hedgepig yes i think i am getting the hang of having DS1 at home. i am sure the weeks will fly by and then i will be missing him when he goes to school!

it was sunny here and then it rained now it is sunny again!

DH has gone to france for cycling, will be back on sunday. when do i get my solo holiday??

johnworf · 23/07/2009 12:55

Just booked our holiday for next year; Centre Parcs @ Lake District. August 2010 seems a loooooooooong way away. Ah well, must focus.

mrsb I think you're ok and the coast is clear...most sales have finished now.

Afternoon all.

bonzo apart from the lack of sleep that actually sounds like a good night! And hats off to MW doing the wash and change Yes, when are you allowed out?

heron poor you with DH going off on hols !!! Can't you book a spa weekend and leave the kids with him? We'll all come too

tee Verity did lots of sneezing - don't think it was a cold though.

Iris is having her first lunch nap for ages - hoping it's tiredness that's making her all weird.

Right - off to check out M&S.....someone stop me....

heron22 · 23/07/2009 13:04

jj i know it's not fair! but it was my bday present for him!

jeanjeannie · 23/07/2009 13:15

Oh heron I think this is where I say "you're too good to that man!"

heron22 · 23/07/2009 13:39

jj thanks i cannot think of what i would like to do for myself! at times i get so burnt out looking after 2 children and husband that i need to have a break! but cant think of how i am going to cope/not worry if i go anywhere!

jw good on you for booking your centreparc hol! we went there in june. to the one at longleat and LOVED it!

ermintrude13 · 23/07/2009 13:46

JW blimey, you're well ahead of the game with that holiday booking! We will never be that organised, may as well accept it now.

Tee Arthur sneezes a lot and the other 2 did as well. He's also got spots today . Just getting used to the dusty, germ-ridden world I reckon.

heron I've only just twigged that your DS1 is a child - when you said he'd come home for the hols I thought he was a student at uni or something. How old is he?

jeanjeannie · 23/07/2009 13:51

Yep, jw that's fine up-front planning there. Mind you - I think you'll deserve something nice upon your release in Spring 2010! I'm sorely tempted by a Centre parc - not heard a bad word.

The girls are really sicking with something - both still in bed.

iris66 · 23/07/2009 13:53

did someone mention sales?????

Hi everyone and CONGRATULATIONS bonzo thank goodness he came out through the sunroof is all I can say What a lovely name - not heard it in ages, and lovely MW's taking him away to wash etc for you! (though I was similarly grateful when two kind ladies came and gave me a bed bath before I went to see N in SCBU - they were so tender I nearly cried (hormonal lump in throat remembering - sniff*))

Nocturnal N is still nocturnal though shifting her worst time earlier each night. Feeding like a good un too which is great (though I still haven't found any breastpads that are up to catching the gallons I leak just before she wakes for a feed - any ideas before I resort to Lilypadz?

jw - at already having booked your holiday. I was halted at the last minute by DH who had to check he can have the leave (excuses, excuses ) I may just book it anyway. We're going to Bosinver Farm Cottages in Cornwall and I'm sooooooo excited (first holiday - not counting visiting relatives - in 8 years )

tee - damp air is a good one for snuffliness.

Lo calling....

Tee2072 · 23/07/2009 14:19

jw just saw new FB pics! Watch out, gonna start walking!!!

johnworf · 23/07/2009 14:22

Would you believe that there's hardly any places left for Centre Parcs for that week? Well there isn't and which is why I booked it a year in advance. I told DH I'd only go if we were right in the centre as opposed to 25 minutes walk to the centre from the lodges on the outer perimeter. No cars allowed onsite I believe so not walking all over the place just to go for a swim.

We have a humidifier for K's room when she gets the snuffles. I think you can also buy them to put menthol type vapours in but ours can't do that. It's especially bad when the central heating is on during the winter. Dries out the mucous membranes in the nose lining and makes them sneeze.

Put some pics of K standing on FB. She can stand for ages but not walk nor get herself up there - although can get down. Bit of an advancement praps.

Goes off to find a nail gun to get everything in it's place...

johnworf · 23/07/2009 14:23

lol tee

OP posts:
jeanjeannie · 23/07/2009 15:23

jw I would believe it - the place is SO popular!

AND OMG look at K standing up! Gosh - she looks so grown up. I've tried to take a pic of Verity standing but she was SO miserable - hates it Go K.....try the stairs next - mummy will like that

We've had thunder, torrential rain, howling winds and now bright sun

hedgepig · 23/07/2009 15:39

well that was a disastrous visit to the park we go absolutely soaked (well I did Ollie was fine under his buggy cover and Ben walked home with the picnic blanket draped over him so he was fine too) and guess what now the sky is blue again, bother bother bother

johnworf · 23/07/2009 15:55

This weather is mad. One minute it's blue skies and sun and the next, golf ball size hail stones are raining down. I've been opening and closing the patio doors all day like a loon...I give up now.

JJ I think Verity has a reason to look miserable when standing up. The poor wee one might be finding it a tad uncomfortable. Btw, what's the latest on her hips?

Hedgepig in a word; kagoul. Get thee down to Milletts and kit the whole family out.

I say you all come and see us next August at Centre Parcs. Attempt the biggest creche in the world! (or at least the largest group of men with headaches). Let me ring up Norris McQuirter...is he still alive?

