Welcome Jeannie- I am expecting number 4 in August after a 12 year gap. Will report back on the pros and cons in a few months. At the moment the older children are being very silent about it.

jeanjeannie · 18/05/2009 22:21

Oh wow - we've had a power cut for hours, Verity has cried until 9pm when she finally nodded off and now we've got power back I come onto MN and find there is a someone else with my name....the world's gone mad

jeannie HELLO and congrats...it's good to have you along. What with a Jeannie and an Iris on here, we only need someone to come on called Verity and I'll have a full house! You are indeed in the right place - especially for finding others with a big age gap. I on the other hand was just a late starter and knocked out 2 DDs at 41 and 42! I'm now 43 and trying to get my figure back - although I've given up on my face

marymungo hello too...and woah...12.5 mth gap and I thought 18mth was close! LOL@a boutique hotel being near the hospital. Ah, the days of boutique hotels...MMmmm, I can dream Oh and you're positively a youngester!

jw OMG - good job you checked I'd never have done that, amazing that you did!
Right, I'm shattered, Verity has wailed so much (must be teeth) that I can still hear it ringing in my head.

johnworf · 19/05/2009 10:12

tee welcome to our club!

Not had any probs getting on here today but it has been pants the past week or so.

Just got back from GP and I've lost 3lbs this month. Not bad seeing as I haven't had a #2 since last week He said he's happy with 3lbs a month so guess I should be as well Pharmacy run out of xenical and no idea when they're getting more in. Is this because it's all gone into the Alli pile to sell instead?

Peeing down here like it's never gonna stop. I'm off out to the shops for foodage and a wander whilst the queen upstairs, is fast asleep.

JJ power cut you say? Does that mean we'll be hearing the patter of tiny Serbian feet just after xmas?

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 19/05/2009 10:32

mornin all

jw Xenical is rarer than hens' teeth here too. Boots reckon there is a problem in manufacturing - but yeah maybe its all gone in the Alli. I made my last lot last 6 weeks and had to go around town yeterday looking for more. Got some in the end! I am still hovering at the same mark and have only this week managed to take off the 2lbs I had put back on. I am redoublig my efforts. Would live to do some wii exercise but am knackered after walking to and from work every day.

tee you are amazingly organised. I did/bought nothing until the last week or two.

welcome and congrats to ther newbies!

I forget what else I was going to say...

Tee2072 · 19/05/2009 10:38

Hey JW? Weren't you the one who recommended the Air Wrap Baby Bumper? Where did you order it from? All I see on the website are Australian stores...as much as I'd like to see Australia...

duchesse · 19/05/2009 10:47

Yup Tee, not sure it's quite the right time to be taking a 24 hour flight, eh?

Tee2072 · 19/05/2009 10:50

Probably not duchesse.

Tee2072 · 19/05/2009 10:51

Good morning all.

grrr mumsnet is so unstable at the moment. And without a word from Tech about it. Very frustrating!

marymungo welcome! I was 40 in February and am expecting baby #1 in June.

YIKES 5 more weeks!!!! I am mentally ready. Too bad the cot has no sheets, the Amby was just ordered yesterday and I haven't even thought about a hospital bag.

I'm a crap mummy already, aren't I?

duchesse · 19/05/2009 11:47

I feel all out of sorts and heartburny and like a heffalump.

Tee2072 · 19/05/2009 11:53

Right there with you duchesse. And exhausted. And that was with a decent nights sleep.

And today I have an antenatal appointment and then have to head right back to the hospital for antenatal class. Or I might just stay at the hospital if my appointment runs late. I really want to go to this one as it is the tour of the delivery wards!

heron22 · 19/05/2009 12:14

hi tee where did you order your amby from? i got mine from kiddicare cos they were a bit cheaper than from amby. this is the natures nest right? my LO loves it. and in the morning, big brother goes to LO and rocks him and sings him a song. this morning, it is was hilarious, big brother was singing "i like to move it move it, i like to move it move it" from the movie madagascar. at the same time, big brother was shaking his butt!

Tee2072 · 19/05/2009 12:16

I ordered it directly from Amby heron. Didn't know I could get it anywhere else!

jeanjeannie · 19/05/2009 12:40

Hahahah jw we said that the birth rate in Wycombe would go through the roof in 9 months Pah, none of that malarky here...Verity wailed all day and pretty much all night

tee enjoy your ward tour...and plug your ears...can't be doing with the screaching of delivering mums who've not been granted the 'must-have' 40 min labour!!!

jw hope the wander around the shops was nice - even for food would be a treat for me at the moment!

