Right, so K is 8 months for the purposes of developmental checks, but 12 months for the MMR? Why can't they make their minds up and stick to one or t'other?

johnworf · 19/05/2009 17:51

duchesse she's 8 months corrected age i.e. from the date she should have been born (14th September). However, her actual age is 11 1/2 months. For all things, healthcare professionals go off her corrected age. The only thing that is actual age are her jabs. She had her first lot when she was still in SCBU.

Blinkin'eck- a load of vaccinations at -2 months of age?

johnworf · 19/05/2009 19:48

duchesse we all come in different shapes and sizes so I wouldn't be too worried comparing your bump with others. All I would say that if the scans are normal and the hospital are happy with the size of LO, then that's all that matters.

When I was 27 weeks on my older 3 I was the size of a house I tend to carry all at the front so looks more than it really is. I wouldn't necessarily say that size is everything in the case of pregnancy. I mean, look at the woman who had the twins. She didn't find out she was pregnant until she was 21 weeks and she hadn't put on any weight nor gone into bigger sized clothes.

So there ya go!

jw I know- it's just everyone is saying the same thing, and I'm starting to get paranoid...

jeanjeannie · 19/05/2009 20:11

I can make you feel better duchesse - I was about that size with Iris - absolutely nothing showing until 22/23 weeks - I can only dream of such a figure now. You're clearly carrying all baby and not shed loads of excess bulk. Well done you and panic not. If the scans are all fine and dandy then make the most of it. My friend who had her LO in a straight 3 hour home birth barely showed a couple of weeks before the birth...and her DS was a big one!! Sadly I didn't have time to get figure back before Verity turned up!

Good to hear your Cervix is in fine working order jw - got my letter last week...all OK here too. Only action mine sees is a cotton 'mouse' once a month

marymungo THIS is an AMBY! If I'd have known what a problem sleeper DD2 turned out to be I would've snapped one up!

Oooo, I'm watching Chelsea flower show...ahhhhh, I want to turn ours into an oasis of calm!

johnworf · 19/05/2009 20:14

yup!

OP posts:
duchesse · 19/05/2009 20:21

jj if only... there is definitely a fair amount of excess bulk there too, just spread around. I can definitely pinch way more than an inch. Am a little paranoid partly because of scares in last pregnancy over growth, which meant I had to have two weekly scans from 20 weeks onwards, obstetricians twittering ominously about induction at various ridiculous points. Even at 40 weeks, my obs thought she's be between 5.5 and 6 lbs. I said I thought the obs was wrong, and betted her between 7.5 and 8 lbs (based on comparison with previous pregnancies). The baby (DD2) eventually came at 42 weeks weighing 7 lbs 9 oz, but it was a worry for 22 bloody weeks.

I never believed there was a problem, but the obs dept wouldn't stop bugging me, until eventually I asked to be referred to the Harris Birthright centre for a "proper" scan. They couldn't see anything wrong. I'm just a little paranoid

duchesse · 19/05/2009 20:23

got cut off there, but you got the bulk of it!

duchesse · 19/05/2009 20:24

Right, ladies, the fact that everyone remarks on how small my bump is beginning to bug me (not least because I actually feel like a heffalump). I have put a pic up on my profile of it this morning. Could you possibly tell me honestly if you think it's too small for 27 weeks? Cos I am starting to get a bit paranoid about it.

hedgepig · 19/05/2009 20:55

Duchess as JW says we are all different shapes, I have a rather large bust which totally disguises the bumps I had, in fact with O I was chatting to someone at school about how tired I was at about 37 weeks and she asked why I was tired and I said because I am pg and she was really shocked she hadn't noticed.
Is it bed time yet?? I am cream crackered

johnworf · 19/05/2009 21:15

Oh lordy. looks around for the running-out-of-patience-nervous-breakdown-screaming-baby-with-a-cold emoticon

It's always the night DH goes out too.

I finally got her to sleep in the car (motorway journey always does the trick) having got DSs to put his clothes back on. Off she went to sleep by couple of motorway junctions.........as soon as the car stopped outside the house, she screamed her head off again. I know she's out of sorts with her cold but she's barely had an hours sleep all day.

I dunno what to do with her now. She's had calpol, a drink, changed her, cuddles, finally back in her cot and she's still screaming.

Best go and check she's ok.

Blimey jw that'll cost you a fortune in petrol! SOunds like Verity last night - snuffling like a warthog, wailing and thus making more snot. I'm afraid the only thing that works here is a boob in the mouth while in Mummy and Daddy's bed

hedgepig BED - NOW

Tee2072 · 19/05/2009 21:34

Evening all!

Here was my afternoon:

3:15 arrive at Antenatal Clinic.
3:45 had bloods taken for diabetes check
4:45 see Endo
4:50 see OB
5:05 done
5:20 had dinner at hospital
6:45 Antenatal class, held in same place as clinic
9:10 home.

Yes, I just spent 6ish hours at the Antenatal clinic. I may have to throw one of their chairs at them some day. They are so uncomfortable.

Anyway, baby measuring just over 90th centile. OB says 'come back in two weeks. We'll schedule you a CS for 10 days after that.'

GULP I'm going to have babe in arms in 24 days. Suddenly it is all.too.real!!

Tomorrow is my spa day though.

jeanjeannie · 19/05/2009 21:47

OH WOW tee Gosh...24 days...when you put it like that..it IS real So are you definately down for a CS then? Or is that scheduled in just incase the baby doesn't pop before hand?

