oh tee I pulled my DS1's tiniest toe nail off with clippers when he was a baby - THE GUILT!!

we have the devil of a job doing D's - got baby clipper as well - I have resorted to filing them with one of the soft nail files yu can get in Boots.

OMG Bonzo congratulations!! what a bouncing boy! well done and welcome to the world baby Gregory. So pleased for you.

now, who's next?

hedgepig · 22/07/2009 21:05

Tee How freaky I'm sure he will be fine. I hate cutting babies nails I sneak in when O is asleep these days, but my eyes are so crap I need a good light which is a little incompatible with the sleeping bit.

Bonzo CONGRATULATIONS

A really difficult bed time here tonight as well, there must be something in the air.

Heron is a bassinet a little cot or a proper cot? If it is just a little one he may be a bit cramped in it.

Tee2072 · 22/07/2009 21:05

That what we were using JW. A's fine. Daddy's a wreck. I told him in the baby injury Olympics a cut finger is nothing compared to being dropped on your head!!

Congrats bonzo!! Big boy! I love the name Gregory.

A lot of people are questioning the safety of the new vaccine, but as JJ said, they get the flu vaccine out in 6 weeks every year.

heron22 · 22/07/2009 21:10

tee 6 weeks! i did that with DS1, he screamed, the little finger bled, he cried, i cried! i felt like calling 999!

mrsb sorry about grumpy LO. it is hard!

night all!

johnworf · 22/07/2009 21:14

Who is next? Is it Neddie?

So, the hoo har about PFB (precious first borns). Do they get all the favouritism? I don't think so imho. I guess it's different for everyone though. That's just my opinion.

Mind you, some of the women in this article sounds like nut cases never mind just prefering their first child!

Bonzo congratulations and welcome to 'little' Gregory!

Tee a friend's DH cheerily sang a song as he chopped the tiny tops off his newborn's tiny fingers with the nail scissors and only realised as 5 little spots of blood and a helluva scream appeared.... baby lived to tell the tale, bloke had a nervous breakdown, wife beat him about the head. All was well.

must go and watch the Wire while Arthur's sleeping..

heron22 · 22/07/2009 21:47

bonzo CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
wow what a bigbouncing baby boy! welcome to the world Gregory

jeanjeannie · 22/07/2009 21:55

bonzo woo hay! CONGRATS and happy safe arrival to Gregory - yet another superb name We do have some excellent names...it must be taste comes with age! And WOAH - how big? Gosh, yes, a CS does indeed sound a light relief. You take care - don't go mad and drink lots - get that wee going and you'll be right as rain x

tee yep, DP did that with Iris too but with her toe nail - he nipped the top of it while cutting her nails - boy there was a load of blood!

Off to bed - the screaming has only just ceased and DP is in bed with Iris....each time he tries to get off she wakes and wails! It's going to be a long night

johnworf · 23/07/2009 05:33

Morning all,

Early start today as madam is doing her 5am wake up call She's snoozing in her cot again of course but mummy is up and about, tea in hand and washing nappies. Excellent.

JJ how did last night's episode at jeannie towers end? Did Iris manage to get to sleep and DH extracate himself into his own bed? You've really got it going on at the moment haven't you?

bonzo not sure if you're able to read this but how was Gregory's first night? How was your first night more to the point?

I thought I'd take full advantage of the M&S sale this morning but seems either my info is wrong or that the online sale doesn't start until the civvies are up Boo. Hiss. It's the only perk of getting up early that you can catch any worm that is going.

Did anyone see Robbie Keane's OH on the DM site, 2 months after giving birth? PURLEASE! It's those kinds of pics that leave us mere mortals feeling totally inadequate and drive us straight to the biscuit tin.

I bought a pair of Fit Flops from a fellow MNer last night. Bargain at £15 and hardly used. Let's just hope they work around the house.

Also got online 2 boring long sleeve plain tshirts and 2 tank tops last night. My wardrobe is just needs an anorak to finish it off

jw gosh ur up early! morning
hi bonzo hope ur resting

jj how did it end up last night?

jeanjeannie · 23/07/2009 08:30

Hello all. Well, Verity awoke then fell asleep on me and was snoring within 10mins so that was good... as she didn't notice me pop her back into her cot! DP extracted himself from Iris's room 20 mins later and we had a peaceful night - huzzah!