Off to do more cleaning as I've knackered out the girls at soft play!

hedgepig · 19/05/2009 12:46

afternoon, another 4am wake up at Hedgepig towers, I am getting a bit fed up of this nonsense. Anyway O is finally asleep after his 5min powernap at 8:30 grrrr

JW so is the rain stopping the patio man?

Tee you day sounds overly busy for someone who is supposed to be a lady of leisure

Duchess chin up iI'm sure the time will fly.

Tabitha8 · 19/05/2009 13:30

Tee We don't get a tour here, but have to make do with a video clip - something to do with spreading MRSA. Mind you, if I did have a tour, I think it might put me off...
Welcome to Jeannie and MaryMungo (I used to like that programme, but doubt it's on anymore). I'm having my first at 43, due 1st June.

duchesse · 19/05/2009 13:36

I don't even want a tour of ours as I'm seriously expecting a third homebirth and if I'm transferred in labour, I won't really care what my surroundings are as long as we're all safe...

Tabitha8 · 19/05/2009 13:54

But Duchesse don't you want to check out the wallpaper and flowers first?

duchesse · 19/05/2009 14:04

Gosh, tabitha, you've got me thinking now. Nope, still not.

Although it is brand new, so might be worth a nosey look. Still don't want to birth there though.

jeanjeannie · 19/05/2009 14:57

LOL@ checking the decor and floral arrangements first....hahahahah, tab yeah - like you're gonna notice it...........you'll be too busy having your pedicure

hedgepig sorry about your dawn chorus awakenings....it's no fun is it?

jw has rain stopped patio play or is it all go, go, go?

johnworf · 19/05/2009 15:02

I'm just chuckling at the thought of a tour arond the delivery suite! Just ignore me.

tee I got my Airwrap (yes, it was me) from here. I'm fairly sure it was here and nope, it's not in the land of Oz either! It's in dear old blighty

hedgepig patio men are still here. One got caught in the rain whilst I was out having lunch with floria and A and he told me he had to stand under our big tree. Oh, why did I miss that?! tee hee.

K's conked out in bed. She's only had 15 minutes all day today and was out like a light once we got home.

JJ the small respite whilst wandering around Tesco was indeed lovely You have to get your kicks where you can as you know all too well.

OMG I meant to say that I caught the new Katona programme last night. In a word, frightening. Her mother is x 10 worse than she is (yes, that's very scary indeed).

mrsb had a chat with my GP this morning about plateauing and he said it's when most people give up. But, everyone trying to lose weight will plateau as in his words, and I quote: "you can't defy physics". So there ya go. He also told me that as I lost more than 10% of my body weight some weeks ago, than I've more than halved my risk of diabetes. I'm on my way to mission accomplished!

ermintrude13 · 19/05/2009 15:48

Duchesse having a tour of the delivery suite at Central Middlesex was what made me go for a birth centre first time around. And it was nothing to do with the decor .

JJ I used to love those 1970s power cuts when we had to get the candles out and tell ghost stories. Shouldn't think they're anywhere near as much fun for grown-ups though...

JW It's v g that you're able to stick with the programme at the point when most people give up - and that you've done so well already. . Hope your bowels get sorted soon though.

jeanjeannie · 19/05/2009 16:16

Oh wow jw 10% of body weight That is amazing when you think of it terms of percentage loss. Love his defying physics quip! Didn't see the Katona car crash....mind you we only have freeview, and even then only half of that is available here Anyone would think we were half way up Snowdon with the shocking reception we get here!

Yes, sending juice of prune and figs vibe your way jw ermintrude Ah, the power cuts were great. We were one of the few families that had a real fire so kids used to come round to boil water on the fire and make toast on a long fork! Oooo, I did moan at DP though - he's complained so much about how rubbish girlie candles are that I've got rid of them all. Well, we could have done with them i tell you!

marymungoandmidge · 19/05/2009 16:25

...what's an 'amby?'

johnworf · 19/05/2009 16:29

what is it with men and scented candles? Why do they hate them so much?

OP posts:
johnworf · 19/05/2009 16:31

Got my letter back today to tell me that my cervix is in good working order. Probably lack of use.

DH has his last bridge match of the season tonight. I wonder if the team that wins, runs around the room with their shirts over their faces Shouldn't think so somehow.

After I mentioned lack of HV the other day, she's just rung to book K's 8 month check next Thursday. Day after her jabs