OP posts:
jeanjeannie · 23/07/2009 16:10

LOL@ Norris McQuirter! Well, we're waiting for the paed appointment but apparently you shouldn't be able to roll a toddler into a small ball and put it in a box .....but we can with Verity The more I read about hypermobility it looks possible. It does seem that it veers from extreeme to mild - and she can weight bear so I'm thinking it's not uber-bad!

hedgepig we so nearly went to the park - I'm so pleased we didn't but saw lots of mums and drowned rats Kids run down the street!

Oh Waitrose man is here....must dash. Won't be happening for long as Sainsbury is open soon and it's their flagship store. Shall take our non-middle class selves away from the JL Partnership and go to where we belong

johnworf · 23/07/2009 16:18

LOL @ rolling her into a ball. Space saving baby huh? Poor Verity. Curled up in a ball, parked in a box! I should think when she's older she'll see it as a quality and a great party trick

Sainsbogs is fine. I got money off coupons for Waitrose but DH goes pale at the mere mention of me shopping there. He's more of an ASDA man He thinks that when I go to Tesco's I'm splashing out. He suggested last week that I we start shopping at Netto. They don't do online - my get-out clause.

mrsb did you get your windows sorted out? It's a dodgy business is UpVC I always think. Just so many people doing it that give it a bad name. Then again, if you go with one of the big names like safestyle they're just as bad. I think they're a front for a finance company, a bit like DFS. Word of mouth or recommendations always work for me and you get to see the work before you try them out yourself

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 23/07/2009 16:27

have asked a colleague who had her windows done recently and she has given me a number for a company that she said was good. she got Safestyle to do one widnow and it was rubbish so went elsewhere for the rest and got a much beter job done. will ring them tonight.

I keep trying to upload videos of D doing his ungainly "floor swimming" crawl but I can't get it to work - keep getting error messages. It is hilarious he lies flat and pulls himself along by his hands - he just can't get the bent knees thing. Most odd.

Tee2072 · 23/07/2009 16:41

Afternoon all.

Crazy weather here as well. Pouring rain and thunder. We never get thunder!

mrsb what kind of movie file is it? Is it straight from your video camera? I download mine from my vid camera and then put it together in Windows Movie Maker, which comes free with all Windows Operating systems. This creates a .wmv which uploads no problem to You Tube!

The word movie is not in my spell checker?

mrsboogie · 23/07/2009 17:10

tee I will try that thanks

dfs is a cover for a finance company??

Neddie · 23/07/2009 17:38

Hi all
CONGRATS to BONZO what a whopper- I think he made the right exit through the sunroof.
Tee we chewed our babies fingernails and toenails with our teeth- sounds horrid but you are very sensitive with your mouth and it's how all the tribal people do it- we never once had any problems or infections (it's probably like co-sleeping and not allowed anymore but I'm going to do it anyhow. By the way apparently the lowest record of SIDS are found in Japan where nearly all/most babies sleep in a futon or bed with their mothers- I rest my case)
back at the ranch.......I have had to be monitored again due to low fluids and I will now have to go for another scan on Weds. I am an hour from hospital so Monday I will be driving to hospital to see consultant,Weds. Scan, Thursday ECG 24 hour heart monitoring, Friday return findings of said monitoring. FUN.
On plus side my DP is home for weekend tomorrow (and parents have gone home bless them/ strangle them (delete as mood takes you) Groom home from Bulgaria (alive and with wallet)and dad can rest now.
I'll try and post a bit more now I feel a bit better, it's combo of iron tablets, Ranitadine and Lactulose (joys of pregieness).

jeanjeannie · 23/07/2009 18:12

Gosh neddie you've got it all going on! HURRAH for groom arriving home
Keep us posted on how you get on - and the old fluid levels. I found the more Iris pee'd the more the levels went up! Oh I love Ranitadine - it's a miricle!

JW DFS finance company cover up ... cor, lashing of cash hidden away behind the sofas I wonder if Dreams is like that but the bed version. They're based down the road - they even sponsor our local roundabout - lots of floral bed sculptures that sadly look like grave stones

tee Is there an inner geek lurking, waiting to creep out from behind a nappy there. That description to *mrsB was fab - I could almost here you going "come here, I'll do it - let the dog see the rabbit!" I lived with an IT bod once....I spent much of my time just looking at him blankly

jw walk away from Netto

Tee2072 · 23/07/2009 18:29

JJ I have been officially named the Office Geek at my work. I am a geek from waaaay back .

neddie Do keep us posted after all your appointments. Chewed the fingernails? I'll consider it!

Okay, so what is Netto? I feel very out of the loop around here a lot!!

mrsboogie · 23/07/2009 19:00

netto is a cheapo supermarket like Aldi and Lidl tee

johnworf · 23/07/2009 19:18

tee Netto is a standing joke where the underbelly of society do their shopping. It's Danish but not sure if it holds the same stigma in Denmark. I went in one in Aarhus and it seemed fine. Even clean

And yes JJ DFS (Discover Financial Services) is really a finance company that just happens to sell sofas.

Home alone tonight as DH is quizzing at some pub quiz so better go and sort the troops out.

Still fuming from very long saga with direct debits being returned and mucho argy bargy with Barclays via phone.
