Sorry to bother again.

Im getting pains in my lower stomach and back that feel like im in labour but im only 23 weeks pregnant. I didnt have this with my first baby and im scared. I dont think i am in labour but thats the only way i could think to describe the pains. It's not constant, just on and off but when it happens its so painful.

Can you phone the - I forget what the UK version of on-call doctor/midwife is called - and describe how you feel? Could it be Braxton Hicks? I didn't have them at all with my first but did with my second. A warm bath calmed them down.

monty27withbellson · 04/01/2009 03:11

Mtl I'd ring NHS direct? It doesn't sound great to me. I've had 3. It could be normal but I'd get checked out asap.

MummyToLeon · 04/01/2009 03:12

Isn't it too soon for braxton hicks? I had them with my first but not until around 35 weeks +. Sorry i might be over reacting, im just scared

I'm with monty. Call NHS direct. Let us know how you get on XX

jabberwocky · 04/01/2009 03:13

NHS direct - that's what I was trying to think of.

You can have them earlier with the second but if you feel concerned at all - and I think you are - call and get some professional advice.

monty27withbellson · 04/01/2009 03:14

Hi JW, warm bath no, from my knowledge if anything that might bring any problems on. No, on back, feet up phone for professional opinion, NOW?

Is your dp there?

MummyToLeon · 04/01/2009 03:16

Gemma's boyfriend here, phil. Gem is on phone to some nhs thing and she asked me to let you know? Not sure how this thing works....

oops, sorry

monty27withbellson · 04/01/2009 03:19

Great Phil, I hope she's ok. Let us know won't you?

NHS direct can be a bit slow, you know, Oh a gp or nurse will call you back blah blah. If you think its an emergency, treat it as one.

Good luck phil. (Im really worried)!

MummyToLeon · 04/01/2009 03:21

Im back. spoke to a nurse who said a doctor will call back within 30mins sorry to worry you

squatchette · 04/01/2009 03:23

Really hope they are ok Phil .Isn't it her birthday today/yesterday? Could it be something she's eaten maybe? Am clutching at straws there maybe,am saying a little prayer for you.Keep us updated.

monty27withbellson · 04/01/2009 03:25

See, they will ring back but they take a while. If you are in pain i'd go straight to hospital i think, are you ok?
(For tea that is lol)

MummyToLeon · 04/01/2009 03:25
