oooh I'm all agog to see this pic

/scuttles off to FB

jeanjeannie · 26/07/2009 21:18

Hahahah NO mrsB I've put it on here....it's on my MN profile pics - at the top!

The monkey is from a Kipling bag - he's called Augusto. He currently resides in Dubai and was last seen hob-nobbing with Frankie Dettori!

So basically my best mate and my good self go out - have a bit to drink and take Augusto with us. Armed with a camera it's amazing who wants their pic taken with him!!!

Pic of Chris Tarrant next? - or Lorraine Kelly???

johnworf · 26/07/2009 21:21

Haha. Love chesney. He definately goes to the top 5 of men I should be bouncing on.

Hmmmm out of Chris and Lorraine, who is the more pissed? I'll have that one.

When you say hob-nobbing with Frankie Dettori........what exactly do you mean? My mind is in the gutter today.

This thread has taken a strange twist.Monkey?! Has the bottle of beer and glass of fizz of which I partook earlier had a strange effect on me.

Been out all day at DH's reunion of the company he did a lovely version of Peter Pan with 13 yrs ago. The stage manager now teaches Design and Tech including cookery and had made not only a superb lemon drizzle cake but a huge tray of tiffin covered in milk choc and a big Bakewell Sponge Cake - an almondy raspberry jammy buttercreamy iced confection scattered with toasted almonds. I am now very very full of cake.

Welcome to Lingu and congrats on the pregnancy. As JW said, I was quite naughty with blue cheese whilst pregnant (had 3rd DC 4 wks ago) but only within reason and in the final month or so. A bit of pate won't hurt, don't worry.

jeanjeannie · 26/07/2009 22:00

Ah erm I think you'll find that the cake probably contained hallucanagenic (sp)drugs

OK jw I've popped BOTH - yes, BOTH (everyone loves a double-the-joy-Sunday)Tarant AND Kelly for your viewing pleasure. Personally I think Kelly looks the worse for wear but if memory serves me well, Tarant was by far the more sozzled Ah - I should be over on Sleb Twaddle...

Righty ho - bed. Good luck gals to all of you who had crappy nights last night. Fingers crossed and nighty night.

mrsboogie · 26/07/2009 22:24

ah.. right..I'd have been waiting a long time over on Facebook. I must say LK looks the more ehm refreshed there but will take your word for it that CT was jj.

'ere ermintrude that sounds like a lot of cake type things - hope you brung us lot a doggy bag.

little man still up, full of beans. Still no bottle. entire floor covered with things thrown by baby. chaos. work tomorrow. eek.

johnworf · 26/07/2009 22:46

Kelly looks like she's on amphetamines! Tarrant looks like your best school friends pervy dad (who always says something rude when she goes out of the room)

JJ just started my own thread re Brydon on ISIHAC. Check it out and throw in your opinion. FWIW

Off up the wooden hill to bedfordshire...nighties xx

Hi All - finally caught up ... wondering what started the Monkey business but am smiling at the pics!

jj if you want help chosing a bike then let me know. I rode my bike to college and then work everyday for about 5 years then on and off since then - plus did cycling round Ireland and the London to Brighton Bike ride. So I know a little bit. Although it depends what you want the bike for ...

Hedgepig is it today you do your bum-numbing mega ride?? Hope it went well.

Hello lingu and welcome - a new baby to count down to!

Well I'm home from Guantanamo. Sprung yesterday afternoon so didn't have to spend another night there. Thank GOODNESS! Instead I had a pretty good night's sleep with me in bed by 11 and feeds at 1:30-2:30 and then 5-6 and we slept in til nearly 10 with DH taking M downstairs at 8. Phew. The midwife that called to see me today was apparentlyholding the screaming baby in the next bed for half the night. She said it wouldn't settle ... hope it wasn't her sitting there when I said "shut up" and the baby was taken away. She sympathised deepy that the ward was a terrible one.

Baby G is feeding well but god my boobs are sore. Milk came in today and the weepy hormones. He's feeding like a nutter and it really hurts when he latches on - like a chomp. I remember the same with M - takes about a week for them to stop feeling bruised. Sigh and ache.