What a great day lined up for tomorrow

Tee2072 · 19/05/2009 21:57

It will most likely be a CS unless I go naturally before the scheduled CS date. Since that date, roughly, is at 37.5 weeks, unlikely I'll go early by natural method.

johnworf · 19/05/2009 21:57

Blimey tee that came around very quickly. No backing out now Sounds like a fun day at the clinic though Ah well, not many more of those left.

JJ she's finally gone to sleep after I raised up the mattress and yes, the more she cries, the more snot there is. I tried her in my bed and she won't have any of that. So, apart from the fun of pulling my hair and pulling off my specs/smacking my face, the big bed was a dead loss. I doubt she'd want one of my boobs either I think it'll be a restless night all round.

hedgepig think I'll join you going to bed.

jw was wondering if you had heard how little Nathan was at all, as Michaela hasn't been on for over a week and we're all worrying a little. Did she ever contact you?

johnworf · 20/05/2009 07:25

duchesse michaela did contact me via facebook and when I last heard from her, Nathan seemed as stable as he could be. Not heard anything myself for about a week but I've seen her on Facebook and although it wasn't an update about her LO, she seemed in good spirits so I'm taking that as a good sign

As Frankie Valli said: "oh what a night!" K was coughing/crying so much last night she ended being sick/bringing up catarrh. After I changed her I put her in bed with me but she wasn't very happy. DH finally came home and took over and she ended up in her cot but he forgot to put her Grobag on her and when I went in this morning, no blankets on her and feet and hands cold etc She's had her normal bottle this morning so I've put her back to bed and hope that she sleeps it off. We're both a bit bog eyed today

I asked my GP to check my chest y'day (ooh matron) while I was there as I've had a cough for about a week. It was clear and I've just got a cough & cold. Must be what K and DSS have also picked up so hoping that they'll both be well for Sunday

DSS's Man Utd shirt should be arriving today. His excitement is palpable. He's already planned to wear it on Friday to school as it's non-uniform day. Bless. At least he's cheered up. Wouldn't it be grand if we could all get excited by a new footie shirt!

Did anyone see the baby that was born with streaks in her hair?

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 20/05/2009 08:04

Good Morning all.

New rule in our house...if you want mayonnaise on your sandwich, you make it yourself. Nearly threw up this morning from the smell.

JW Poor you and K. Hope you both get some kip and some relief today. And I think it would be wonderful to get that excited over any shirt, footie or otherwise!!

That baby's hair is wild. However, I've never heard of being able to see hair on a scan.

Everyone have a lovely day. I know I will being waxed, plucked, manicured and pedicured.

johnworf · 20/05/2009 09:21

tee have a lovely spa day. Let me know how you get on. I've not got a full spa booked for Saturday but I'm having a mani/pedi as a treat (and my hair blown on sunday for the NC). OOOOh get me.

I've no idea how you can see hair on a scan either!

Can totally understand the mayo smell thingy. The smell that got me retching when pregnant was cigarette smoke...especially outside shops or someone walking past blowing it out. God, I feel sick even now just typing it!

I think they all get excited about the things they like. DSS and his footie shirt and y'day it was DD#1 and her replacement Iphone. You'd think that xmas had come early. The thing with DSS though was this morning at breakfast when I said the shirt could be here today, he wanted to know the exact time the postman would come. Like I have a batphone to the Royal Mail

Now, what can I get excited about..........?

OP posts:
jeanjeannie · 20/05/2009 09:37

Morning ladies.

have a lovely day tee get an extra massage for me!

Gawd, JW sympathies pouring out to you - what is up with these small creatures? Verity was up four times last night and eventually screached till up I got at 6 She's in bed, I'm shattered and Iris has got her final two top back molars erupting...Oh it's a joyous place today at JJTowers Oh and to top it all, the left side of my lips are all tingling, rough and slightly puffy! I want my mummy

Hope the Royal Mail deliver the goods on time. Awww, bless him, it's such a boy thing to get excited like that. Although the more you mention your DSS's traits I see my DP as large as life

Oh and forgetting the growbag - classic male baby brain!

Will try and go to playgroup but see how it goes.

That baby with streaks looks like it's a bit grey....hope it all falls out and gets replaced by something a little less unusual!

hedgepig · 20/05/2009 09:40

I'm going to baby clinic so that should be exciting! I'm hoping they will have a magic wand to make O eat his food and sleep ha ha ha

Sorry for you poor night JW hopefully she will be feeling a bit more perky later.

iris66 · 20/05/2009 09:43

Tee - wow! 24 days!! bet it hasn't even sunk in yet eh. Oooh the excitement

jw / jj can I add another cold filled and teething grumpy child? DS2 hasn't really eaten for the past 24 and is as miserable as a miserable thing, poor lamb. So much for my trip to M&S to get some penny bargains sigh*

Neeed your fashion assistance too ladies please.....

DH & I have unexpectedly been invited to a black tie do at the beginning of Jun and I've got nothing to wear! EEEEEEEEEEK None of the maternity websites have anything in at the moment (all their best stuff arrives in mid June apparently) I even tried to get a frock on e-bay last night (it was lovely sniff* black, shoestring strapped, cross over, grecian style, full length vision of loveliness - I was outbid at the last minute) so if anyone of you fashionistas can suggest anything I'd be soooooo grateful

iris66 · 20/05/2009 09:47

by the way duchesse you are considerably smaller than me (but then I've got 5 weeks on you, and I'm huuuuge) however I've seen ladies your size who are ready to deliver so, as everyone said - fret not. As long as LO is ok who gives a flying fig we're all different.
