hahahaha @ difficult woman! We all know what you mean on here as we've been there too! All I can say is, he'd better get used to it

mrsb sorry about your boiler! what timing!
hope you enjoy your date night !

heron22 · 30/05/2009 21:19

anyone been to centreparc at longleat?

iris66 · 30/05/2009 21:24

Thanks ladies - I really appreciate the input. It's times like this I really miss DD to go shopping with. She has a fab eye (two even ) TBH I wasn't entirely sure about the shrug, it was just the only one that seemed to suit my colouring and wasn't just plain (the cardi was an impulse buy anyway) I have pashminas (pashminae? ) so will have a big trying on session once I get my frock back from the tailors on monday.

Tab / Tee get DH to massage your feet - lots to help start labour (mid point between inner ankle bone & heel especially - womb reflex) and about 4 finger's width up from your inner ankle bone (also for womb) the areas may be tender but keep going as that's a good sign

jw - I too am a fully paid up grumpy old woman (think subliminal brainwashing by DH hasn't helped though) and am with you on the not going out (I don't like going out until they can tell me what the babysitter was like ) I need my sleep too much for a start, plus, bf does make it difficult as I'm crap at expressing & neither of the boys has been happy with bottles (and I can't be arsed to persevere) so it doesn't happen unless it's family babysitting.

onehitwonder nice to see you and I like your list of clothing requirements - tricky I should think . I have a sarong that I've worn for my last 2 labours (in winter) that'll definately be getting a good wearing afterwards too with this one. I got some nice PJ bottoms in peacocks too (hipster type - poss good post cs?) which I'm planning on bumming around in forever with a vest top and big baggy cardi

heron - blackout linings saved my sanity (if only I could get DS1 to actually have his curtains closed now that would be good )

Tee2072 · 30/05/2009 21:26

Considering I am not even due for about another 3 weeks? I think I'll hold off on the trying to induce labour things!

But I'll keep them in mind for a few weeks from now!!

iris66 · 30/05/2009 21:27

heron - that's not far from us and, though we've not been there (yet), I've friends who have and they say that it's great value (they have a mean spa there too)and apparently you get a really good discount if you rebook whilst you're there.

heron22 · 30/05/2009 21:34

iris oh thats good to hear,we are hoping to go there. DH will have to see if he can get time off work first.

yes black out lining!
does your DS1 sleep with the curtains open?

iris66 · 30/05/2009 21:38

Tee - as a holistic therapy it won't work unless your body's ready to start labour and is receptive to the treatment (which is why I think most problems with induction occur - chemical forcing when the body just isn't ready) Don't worry about timing though - 37wks is considered term I shall be doing everything I can from 37wks as that's the earliest I can have a hb

< iris briefly tunes into the tv - I think Diversity should win Britain's got problems (though do like Juliean Smith ...tunes out again.. >

johnworf · 30/05/2009 21:40

Ladies, I ordered a blackout blind from Hilary's for K's room. Brilliant!

tee anytime from 37 weeks is not considered premature so you're in the zone

I haven't been to any Centre Parcs but we are booking for next year at the Lake District one - if it isn't full already. It was filling up last time I looked but DH said we 'had plenty of time' Not bothering going if we're near to the road. My DD#1 also went to this one and said the spa treatments are good and she did clay pigeon shooting, which she enjoyed Can't see me doing the latter though. Not with gun in one hand and K tucked under the other arm.

Tee2072 · 30/05/2009 21:41

iris according to my MW? 38 weeks is considered term! So I think I'll wait one more week!

iris66 · 30/05/2009 21:42

heron he's developed an irrational fear of the dark and so even if I go in & close his curtains when we go to bed (to make him sleep longer in the mornings) when he wakes he just starts screaming . He has a night light on and has progressed to having one curtain 1/2 drawn but invariably gets up to open it once he's been storied/tucked in. I'm hoping it's just a phase which is why we're sort of trying to ignore it.

johnworf · 30/05/2009 21:43

Oh meant to say, if you want something cheap that the LO's will love, get a bubble making machine from Tesco for a fiver. K loves hers. Loads of bubbles. But buy extra bubble liquid (or make your own). Fabulous!

OP posts:
johnworf · 30/05/2009 21:44

Never heard that 38 weeks is considered term. I was told on all of my 4 that anywhere between 37 and 42 weeks was term.

OP posts:
iris66 · 30/05/2009 21:51

jw - I think 37wks is considered term but when considering special circumstances (ie diabetes) for induction/planned cs I think they take 38wks as term. (there was lots of 38wk induction talk when I had GD with the boys)

iris66 · 30/05/2009 22:02

yay divesity won!!!! they are just awesome!

anyhoo - been us since stupid o'clock so really need my bed now. Will be dreaming of wincyette knighties
night all

Tee2072 · 31/05/2009 02:55

It was actually during our AN class last week that the MW said 38 - 42 was considered term. And that's made up of all types of pregnant women, not just high risk. In fact, I think I might be the only high risk woman in there.

And yes, I am up at 0254. My heartburn could kill a wildebeest. I'd get a script but its not every night and I hate to take meds I can get by without, even when not pregnant.

hedgepig · 31/05/2009 07:38

Tee I hope you got back to sleep, have you tried sleeping well propped up on some pillows?(I know you probably have) it is a strange feeling to sleep propped up like that but it will help keep the acid in you stomach rather than you throat.