M is being an angel and a demon. Angel kissing her brother and wanting to cuddle him and do everything (she is cotton wool wallah during changing). But the second she doesn't get her own way with something she turns into a flailing banshee and kicks and lashes out and screams and wails and is whining all the ruddy time. She does have a cold and a cough and it is all new to her but for goodness sakes it is making it difficult. Anyone know how long this is going to last before she calms down a bit? (she's still not yet 2 - that's next week)

Tee2072 · 27/07/2009 06:56

Morning.

Not too bad a night. Up at 0230 and then 0500. And now he's back to sleep.

JJ I have no idea who any of those people are. But I love your monkey.

bonzo Yaayayayya home! Oops on the MW thing. Ah well, I would have yelled it as well!

JW et all, hope you had better nights last night.

Taking the boy out for some air later. And maybe a coffee for mummy.

jeanjeannie · 27/07/2009 08:18

Morning all. bonzo wow - thank goodness you're back! Yep, you're right, it's about a week before you feel like your boobs aren't being punched and your nipples dropping off. I think with BF it's the first 10 days that are the real killer. No one can really help (or hear you scream!!!) and the tiredness/hormone combo is such a slog. M sounds like a typical sibling at the start and that's what I found hard.

tee love the fact you don't know who these people are!! Pleased the night wasn't too challenging.

mrsB Ooo, hope you're night proved to be ok - I have no idea how you stumble through the day - doing what I presume is a job that requires your brain. Have a mug of coffee from all here at jj towers.

jw hope K behaved herself last night. And I'm off to check out the other thread.

Raining, dull, hot and sweaty and no idea what to do with the girls today.

heron22 · 27/07/2009 08:29

morning all
good to hear LOs slept fairly well
bonzo good ur back home and your LO slept well. i have no experience with a 2 yr old dealing with new baby. but it does sound like normal reaction/behaviour.

jj it is raining and hot here too. and dull. DS1 is going to summer camp this morning for a couple of hours. then we are going to argos to pick up a toy DH has bought DS1. that will take up a big chunk of the day. hopefully. cant believe it is only 2nd week of the summer hols...

johnworf · 27/07/2009 10:10

Good morning from Worf Towers!

Better night thanks. Usual wake at 6.30am for pit stop (milk and change) then back down. Woken by the postman at 8am instead. At least he brought K's shopping trolley that I bought off a fellow MNetter Fab it is too..well she likes it.

bonzo I should think it'll be unsettling for a time for M. New routine, not the centre of your (or anyone elses) world etc. She will calm down soon, I'm sure. Glad you're home and everything ok

tee sounds like a better night for you too.

Ebay successful last night and sold the two things I could be bothered to list within an hour and got the buy it now price I wanted Yay!

mornin all

Not as bad a night as feared - D woke at 1am and we were still up then went down til about 7am. Am a bit tired but not too bad.

But one of the parents of a child in the nursery has swine flu. Have not been looking forward to this eventuality.

hope all enjoy the day

jeanjeannie · 27/07/2009 10:30

Cool, glad you both had a good night.

jw Iris loves her shopping trolley and her new kitchen - as does Verity. It's a crash course in SHARING!!!!

Oh I posted on your thread. Mmmm, it's a bit like the telly threads....they don't like newcomers - just talk right over you and act as though you're not there Obviously too highbrow for the likes of me!

ermintrude13 · 27/07/2009 10:57

Hey all

Ooh JJ and JW at having heard enough of ISIHAC to form an opinion - every time I try to Listen Again the boy won't let me. HOWEVER - top tip for Tee here - this morning A was doing his usual going down for 10 mins and then starting to grumble routine, which usually ends up with about 5 bouts of picking him up, doing quickfire feeds and further laying downs before he sleeps soundly for half an hour. But today I put R4 on. He dropped off at the breast, I put him in our bed and 45 mins later he's still asleep, as Woman's Hour drones in his ear. . Hopefully he'll be subliminally taking in lots of info at the same time as being lulled into sleep .