Iris is in a weird mood though today -high maintenance Needy!

An M&S sale...OOooo, I need a bra - or 4!

jw have you thought of a nice red anorak, ala Haley? Just wondering if your DH could pass as a Roy-type figure?!

I think that many of the 'stars' genuinely do have lipo while having a c-sec and then they wear the body corset, which you're supposed to wear after having that done. So it's not surprising that they're thin. Mind you, I bet many of them really border eating disorder too.

bonzo - how was your first night?

Off to pick up our elderly friend this morning and then the joy of a waitrose delivery this afternoon.

Oh and I've got that CBeebies song in my head - the summer song with all the people dancing with umbrellas...bah!

heron22 · 23/07/2009 08:56

hedgepig · 23/07/2009 09:16

must go and look at M&S when I get a min hahaha

Well done on the sleep JJ , I think we had a reasonable night I'm loosing track a bit tbh.

Heron how was yesterday any better than the day before? Ithinbk I'm getting into the swing of things a bit.

I think we will go to the library today what excitement .

BonzoDoodah · 23/07/2009 10:09

morning all. well Gregory had a great night. fed, slept, fed, slept ... started grunting around 8am but was whisked away by midwives for nappy change and wash while I ate breakfast.
MY night was slightly more disturbed with the baby in the next bed crying and crying pretty much every hour. plus he was in the same direction as G so I had to keep checking who was crying, plus feeds and before and after blood tests and all the other ward goings on. ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz
going to nap all day when i can.

johnworf · 23/07/2009 10:15

bonzo you sound as though not too bad a night for both you and bubs.

When they releasing you?

Tee2072 · 23/07/2009 10:44

Morning all.

A up at 1230 then 4:30. At 7 when DH got up I headed back to bed for an hour, until he needed to get into the shower for work. Instead, he let me sleep until I woke up! Which was about 10 minutes ago! Again, gotta love being married to a teacher in the summer.

Uh oh, A sneezing his head off again. No other cold symptoms though. Can a 6 week old baby have hayfever?!?

Ooh, M&S Sale...hmmm, what do I need?

bonzo that was exactly why I was happy to pay for a private room when I had Adam. Especially since I had the CS and was in for 5 nights.

JJ sounds like a good night to me!

hedgepig · 23/07/2009 10:49

Bonzo hospitals are such a crap place for sleep. Chin up and look forward to lunch (I'm sure it will be yummy).

johnworf · 23/07/2009 11:02

tee not heard of babies having hayfever that young. I doubt you'd be able to give him anti-histamines at that age anyway.

I was up at 5am but no idea what I'm running on as I had it down as 'empty' I'm sure it'll catch up to me.

Not looking at M&S again as I keep thinking of more things I would like but I'm resisting the temptation. Problem is they have some nice things with 50% off It's an evil plan to make me spend

I'm gonna go and do something and distract myself.

Tabitha8 · 23/07/2009 11:09

Bonzo Many congratulations on your new arrival. Gregory is a lovely name.
Tee My doc said she's never seen a young baby with hayfever.

mrsboogie · 23/07/2009 11:46

don't mention the sales!!
/blocks ears

tee apparently tiny babies can't get hayfever, D sneezed his head off when A's age and the hv said it was a good thing to see lotsof sneezing in a baby and is just them learning to get dust and such our of their airways

fret not, tis normal and good! (unless it is a cold, which is not bad but different)

duchesse · 23/07/2009 11:46

Congratulations Bonzo! And 10lbs 6 oz? Ouch. I'm sure you're glad you weren't passing him through the conventional eye of the needle...

Tee2072 · 23/07/2009 11:54

Thanks everyone. I didn't think he could really have hay fever at 6 weeks, but you never know! Right now he's sleeping like an angel and I'm off to have a shower!!

mrsboogie · 23/07/2009 11:57

I thught it was the cat in D's case (it wasn't unfortunately, would have been the perfect excuse to get rid)
