me. Back to normal this week. Hurrah!

I know which hangers you are on about JJ. I like them too. Shall let you know I get on with the flares. First ones I've worn since 1980 when I ditched them for skin tight needle cords which needed you to lie on the bed and make use of a metal coathanger to fasten them Think I bought them from Stolen From Ivor.

Anyhoo, bedtime has come around quickly. I've not even started to tuck into the LDC (lemon drizzle cake). Could risk a piece now and get indigestion or just leave it and have some for b'fast

jeanjeannie · 29/07/2009 08:07

Wet morning greeting from jjtowers

Gawd, it's torrential - and I see the Met Office has 'adjusted' it's summer forecast!

jw hope you've tucked into the Lemon Drizzle for brekky!

That dark green poo is evil - looks like it's mud mixed with spinach! I also notice that when they get that they get quite farty/ tummy achy. I think SCBU told me green poo also indicated wind to that also may relate to colic.

tee mrsB how did your nights go?

Well, the kiddy walk in the Rye won't happen this morning so we're off to a friend's house this morning and then to another's this afternoon...Ooo, best go and get some nice biscuits.

Verity keeps saying 'Door' and pointing to it. And 'No more'....constantly - weird things that stick in their heads.

johnworf · 29/07/2009 08:22

JJ I'm almost pleased that someone else also has to deal with the foulness of green poo. Wind would make sense. I can now hear K farting from her cot whilst I'm in my own bed, they're that loud. Just indicates to me that she is indeed, her father's daughter I'm waiting for her to start speaking when she can accompany said farts with 'pull my finger'.

If it's any consolation, we too are experiencing that heatwave summer that the Met Office promised i.e. 2 inches of rain overnight.

I've had a decent nights sleep as DH did the dawn call this morning. Feel like I have a little bit of life in me now

Another day, another uphill struggle keeping DSS amused. We've limited his access to the xbox as it was getting beyond a job (and beyond what is safe health wise). Inbetween bouts of going on it, he roams the house with his long face, making us feel like we've won the Fred & Rosemary West Parenting Award for the 3rd year running.

I see that my favourite book is coming to the big screen very soon; The Time Traveller's Wife. I hope I do manage to get out to see this one (still not seen Star Trek!) If not, then I'm afraid that Bit Torrent will be used in our house and my DH can lump it