Bonzo at last you're home, hurrah . My nipples only ever felt sore once when I had mastitis with DD and in those early days with each DC when the milk comes in and every time the LO starts to suck you want to howl. But it will pass. Just make sure he's got his little gob as wide open as possible so that he's pumping the breast rather than sucking the nipple - hard to tell when they're newborn, so I kept gently pulling Arthur's chin down and pulling his bottom lip open so there was no chance he could 'sip' at the nipple, which is what makes it really really sore.

Your DD's behaviour sounds completely normal. I have a friend who, at 20 months old, was ever so helpful when her mum brought home her baby bro, so her mum was surprised to return from a quick trip to the loo and find DD sitting on baby's head 'because he was a bit noisy'. . Vigilance!

MrsB at swine flu. Hope you either all get a little sniffle and lifelong immunity or that it avoids you.
The bakewell cake recipe is on BBC Good Food so I'm going to check that out and will bring some in if it turns out nicely.

JJ Do you think you may have to invest in another shopping trolley? . My sis with 2 DDs 18 months apart has had to give in and buy 2 trollies and 2 buggies - they could just about negotiate doing different 'jobs' in the plastic kitchen, but sharing anything on wheels was impossible.

Is Hedgepig still recovering?

johnworf · 27/07/2009 11:49

mrsb eck. What can you do? If anything?

JJ not looked on the thread I started. I've said pretty much all that I have to say re ISIHAC. Don't take it personally. Let them fight amongst themselves

I've noticed there's lots of threads on MN that are so cliquey you need a personal invite (or it feels that way).

Awww little A listening to woman's hour. If he'd have been born couple of weeks earlier he could have fallen asleep to my dulcit tones...why not? DH always does

JJ glad the girls like their new toys. Just need to get them an iron now and then they can start tackling their own mess! Yay!

hello I'm back I did it!!! I'm a bit achey but not too bad. Off to catch up

johnworf · 27/07/2009 12:55

Hurrah for hedgepig Glad you're back without too many injuries. Well done for completing it

New Boden tank top came today. Totally unexpectedly early. I am wearing it now DH thinks it's 'alright'. I am turning into a tank top anorak

BonzoDoodah · 27/07/2009 13:09

well done hedgepig ... how wobbly are you feeling today?

erm laughing aloud at the toddler sitting on the baby's head. I can so imagine it. The midwife has just been to visit and she watched G latch on. Seems to be doing it right - and she says what you said - it is the latch and let-down that is the painful bit and that it will ease off. Thank goodness. I do howl each time. I'll try getting his mouth open wider too but as you say it's really tricky when they're so little.

jw had a look at your ISIHAC thread but I can't comment as I keep forgetting to listen to it. Will do listen again this week as really DO want to see what it's like. Glad K slept better.

MrsB eeek about the SF at nursery. What on earth do you do? Hope little on has a good immune system? It's probably going to come close to us all at some point no matter what we do. My friend had her baby on Friday and her husband has suspected SF so he wasn't allowed in the hospital . I need to phone her to see how they're getting on. Poor sod - she has a toddler too so it is going to be tough.

Oh how lovely is it to be home!!! Sleeping in solid 4 hour stints. Bliss. Babe feeding for an hour or so and then sleeping for 4 ... I can't complain at all.

mrsboogie · 27/07/2009 13:45

there's nowt to be done although I would love to just take of home with him...

hedgepig · 27/07/2009 14:29

Bonzo well done on you escape it is so fab to be in your own bed.

I'm a bit sore today but OK, I bought new cycle shorts a few weeks ago which really helped. It nearly all ended in disaster when my bike broke after about 8 miles, I couldn't fix it but one of the bike recovery guys managed it so I could set off again. 2 of my mates waited for me about 12 miles down the road but the rest of the girls went on so we didn't all manage to finish together but we did it.

I'm very tired today, O had another bad night, what is going on with these LOs?

heron22 · 27/07/2009 15:02

hedgepig well done on your ride!

jj did you think of something you and your girls to do today?

oh it can be so boring! this is only the 2nd week of summer hols. i sound like a child!

johnworf · 27/07/2009 15:15

hedgepig I find that when things get tough, a whole bag of Haribo's help or alternatively, the Magnum diet (as not advocated in Heat magazine)