Iris I love that stripey cari', I adore stripes my poor boys get them all the time. Your dress is fantastic but don't forget the purple sparkley deely boppers so we can spot you on the telly. These are pretty good.

We had a nice B-B-Q last night and then a hell of a time getting O to sleep much screeching again, maybe teeth or possibly an ear infection we will see how we go tonight.

I am staring to panic about this bike I'm doing at the end of July. I haven't done anywhere near enough training, I'm going out this morning if DH ever gets up.

johnworf · 31/05/2009 09:08

hedgepig glad you had a nice barbeque. We had an informal gathering of myself, DH and the dog. K joined us later for some bread.

Oh god, I've been up half the night with K. Woke at 10pm, then 2am and I saw 4.30am and that was last time I looked. But it was light outside I remember that bit. She's screamed the place down not helped by her wriggling and rolling all around her cot....from the top to the bottom, she can't keep still. I'm knackered this morning and had to take her out in the car to get her to sleep as she wouldn't go off for her morning nap even though she was clearly shattered herself. Cheeks are bright red but I can't see any signs of any more teeth.

DH is in bed still. Nuff said.

I've got the big children coming over later for a barbeque but might get them all to do it all as I'm whacked.

mrsb hope you had a fab night out and that you're having a lovely lie in sans bubs.

Tee2072 · 31/05/2009 09:49

Morning

hedgepig I do sleep propped up on pillows. It doesn't help. Only thing that will help is having this baby!!

JW sounds like a horrid night. Hope K feels better soon.

Have to do some things around the house today. Like fold laundry. And put together the pram!!

mrsboogie · 31/05/2009 11:09

morning all

yes, had a lovely night thanks. And no Mr D wasn't away overnight. We sent the Amby with him as he wouldn't sleep in their travel cot and didn't want him awake all evening. It only takes a couple of mins to put it apart/together so it was a good idea. He slept from 8.00 to 11.30 had a bottle and came home so it worked perfectly.

Sorry to hear about bad nights tee it sounds nasty - if only there was a way we could sleep standing up!

jw poor K - that does sound like teething - a bit like the heartburn teeth pain it is supposed to get worse when you lie down - something to do with increased circulation in your head. Neurofen is supposed to be better than calpol but you probably know that!

iris66 · 31/05/2009 11:20

morning all - I should have switched my laptop on when I was awake tee I did 1.30 - 4.30 thrashing around before moving to the sofa (DH has turned into a radiator/bedhog ) though I did get about 3 hours of decent sleep there as it was cooler.

jw - hope K has some sleep today at least. It's hideous when they're so overtired that they can't isn't it. Make sure you get the big ones to do everything today!!!

Hedgepig - I love the deely boppers
I'm a bit of a stripe addict for the boys too (though DD1 was always in spots so it seems - I've a load of her old babygros in the machine)

I decided to take the pink shrug back as you were all absolutely right in saying it didn't really go. Trouble is I can't find the bloody receipt now I've looked everywhere and the more I look, and can't find it, the less I like the damn thing too and really want my money back bloody bloody bloody bugger . I've a horrid feeling I may have gaily thrown the tag and receipt in the kitchen bin as soon as I got in and was showing DH (who said it was lovely -why did I believe him ) and that bin's had all sorts in it since and is now in the dustbin. I really don't want to go there! Anyone care to hazard a guess at my chances of taking it back without?

iris66 · 31/05/2009 11:25

mrsb glad you had a good night

I can't remember if I've mentioned this already (so apologies if I'm repeating) but when I spoke to the Dr re DS2 recently (for the runs & not eating or drinking) he said that ibruprofen can cause dehydration and therefore give bad headaches quite easily (we were giving calprufen) Since the weather's been so hot this would exacerbate it if any of the LOs ar on it. HTH

mrsboogie · 31/05/2009 11:26

if you take it back without they will probably let you exchange it - did they have any others that might go with your dress?

ermintrude13 · 31/05/2009 11:52

Tee I'll say it again, Ranitidine, Ranitidine, sing it loud and it's almost like praying etc etc . I too avoid meds whenever possible but knowing it's for a limited period helps - soon our digestive systems will be back to normal and won't be waking us at night. That job will be passed on to the LOs...

iris that's a really lovely dress. I took something back to H&M that still had no receipt but the tags were still on and they refunded straight away - but may have been harder without tags and in a posher shop. Good luck with it - and maybe remind them you spent quite a lot of £££ there and if it's obviousy unworn they should be nice about it.

JW sorry to hear about nasty night and hope K is better today - hot weather doesn't help them when they're poorly though, does it? .

Mrsb glad you had a good night out - now you've broken your duck you can make it a regular event

This morning I threw up my breakfast (whilst having a poo in fact - described this manoeuvre on the due in June thread, in perhaps too much detail, and have killed the conversation dead. But it's good to share ) and now DH is suggesting going to the garden centre to buy plants and have lunch. That place smells of cheese toasties deep-fried in lard, I don't know if I can cope.

Don't forget your suncream!

Tee2072 · 31/05/2009 11:52

iris I agree with mrsb, they will probably exchange it. Can't hurt to ask!

Well, pram is together! Interestingly, I ordered the Quinny Buzz 3...and got the Quinny Buzz 4...which costs about £15 more. I don't really care either way. Its a lovely pram, and I am not lugging all that back to the store!!

So that's it. Baby has:

Cot
Amby
Pram
Clothes
Rocking Chair

Tee still needs

Baby!!
